Shock Value: Entry 169 "Think Before You Speak"

0

Happy Thursday, my loyal WoodWorkz
patrons. I hope as always you are in the
very best of health and spirits.

Today's Topic: Think Before You Speak

Today, I am here to give you some advice. Now I am going to admit off top, that I don't follow this rule but I am trying. Well at least I think I am. I want to ask you all to take a moment to Think Before You Speak.

You know you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Similarly, you never get second a chance to take back something that has left your mouth. The Good Book says, "Out of the mouth, the heart speaks." People tend to think that its okay to say things in a joking fashion that is racist, dumb, or derogatory, but that is simply not the case. You are responsible for the things that come out of mouth just like you are responsible for the things you do on this earth. Don't just say whatever, whenever, Think Before You Speak.

It is your responsibility to own up to what you say. If you know you have a tendency to say things you don't mean, don't open your mouth. My G-MA use to say to me, "If you don't have anything to good to say, don't say anything at all. I know I say a lot of things out of my mouth, but I usually mean what I say. The problem is, I don't always use "kid gloves" with my delivery. So, you can be a better person than me in that aspect. Think Before You Speak. You have a duty to say what you mean, but you must accept the fact that you must mean what you say. Because regardless of what you do, people normally are going to believe what you say---so you better mean it!

Shock Value: Entry 168 "Just Tell The Truth"

0

Happy Hump Day:
I hope you all had a
good day today.

Today's Topic: Just Tell The Truth

"When in doubt, don't try to lie your way out." Let me say that one more time, "when you are in doubt, please don't try to lie your way out." Just Tell The Truth.

One of the things I have learned over my lifetime is that lying is never a good thing. I mean I know some people may tell you that a little white lie won't hurt anyone, but someone always gets hurt with lies. The major problem with lying is that once you tell one lie you normally have to tell another lie and many more to cover up the first lie. I know it is hard to tell the truth, especially in instances when you know someone near and dear to you will be hurt because of your actions or the actions of someone else, but you have to work through it.

No one deserves to be lied too. Untruths, destroy lives, cause conflict, and in rare cases may result in horrific outcomes, like murder. I try daily not to put myself in a position to lie. Anyone who knows me knows that I will do a lot of things, but lying isn't one of them. If I say it I mean it. Perhaps, not in the way you took it, but I meant it nonetheless. Just ask yourself, how would you feel if one day you woke up and realized you were living a lie. Some people are so good at lying that will have your questioning yourself even if you are telling the truth. So here is my take on the situation and its very plain and simple, no matter what, JUST TELL THE TRUTH.

Shock Value: Entry 167 "You Are Only As Relevant As You Aspire To Be"

0

Greetings:
Is it me or has
this week blown
by faster than Speedy Gonzales?!

Today's Topic: You Are Only As Relevant As You Aspire To Be

I am a person who enjoys volunteering with various organizations, groups, and helping other people in general. What I have learned most recently is that people perceive you in a number of ways and it is up to you to add meat to that bone of mis-perception, if incorrect. I think one of the major problems that we deal with as humans is acceptance. People do any and everything for friends, attention, and just to fit in, yet are you then deemed relevant? Who is the god or guru that judges your relevance. Personally, I believe you are only as relevant as you aspire to be.

Let me explain. I think we all spend way too much time on things that don't matter and not enough time on those things that do matter. We focus on what man or media says we should say or what we should do, but who are they to give us directions. You need to take the wheel in your car of life. If you want to be relevant, there are a number of ways you can make yourself relevant. Don't compare yourself to others, go out an aspire to be great, and make others compare themselves to you. I can say most humbly, I have never fit in nor do I aspire to do so. I love being me, because that is who GOD made me to be. I want to encourage you all to take control of your own destiny. If you want to be relevant, simply aspire to be a better, stronger, smarter, and a more focused person tomorrow then you were today.

Shock Value: Entry 166 "Seasons Change"

0

Happy Monday to you all.
I hope that you all are having
a great week, thus far.

Today's Topic: Seasons Change

I am the happiest person in the world right now. Not just because my boy Mike Vick is playing out of his mind, but because the Seasons is Changing. I almost leaped out of my body this a.m. when I walk outside and encountered that refreshing early morning breeze. I was happier than a vampire in a blood bank alone. Boy how I love weather that doesn't necessarily call for a jacket but you are guaranteed not to break a sweat either. I don't like a lot of things pimping, but sweating is a major no no for the kid, unless I am engaged in some sort of physical activity---OUSIDE :-p . I want to thank the GOD above for the FALL season. I can't actually wait until the Season Change phases out the 90 plus degree temperatures completely. Brings on 50-70 degrees!

Seasons Change in the sense of the weather, but they also Change in your life. Just know that as we usher in another new Season this year, you should attempt to work towards preparing for a new Season in your life. Israel and the New Breed's song says it best, "IT'S A NEW SEASON, ITS A NEW DAY, A FRESH ANOINTING IS COMING MY WAY. While I am ecstatic about the perfect football weather outside, I am even more excited about the chance for a new Season in my life and you should be too. Seasons Change, which is something to be optimistic about. With constant prayer we all can weather any storm storm. We should all begin to prepare for the best Season of all, THE ONE YOU Change FOR THE BEST!

Shock Value: Entry 165 "Focus;Back On My NYish"

0

Greetings My People:
I want to wish you all a
safe and productive Sunday.

Today's Topic: Focus; Back On My NYish

I just learned something about myself that I need to fix while riding on a bus for 10 hours last night. Yep, today is going to be one of these days where I do self-reflection for everyone to see. I have a major problem. While I will do anything to help everyone, I lack something very important---Focus. I recently came up with this new saying, but I need to apply it to myself, "if you try to be all things to everyone, you will end up being nothing to anyone." While I understood what I meant by this adage, now I realize even more how if affects my own personal aspirations. Thus, I am determined to become more Focused and get Back on My NYish.

Everyday of my life for the past century or so I have assisting with the dreams of others while sacrificing my own personal aspirations. I am not saying this because I want recognition or a pat on the back, I am just saying that at some point I/you if you are like me, have to Focus and find balance. I am struggling with Focus and I want you to know it is okay if you are too, but we both have to, "get it together like 702." It's fine for us to assist others, but we have to know when to say, "Uncle." I have lost my own dreams in the dreams of others. At some point, if I don't regain Focus, I will never recapture my own dreams and aspirations.

I challenge you all if you are like me to Focus and get Back On Your NYish too. The one thing I have began to realize is people are reaching their goals or at least working towards them while I am taking the LONG ROUTE to a VERY SHORT DESTINATION because I have been so engaged in the activities and life-work of others. However, now its my time to get Focused and work diligently to find my way back to my own goal attainment and definitely work to get Back On My NYish.

Shock Value: Entry 164 " Black College Football"

0

Yep, its Saturday already.
I hope you all stay dry and
enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Today's Topic: Black College Football

Contrary to popular opinion, there are some traditions that are made to be broken. Up until the 19th century there was no place in pigskin football for some of the strongest, fastest, smartest, and well-conditioned minority athletes. The legacy of these players is as strong as the schools that were developed to educate them and their peers---Black Colleges.

Out of the hallways of these learning schools for Afro-Americans came these athletes. They were only afforded an education and opportunities in these settings because majority schools would not accept them as equals or allow them to become educated. Little did these segregated institutions know, these young men and women would go on to change team sports all throughout history and in the present day. From these humble beginnings emerged one of the most fascinating creations by man---Black College Football.

What a tradition! Black College Football has changed the era of the game altogether. I know usually you don't get to hear much about Black Colleges in general, let alone the numerous student athletes, more specifically football players that hail from them. Many players in the NFL, CFL, Euro League, Arena League, and coaches on various sidelines across the nation were all once Black College Football players. These individuals not only received great coaching, life skills lessons, but they also were afforded an opportunity at a quality education.

Black College Football is truly one of the greatest creations in this life-time. None of the other fields in the world have the passion, promise, and potential like those occupied by Black College Football teams. I have went to both minority and majority institutions, and attended and participated in both types of football programs. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that there is nothing like Black College Football. I love my SEC & ACC teams but can't live without my SWAC and SIAC schools. I love Black College Football and I hope it loves me back, because without you, my phones, and my G-Ma, I would be lost.

Expand Your Horizons: Travie McCoy- Billionaire ft. Bruno Mars

Wow! Someone Has A Guardian Angel

0

Shock Value: Entry 163 " Some People Are Just Evil"

0

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen:
Today signifies another week in
the books. I hope you all
had a great one.

Today's Topic: Some People Are Just Evil

As a person who truly believes in CHRIST and wants to make every effort I can to live according the principles he lived by; although I know HE loves everyone, I have to admit, "Some People Are Just Evil." I am the most happy-go-lucky person in the world. What I mean is, I am usually in a positive mood and if I am not, no one really sees it because I keep it to myself. But even I, with my super positive attitude can't deal with certain people.

When I say these people are evil, I mean they are always doing something devious or in an effort to hurt other people. It takes a lot to bother me, but in my honest admission, some of these people too drive me bonkers. I haven't cursed someone out in a long time, but most recently, evil people having been trying to play a roll in my daily life. In the words of my spiritual aunt, "The Devil Is A Lie!" I am not one who avoids people, but I will if I think they are going to bring on unnecessary drama or have ill intentions. Most recently I have been seeing the presence of these evil people, and I have to try triple hard to refrain from losing it on someone. It is a challenge, but I really have too much to lose.

It is true that some people are just evil, but instead of retaliating with the same behavior, I encourage you all to just pray for them. Pray that one day they will abandon their evil ways in in an effort to become decent human beings. Just because evil people exist, the world can still be a better place if all of us use our GOOD to overcome EVIL!

Today's Topic: Things That Make You Go Hmmm Too

I am not sure if I can say I have fans, but the few people that are near and dear to me who ready my blogs asked me to hit them with another round of the Things That Make You Go Hmm. I appreciate all of the few people that care enough of me to read, so I will now honor your request.

So without further ado, let the countdown begin:
  1. Is there difference between preaching prosperity and prosperity preaching?
  2. Did the original Barbie every refer to other dolls as b*tchez?
  3. Are people really so anxious to meet the Heavenly Father that they must text and drive their way into the Kingdom?
  4. If there is a thin line between love and hate, why don't we draw another one?
  5. If winners never quit and quitters never win, why do good people still lose?
  6. If you are stuck between a rock and a hard spot, what do you try to move first, the rock or the spot; how do you move a spot?
  7. Why is it that people who talk the most crap about their fighting game always get knocked out?
  8. If you know you don't like the way people talk to you, why do you find it necessary to respond?
  9. What came first, the collard or the greens?
  10. Are there more chickens on earth than humans; because with the way we eat chicken, shouldn't they be extinct by now?
I have many more but I think thats enough for the moment. Like I said on yesterday, I hope these questions spark debates and conversations you and your people can enjoy.

Have a good night,

Shock Value: Entry 161 "Things That Make You Go Hmmm"

0

I hope you all are having
a good week thus far. I wish
you all the best each and every day.

Today's Topic: Things That Make You Go Hmmm

I was flipping through the channels last night and I realized one thing. Other than Monique on B.E.T., the late night airwaves are ruled by, how do I say it, Anglo-Saxons and a few other Minorities, well maybe one, George Lopez. Now, just to put it out there, I am not saying anything racists, just making a true statement. This troubles me because children and young adults tend to emulate and mirror the behaviors of those they want to be when the grow up. If they don't see anyone that looks like them on popular shows in a positive manner, they will think there isn't a space in entertainment for them in the future. I remember back in the day, Arsenio Hall use to be the King of Late Night, well at least in my mind. He use to have a section of his show called, "Things That Make You Go Hmmm."

In my ode to him, and his legacy on late night television, I am going to draft my own list of "Things That Make You Go Hmmm." Enjoy.

10) Why do women ask questions to things they don't want to know the REAL answer to?
9) What is the difference between being successful and wealthy?
8) If you look into something and you find something you didn't want to know, why are you surprised?
7) What do you think will happen if you always complain about your significant other?
6) Why are you upset that you don't have money by March if you spent all your income taxes on something that didn't last a month, like tracks in your hair, or car you couldn't afford.
5) If you dream big, do you really want to wake up?
4) Is it ever so bad that you can't live without playing football?
3) If people in entertainment and business can afford to spend money seamlessly even in a recession on cars, clothes, whores, drugs, alcohol, and houses, why can't they help the President balance the budget and end the trillion dollar deficit we are in?
2) If you have done your best to win, but you don't walk away with a victory, did you lose?
1) Do people outside of Detroit, Chicago, and Louisiana inappropriately use guns to kill others of their same race?

These are just a few things to spark discussions and possible debates. I think I will be coming back again with a few more. Feel free to comment at your leisure.

Best,

Shock Value: Entry 160 "It's Not Whats On The Outside That Counts"

0

Happy Tuesday folks!
This week is moving in the
right direction, towards the
weekend.

Today's Topic: It's Not Whats On The Outside That Counts

I have come to the realization that no matter how hard we try not to be, ALL of us are shallow in one way or another, especially when it comes to picking out our significant other or those we spend time with. I hate to admit it but we are all accustomed to being with someone who we find attractive first. Yeah, we know that attraction isn't the only thing that matters, but if you can't stand to look at the other person you share a bed with, you will have a long hard life. Knowing we all are shallow and can be at various times, I want to encourage you all to realize that, Its Not Whats On The Outside That Counts----All The Time.

Hey, I am guilty too. I mean, I think all of us want someone that looks like some model or a poster we can hang in our room. But trust you me as my G-Ma use to say, "Everything That Glitters Isn't Gold." I have learned that some of the sweetest people normally spend years looking for that special someone because they aren't necessarily the most attractive person on the planet. Its sad but true. I once heard a comedian say, "if the beauty on the inside is what counts, then someone needs to flip your ugly azz inside out." Now I know I shouldn't laugh at that, but it is indeed funny. But on a serious note, I think we should all take a step back and stop being so shallow and try to recognize the beauty in all people. Seek to find out the person they are on the inside and not focus so much on the outside. I challenge you all to give those persons a chance that you normally wouldn't date or give the time of day otherwise. The results might surprise you. Your future may be in your class, at your job, next door, on the pew next to you at church or the person who faithfully delivers your mail to your daily. Who Knows?

Best,

Shock Value: Entry 159 "Dear Mr./Ms. TV Person"

0

I hope you all had a great weekend.
I am excited about what the future holds
for you and yours. Today is the
first day of your future.

Today's Topic: Dear Mr./Ms. TV Person

Dear Mr./Ms. TV Person:

You don't know me but I decided to drop you a line to speak to you about something that is very important to me. Over the past few years I have been fortunate to own every channel that you offer to your customers. However, even with every channel under the sun, there are numerous occasions where there isn't one thing to watch. Every season you launch new shows, which have very little success. The successful ones, aren't really my type of programming. I guess what you deem as funny/humor isn't funny at all to me.

Moreover, all the shows that matter or have carried your ratings through the roof, like 24, The Wire, Entourage, Lost, Heroes and many others are being cancelled or already are cancelled. Which leaves avid tv fans with nothing else to watch unless we force ourself to watch the crap you are serving on the airwaves now. I refuse to settle for anything less than the best. Let me say I am very grateful for House, CSI, Hawthorne, Family Guy, & CSI Miami. I have to say that because I don't want you to take those shows that do mean something to most of us away. I really would like for you to reconsider canceling some shows and I would like for you to consider canceling others. Less reality more music. I hate it. People will do anything to be famous. 106 is whack and beyond parked. Too many pretenders on tv. I want something real. Tyler Perry is talented but how many shows can one person have on tv before the themes start to cross paths. Only Jerry Brockhiemer has been a genius with diversity of shows.

Mr./Ms. TV Person, please help. After a while I will be forced to watch re-runs of A Team, The Unit, South Park and Football everyday for the rest of my life. Please don't force me to do that! I pay a lot of money to support you and your career, please make my life easier by giving me what I deserve: decent shows, with great actors, inclusive of wonderful plots & oh boy-drama.

Thanks in advance for honoring this request.

Best,

Me

Shock Value: Entry 158 "Diets That Crash"

0

Hello All:
I hope all of you are
enjoying your weekend.

Today's Topic: Diets That Crash

As I got ready for bed last night, I turned on on the tube. Anyone that knows me, knows I don't really do this whole tv at bed time thing. I believe the bedroom is for sleeping and the tv is a distraction that causing you to stay up longer than you should. Anyway, as I was channel surfing in the 3am hour, I noticed a ton of diet & fitness infomercials. If you don't know what infomercials are, these are commercials that contain information regarding products that a companies are trying to sale, like pills, fitness tapes, stuff for cars, etc. One of the things I noticed is most of the commercials were talking about the need for all of us to be skinny. Okay, well that isn't exactly what the actual message is, but that was what I got from it.

From Jenny Craig to the Cayenne Pepper diet, there are so many tools out there to help one lose weight. One of the things I know from my own personal experience is that all diets are only temporary unless you decide to make a lifestyle change. I mean it doesn't matter what you stop eating and for how long, if you don't find a balance between diet and exercise, all your diets will crash. I understand a lot of us don't enjoy hanging out at the gym all day. Yes, I said us because I am no fan of working out either, but I do enjoy playing ball there and prefer being healthy. But, if you know you don't enjoy the gym, you have to learn portion control, find other ways to burn calories, and when to back away from the table.

I'm no dietitian, but I am going to share with you some of the things I have learned after trying a few different options. It is not necessarily what you eat, but how much. It is not so much about how many times a day you eat, its what you eat when you do decide to dine. It not all about meats, fats, cholesterol, but more about the amount of all of it you but in your body. Counting calories will help you with your portions. Focus on being healthy and not on losing weight. Stick to 2, ooo calories or less a day and you will automatically see a change in you. Walk more, drive less. When stairs are an option, go for them; the elevator exemplifies laziness. DON'T STARVE YOURSELF, NO MATTER WHAT!

Its not about dieting, its about changing your life and style. If you enjoy food, don't be ashamed. I agree with Monique' anyway, skinny people are evil; lol. Quit trying to stop eating things or changing your body instantly. The step by step process is something that will help you in the long run. It is a lot better and healthier to lose a pound or so a month and keep it off, then 20 pounds in a week. The body is the temple, take care of it and it will ultimately take care of you. Diets are made to crash and fail, but you are made to succeed. Don't give up on yourself or your health. You just need to find an eating regimen that works for you. It might take a couple tries but eventually you will find that which you seek.

Shock Value: Entry 156 & 157 "Break Up 2 Make Up"

0
Happy Saturday! First let me apologize. I am pretty consistent when it comes to this blogging thing. Due to technical difficulties beyond my control, the blog from yesterday,"The Break Up" never got posted. I know some of you must have been mildly depressed and darn near suicidal without my words of encouragement on yesterday. Ooops, your bad! Anywho, since that didn't happened I am going to combine today's blog, "The Make Up" together with the one intended for yesterday in a shorter condensed version for my short essay preferred readers. I hope you enjoy.

Today's Topic: Break Up 2 Make Up

I don't know if you young bucks remember, but there is an oldie but goodie that I use to hear on my G-Ma's stereo back in the day. The lyrics were, fell free to sing along or mouth the words like you know the song if you like, "Break up to Make up, that's all we do, first you love me then you hate me, that's a game for fools." Man were these brothers right. Still today, decades later, a number of people in relationships are still riding on this dangerous cycle. One day you talk to your homegurl or homeboi and the swear it is over between them and Shantiniqua/Jarvis, but we all know that lie last as long as it takes them to say it. Right in the middle of him or her saying it to you, the phone goes off with a text or a call and they are right back in conversation with the supposed ex discussing, fussing, or cussing about what went wrong. Fortunately for you, now you don't have to get your ears raped anymore by them lying about being done with so and so. Unfortunately though, you have to experience someone you love lying to your face, but hey, its in the name of love/lust, so that's okay right?! I mean you knew they were going to take him/her back in the beginning.

I am no relationship expert, nor do I claim to be one. Actually, I am more fond of relating to people then I am having a relationship with them. But, I do understand that it is very hard to let someone go that you have given so much to, shared so much with, and you love so deeply. I don't have a problem with you two deciding to stay together or go your separate ways. Do what makes you happy. However, I do have a problem with the two of you lying saying its over and both of you know that you two are going to spend the rest of your lives together because no one else on the earth, or in/on any galaxy will put up with your crazy & deranged azzes. You can leave or stay, just don't tell us about it until you have made your FINAL decision. We are not going to believe you until we see it anyway. Of course today you are very upset so you are so sick and tired of this and that and you are telling everyone who will listen how this is the last straw and either he/she goes or you will be leaving. But, by the time we text or call you, while you suppose to be at the house gathering your things, you are ignoring us cause you two are now 3 minutes into going half on a baby. That's cool with us, you two clowns deserve each other and the drama too.

~For the sake of us all, just stay together, til death do you part. Hey that might not be long, cause you two will probably end up killing
each other one day anyway.~

Yep, it's Thursday already.

Today's Topic: Trail Of Tears

Yo, today I want to have a real heart to heart with my fam. I know sometimes I write things you may or may not agree with and that is fine, but as I stated in previous blogs, every now and then I am going to talk about myself. I decided today to talk about emotions and things of that nature. I shall call it, The Trail Of Tears.

On yesterday I made my way to the bank. I rarely ever go to the bank, mainly because the kid don't really have anything in it. I am sure you all can relate. Times are hard. Anyway, so I filled out my deposit slip, yes I was actually putting something in instead of taking everything out for once. So, I am standing in line and their is one gentlemen, an older fellow, in front of me at the counter. Usually, when I am in public places I am in my own world. I am usually listening to my IPod or singing to myself, but not today. I was silently waiting on my turn. As I was standing their the guy was at the counter and the teller asked him if he was okay. At this point, I immediately became alert because I try to help people when I can and if he wasn't well I would've been the first one to call for help. But, he slowly lifted up his head and said he needed to make a withdrawal. The lady asked again, "Are you okay?" He then responded, "I am not having a good day, my wife died this morning and I don't know what I am going to do--without her." My mouth hit the floor. The teller in the most wonderful thing I have seen in a long time, came from behind the counter in an effort to comfort the gentleman. She shared a few spiritual words of encouragement with the gentleman. Acts of humanitarianism make me feel good on the inside. It re-assures me that their are still some decent people left in this world.

As I stood there, a number of things crossed my mind. I wanted to say something to the gentleman, but I was at a lost for words. As he stood their he was trying to remain positive as The Trail Of Tears began. Now, I am not the most emotional person in the world, but I can't stand to see a grown man cry, families members cry, or senseless acts of violence. I hurried to make my deposit and hit the door. I could feel the water filling up in the wells of my eyes, but I held back. As I got back in the car it took me a minute to get myself together. I mean I know what The Trail Of Tears feels like. I mean, I just lost someone dear to me, but I can't imagine losing your better half, the mother of your children, your best friend. If there is one thing I know, it is that no matter who you are one day The Trail Of Tears will find you. I am not wishing evil or bad on you, because sometimes The Trail Of Tears can find you in times of joy and happiness too.

Today, I pray for all of you out there. I wish good health, sound mind, and prosperity for you and your loved ones. As I type I can feel The Trail of Tears.......I wish you all the best. Love one another and always treat others as you want to be treated. Tomorrow really is not promised to ANYBODY.

Its Hump Day! That's
something to celebrate in itself.
Have a good day.

Today's Topic: The Master Of Your Fate

Acceptance is something that most people yearn for. I mean as a child you are taught to get along with other children and to act accordingly in the presence of others. When you are little, most of the time you didn't really get an opportunity to choose your friends, they were usually those who you played with that wasn't family or just fellow daycare goers. But, regardless of their association you always wanted someone to like you or want someone to play with you. As an adult the stage is the same, but the choices are more diverse and complicated. Yet, one still wants someone to like them and play with them (pause).

While I know it is important to be liked and accepted, I have to raise the question: How far do you go to fit into one of those categories? It seems today that people do all kinds of crazy things to be a part of a group, gang, team, etc. I mean when my personal values and beliefs are challenged upon entry to any group, that is my red flag that this might not be the best fit for me. But, these days people are so desperate for attention and social acceptance that they will do anything just to be a part of something, even if it means breaking the law or worse.

I write today to explain to you that while you are whoring yourself to be a part of something else, you are daily losing your individuality. This is your life, and while it is important to assembly thy self, there is a point where you have to draw the line in the sand. You are The Master Of Your Fate. What I mean by this is, your choices, decisions, and actions determine what will transpire in your life. It's like the decision Neo had to make in the Matrix, whether to take the red or the blue pill. Don't let other people define you, or tell your story. Its sad because while you are trying so hard to be like others, they are secretly trying to become you. They are just waiting for you to vacate who you are so they can occupy your old spot. Don't let people change you. Remember, you are The Master Of Your Fate and what you say and do may be small or the difference between life and death. Is it really that serious? I don't think so.

Shock Value: Entry 153 "Think Positive"

0

Greetings All:
I hope this week is
fun and informative at
the same time.

Today's Topic: Think Positive

Maybe you all already know this, but I am still attempting to perfect the proper way to do this--Think Positive. It is of extreme importance that one Thinks Positive. I mean, if you look at the outcome of most situations, you really don't have a say so in the outcome. If you truly do all you can do to make the best of it, then you have to accept the outcome, win or lose, pass or fail. I believe in fate, in other words, what is happening now is already pre-destined. None of us can change the story, it is already written, but we can alter the chapters within the book.

Thinking Negatively will only make the improbable worse. I mean negative thoughts spawn negative actions with will produce negative outcomes. I try my hardest to avoid negative people and negativity as a whole. I don't do drama and I stay far away from liars. I try to make the best of each situation even if I know the outcome may not be favorable. People like me, I am sure, make other people sick to their stomachs. Because I am always Thinking Positive and trying to find the Good in the Worst situations. Hey, what else is there to do?! No need in trying to think negative; it won't help you in the least bit. Regardless of your circumstance, the scenario, your job, our any other situation, I strongly encourage you to Think Positive. Remember, what you Think sometimes influences what actually happens, both positively or negatively, good or bad. So do yourself a favor and Think Positive at all times

This Is My NEW Joint:Kanye West MTV VMAs 2010 LIVE

Shock Value: Entry 152 "The V.M.A.s/ The World Of Jenks"

0

Good Morning All:
Wow, well this weekend definitely
was interesting. That is to say the least.
Let me just get right to it.

Today's Topic: The V.M.A.s/The World Of Jenks

Once again, unless you live on Saturn or somewhere you should know that MTV's V.M.A.s or Video Music Awards show came on last night. At this point, I have to say the show was overall decent. I loved the stage, but could've done without the stereotypical negroid behavior by the black men who allowed themselves to be displayed in an unseemly fashion as usual. Perhaps, these rappers don't get it. How hard is it to understand that your behavior affects us all? People of other races and places already have a negative view of who we are, how we act, and the things we do. Must we always demonstrate that we are exactly what people think---ignorant. I am probably going off on a tangent and perhaps most of the world doesn't pay attention to the way we are portrayed but dang it, I do. I am sick and tired of us acting Negroid for the cameras. Thanks to your behavior last night. Once again you Ninjas have made the so called "Hood" proud while setting the rest of us and our race back another 40 years. In the words of Dave Chappelle, "They Shouldn't Have Never Gave You Ninjas Money!"

Now, I have to talk about this new documentary, the World of Jenks that premiered last night after the VMAs too. Just to give you all a little background information, the show follows a young documentary film maker who goes around the world experiencing the lives of various individuals. In the premiere episode last night, he was following NY Rapper Maino. OMFG! I was again more embarrassed and in disarray as usual. I don't understand what to expect from you Ninjas anymore. Not only did the guy get to see the worse of our people: poor dialect, smoking weed, strip clubs, alcoholism, etc., but the young man got a strong choke hold applied around his neck and slapped several times by none other than Maino himself. Was this just for tv and ratings? Who knows, but what I do know is the young man looked visibly disturbed and you could see where Maino put his hand around this guys neck and left an obvious mark. I was floored, flabbergasted, and disturbed beyond belief. When and where will it stop?! One can do and say almost anything on tv these days, except accidentally exposing a nipple, because that would get you fined out of your mind and black-balled from All major networks. Well with the exception of the cast from Jackazz--SMGDH AGAIN!

I want to scream! I am so mad at US. Sadly enough, I know this is just the beginning. We will have an Encore and do something far worse very soon.

Happy Sunday!

Today's Topic: And So It Begins

Some of you may be less interested or not interested in today's blog at all. But some of you just might. As you know today I am talking about something beginning. Do you know what that is? The 2010 National Football League Season. Well, of course Thursday really kicked off the season, but this is the First Sunday of the season--And So It Begins.

I am probably not as excited as some people I know, I mean especially here in LA, since this is home to last year's Super Bowl Champs. These fans are od'ing (overdosing.) I mean there are Saints stickers on cars, buses, airplanes, and any other thing you could think of. Now, I am not a Saints fan, especially not Reggie Bush, but I am glad this city received the win. After Katrina, Louisiana, New Orleans especially, needed that boost and they really deserved it.

I don't know who your team is, actually, I don't really have a team, I mean I like the Eagles cause of Vick, Bengals cause of TO and Ocho, Titans cause of Vince, and a few other players I root for when they play. At this very moment, I want to wish you and your team the best of luck. I am excited, but my homeboi C-Warr is ready to go to war with his Steelers like we are going back to Iraq. But to each its own. As long as he don't tear up nothing or pull a muscle.

Good luck teams and fans. I wish for a safe and exciting season. Let the games begin!

Shock Value: Entry 150 "College Athletics, To Pay Or Not To Pay"

0

Its Saturday, but I am
sure most of you are well
aware of that fact. Its pigskin
time, so I wish your favorite team
good luck today & tomorrow.

Today's Topic: College Athletics, To Pay Or Not To Pay

Today's topic is something that has been causing a buzz around the collegiate sports world for a while. Unless you live in Jupiter, you have heard of the various college athletes who have been fined, suspended, etc due to improper behaviors like taking monies from agents to attending parties with people who could have a stake in their future beyond college. The most infamous of all these has to be Reggie Bush of New Orleans Saints, USC fame. Now, I am no fan of Reggie and it has nothing to do with the fact that he used his talent to help keep the lights on, food on the table, and a car in the driveway. Am I upset that the brother may have done something wrong by taking monies as a college player, no. I can't judge that man. I didn't and still don't know his situation and what he had to endure. All I do know is, if you do the crime, you have to deal with what comes with that.

College athletics usually are the real money makers for most universities. I mean colleges and universities all over the nation rake in millions and millions of dollars with their athletic programs, especially if they are winning games and championships. But, the question I raise is the same one a number of others have been raising: Should these athletes be payed for all the revenue their skill is generating for the schools the attend? Here is my stance, No. Absolutely not. College athletes, including myself in my day, receive full or partial scholarships to attend these schools. Some of theses individuals are receiving $30-70,000 dollar educations for free, just because they play sports. That's a gift all in itself. The real problem is, these student athletes normally have no plans to graduate, they are just using college as a launching pad into the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. This is obvious, because most of them don't finish school and enter the draft years before they are scheduled to graduate from college.

Am I upset by it? In a way I am. Because it sets a precedence that if you are fast, quick, or have a certain athletic skill, you don't really need a college degree. And no matter what your talent is, you always need something to fall back on. All of us are one injury/incident away from having to make a career change. I understand these individuals are busting their butts on the fields and courts, but what about those who bust their butt in the labs and classrooms. Shouldn't they be getting paid too. Following the logic of some, that means students who have outstanding GPAs should be getting revenue, because their talent helps their schools with recruitment of other outstanding students too. I know I am probably on an island by myself, but I truly believe college athletes are more than compensated by the coaching and life skills they gain in sports and the opportunity at a quality education they can gain if they go to class and ultimately graduate.

Just my one and a half cents

Shock Value: Entry 149 "Cold-Hearted People Need Warm Loving"

0

Yep, Its here---Friday!
I wish you a safe and happy weekend.
Football season is here, so my weekends
are going to be cracking. I hope yours will
be too.

Today's Topic: Cold-Hearted People Need Warm Loving

Now, go ahead, laugh if you want to, but I am so serious. Cold-Hearted People Need Warm Loving. Have you ever met someone that is mad all the time? I mean every time you see them there is ALWAYS something wrong. Even when you try to cheer them up or offer words of encouragement, they still remain upset. Or have you encountered someone who seems like the are always waiting on the world to give them cash back in life? Like the world owes them something. Some of you may refer to these people in a different manner, but I think some of them are just Cold-Hearted and they Need some good Warm Loving.

Other who always seem to have it out for people are Cold-Hearted too. I mean those people who had an Ex in high school do wrong by them and now 2o years later they are still seeking revenge. Or that person who doesn't seem to care about anything or anyone. Or you have those people who are very selfish, self-centered, and are always looking out for themselves only. Once again, I refer to them as Cold-Hearted and they Need some Warm Loving.

I have no cure for Cold-Hearted individuals. My antidote is Warm Loving, but that too may not work. If you do have a care, perhaps you need to market it and sale it because you would make a fortune. These people are around you everyday, heck it might just be you. Spiteful people who cant accept their current circumstances in life and deal with it. Nope, they want to drive everyone else up a wall, with there hatred, vendettas, or plots to destroy others, either emotionally or physically. You Cold-Hearted folks out there, I pray for you. The only thing I can think of to Warm you and your heart up is some Warm Loving, but you probably will assassinate anyone who comes within two feet of your ignant, yes I said Ignant, AZZ.

Shock Value: Entry 148 "Men vs Women"

0

Happy Thursday Folks!
I hope you are having
a great week thus far.

Today's Topic: Men vs. Women

I am in a state of shock. I have been holding several conversations lately with Men and various Women. The more we speak on life, love, and the pursuit of happiness, the more I get the feeling that Men and Women are in a competition these days. Let me acknowledge that I am truly a male feminists at heart. I believe Women have been unjustly and unfairly treated since the beginning of time. There is a silent double standard out the that Men can do this, but if a Women does it, it's the worse thing ever.

Are we in a competition? I pose the question to you ladies. While I do understand that none of you NEED a Man, but what is wrong with HAVING one. If the answer is yes, what are we competing for? In this recession or post-recession depending on how you view the economy, the job market isn't hopping with opportunities for anyone, regardless of gender. But then again, am I not seeing the entire picture, am I biased as a MAN, even as I draft this? I have no idea. It is my hopes that I am not, because I believe a Woman can do anything a Man can. Actually, Women can do a number of things way better.

But I do raise this issue. Has it come down to this? Is it Women vs. Men. I just realized that I even put Men first in the title. I try not treat Women any different, but maybe I do. Ladies, I appeal to you to help me help you and other guys out there. I don't want to compete with you, unless we are playing a game to ten for your heart (Love & Basketball.) We need to work together to as a collective. We are stronger as a team then we are as an individuals. Men, take a step back and look at the role of a Woman, and the things they have to endure on a daily basis. I am not saying they deserve a pass, but we must realize that sometimes all of us can be sexist and see them as less than us. That just wrong no matter how you slice it! Help me get it right fellas. Chivalry is not dead! Ladies, we Men would be nothing without you. You absolutely won any competition when you were given the tasks as Mother Earth.
