Dear Dr. King:

Today, as you know by now, we nationally and internationally celebrate your life, your work and your legacy. Well some of us that is, the remainder of us, just celebrate you by sleeping in or being lazy today, thanks the holiday, thus they are off from work. But, others really are truly inspired by what you chose to do for us, even when you didn't have to. I myself, have answered the call of leadership, but no one and I repeat no one does it quite like you.

I wanted to take a moment on this auspicious occasion to thank you personally for what you have done, not just for people of color, but for people of all races, creeds, and nationalities. I think each of us have a duty to continue your work and fight the good fight until injustice and racial inequality is removed from this self-serving society. Additionally, I feel the need to apologize to you, because some of my people don't appreciate the freedoms and rights they have based on what you and a number of other great leaders during your time fought for. Now that they have certain inalienable rights, they still do the opposite. I guess they don't know how hard it was for you all to get us the right to sit at the front of the bus, the right to go to integrated schools, and the right be more than just an underprivileged minority with no vote, voice, or opinion. It is my hopes that someday they will wake up and understand the true value of the freedoms/rights that what we as a people all take for granted.

Lastly, I want to note that without you and others leaders of your stature, there would be no Minority senators, governors, CEO's, and most notably a Black president. I hope that one day your Dream will reach the full realization phase, because although we all sit in the same room today, we still have yet to find equality as you deemed necessary.

Happy Belated Birthday and thanks for giving your time and life for those of us, who deserve it the least.

I guess some of you are aware of who you really are and why you were put here on this earth. But there are some of us who have no idea who we are or what we are suppose to being doing in this life. That's okay, because as long as you still are waking up everyday and you have the breath of life in your body, you still have yet to fulfill your destiny. However, I wanted to let you in on a secret. To accomplish what you are suppose to in this life you must not be afraid to cross The Bridge.

Now, I know you may be wondering what Bridge I am talking about. The Bridge I am referring to is The Bridge that takes you from who you use to be, to who you are suppose to be. Most of us are stuck on The Bridge because we are unsure where we are suppose to go in order to do whatever it is we are suppose to do in this life. But today I ask you to let me be your personal navigation system. Give me a moment to recalculate your route.....Ok, put the car/your life back into drive and move forward. It's just that simple. In order to successfully cross The Bridge from yesterday to tomorrow, you must move forward through today. Some Bridges are extremely high, some of them are extremely low. Some Bridges are really sturdy and some are very rocky. Whatever you do keep going! The Bridge will be crowded with all types of distractions and road blocks, but don't stop, just keep moving forward. Everyone's Bridge is different, but the route across is all the same. Once you make your way across your Bridge, you will be one step closer to your Destiny.

The Present

I told you all a couple of days ago, I plan on keep it all the way real in 2011. I believe that we as a people accept too much from other people, thus our local, national, and international reputation has/is continuing to suffer. But, each of us can ultimately do something positive to try to change the negative perception people have about us. And there is no time like The Present. Stop allowing people to talk to you all kinds of ways, treat you all kinds of ways, or act all kinds of ways in your presence. I don't care if it use to be cool, this is The Present and it ain't cool no more.

Now, I know some of you are going to exclaim, that you could care less about what people think of you, but one person's perception is one person's reality. And as I always say, there is some truth to every lie. While I am not asking you to live your life through the eyes of others, I am asking you to be more aware of the way you are perceived or you may come off to others. Today, is The Present. You no longer have to explain anything to anyone, you don't have to be anything your not, or pretend something didn't happen. Whatever it is, it now was, so in The Present, it doesn't matter. Take control of your life, and remember that what you were is only as relevant as you make it. In The Present who you are now, is all that matters.

Enough Already

Quit your complaining; stop your whining; and for goodness sakes shut up about yesterday. I am here to tell you that all of us have had Enough Already. All of us have problems, issues, and want more than we have. We are tired of hearing about your hard times all the time. It is annoying and we all are tired of it. Enough is Enough.

There are two types of people in this life. Those who make things happen and those who sit around waiting on things to happen. You are just as capable as all of us. You can do anything you put your mind to, but you choose to sit around and feel sorry for yourself. Enough Already. Your tomorrow has to be different. Your yesterday is over now. Don't let your life be defined by who you were, let it be defined by who you are going to be. By now, you should be sick and tired of being sick and tired. If you are like me and you have had Enough Already, lets do something about it. Not tomorrow, not next week, not a month from now, but RIGHT NOW--TODAY.
