A Couple

So what signifies A Couple? I mean we know that two items paired together can be called A Couple? But, does it matter how similar/dissimilar they are? What about the value of each item? Does that impact whether or not they are classified as A Couple? How about the weight, color, or the characteristics of each individual item? Does that at all have anything to do with them two being defined as A Couple? It is a very complicated thought process when dealing with items, but even more difficult when you replace said items with living breathing human beings.

Ask yourself, how do you then define A Couple as it relates to humans? Are two people considered A Couple because they talk often, go to the gym together, or frequent various restaurants and bars together. Are these two considered A Couple because they are always around each other or they have countless disagreements on small things, but seem to be best friends minutes later? More importantly, what if both parties involved in this pairing aren't aware that they are A Couple at all? Now, that posses a serious problem.

I cannot truly define what A Couple is, but what I do know is some of you are living in a fantasy land. Today, s/he may be A Couple with you, but tomorrow they are A Couple with boyfriend/girlfriend number two. I am not so sure if any of us really know what A Couple is, so I decided to take A Couple minutes, gather A Couple thoughts, and drop you A Couple paragraphs in an effort to explore that which may not ever be known---What A Couple really is?

We've all heard them: There is no Time like the present; Time is of the essence; The Time is now; I just don't have Time; It's Time out for this, or the famous, It's just a matter of Time. There are so many expressions that include Time. Time can mean so many different things, but what is so important about Time? I ask you, do you think you have enough Time? Can you accomplish your goals or complete your work in the Time you have? Is there really enough Time in one day for you?

My take on Time is that you never know when your Time is up. Time is only important as your utilization of it. In lamens terms, if you maximize the Time you have and avoid wasting it, you will be more productive. You never know when your Time here on this earth is up, so I write to encourage you all this Time to make the best of the Time you are given on this earth. If you have Time on this earth, that means you have a real opportunity to do something of importance, leave your mark on this life. Take your Time with what you do, but move expeditiously. It's Time, Time to make a change, we are the people who can do it.

What Do You Want?

I have to pose this question to all of you: What Do You Want? I have learned recently that this is one of the most difficult questions to answer. As A matter of fact, I am not sure if I know how to answer the question, but I think it's really important for all of us to seek answers to that which must be answered. If we Don't Know What We Want, then how can we expect anyone to give us anything or attend to our needs. So again, I ask What Do You Want?

I have to credit someone near and dear to me for helping me realize how important a question like What Do You Want is. Its okay if we struggle with it, but at some point we have to flesh it out, sit down, and work really hard at finding What We Want. If You Want: peace, clarity, love, time, faithfulness, happiness, kids, a husband/wife, a promotion, support, power, etc., don't let anything take you off that path. If you know What You Want, go for it. Life is too short not to take chances and we are beginning a new year so you have the new beginning you need. Don't let your past stop you from achieving your present dreams, goals, and aspirations. If you know What You Want, say it loud and proud, no matter who wants or doesn't want to hear it. Don't sacrifice any of your needs for anyone.

Your Surroundings

Beware of who & what you Surround yourself with. I know some people are in your life by force, due to bloodline or perhaps your occupation, but some people are in your life strictly by choice. As you know, all people aren't good people and they don't have your best interest in mind. As the old saying goes, "you are who you hang with or those who hang with you." If you Surround yourself with liars, thugs, infidels, thieves, whores, po' pimps, and negative people, believe it or not, you will ultimately become one of those---if you aren't one already. Your Surroundings are important and are not limited to the people you Surround yourself with either.

You have to be careful where you go as well. There are just some places you don't belong or you shouldn't be. Most of us are pretty familiar with our neighborhoods, churches, and after hour spots, but some of us just follow the crowd. Those type of people just go wherever they are asked to go or told to go. They don't ask questions and want to fit in so bad, they find themselves in house parties, clubs, and/or most disturbing, bedrooms of people they think they know or may not even know at all. I know you maybe trying to be a good home girl/wing man, by running interference, but you have to be careful where you end up. One day you may find yourself in a place that may bring you harm or worst you may not return from. Your Surroundings, people and places, must both be managed like your life depends on it.

Just be extra careful with Your Surroundings. If the people you use to or still do hang with truly don't represent you, perhaps, its time to find a new crew. You know there ain't a thing in this world wrong with being alone sometimes. If you aren't sure where you are or where you all are going and no one is familiar with the spot, stay home. Always be aware of Your Surroundings, both physical and mental. You only live once, you better make it count.

Day One

First and foremost, Happy 1-1-11 to each and every one of you. 20ten came and went swiftly. 20eleven is finally here. We are at "Day One." The beautiful thing about "Day One" is that you now have a new slate, a new opportunity, and a new shot to complete things you couldn't do, fix other things you wanted to, and/or change the world. "Day One" represents the beginning. "Day One" is most important because it sets the standard for any other day that follows. What you do to"Day" while you are on "Day One" will set the tone for the rest of your "Days."

Don't overlook "Day One" or take it for granted. You still may not have everything you want, but I firmly believe that you have everything you need. Now is the time to stop your complaining and end your depression and stressing. It is "Day One" and all your former "Days" shall have nothing on your future "Days" (leave the past in the past) if you maximize each moment from henceforth. To"Day" is your "Day One," only you can decide what happens from here on out. Don't let "Day" 02, 12, 112, 222, or 322 capture you in the same place you were on today or worse, at some place you never wanted to return to from last year. You have been Blessed with the gift of life for at least another "Day." Make "Day One" count like no other ever before.
