Talk That Talk

0
It's so funny to me how many of you, Talk That Talk. It's simply amazing how people say they are going to do this and say they are going to do that, but the have no intention of doing one thing. I have learned a lot from my extended period of being a single educated brother. To include that due to the fact that so many other men, Talk That Talk, many women are very pessimistic and overly cautious with everything. I can't be mad at them though. Because so many brothers Talk That Talk. But at the end of the day, they are as worthless as a car with no tires, doors and engine.

I am saddened that people just lie so easily and don't care who their fairy tales hurt or destroy. I'm surprised that more people don't believe they are going to be held accountable for not only their actions, but their words as well. I write today to implore you to stop, Talking That Talk, and be a wo/man of action. Any one can speak, but can you do? It's like some of you have Talked That Talk so long, you no longer know what is fantasy and what is reality. But people, trust the old adage, "actions do speak louder than words. " Thus my advice to you, turn down or mute that Talk and blast/turn up your work. Best case---Talk That Talk & Walk That Walk.

Michael Vick: A Tale Of Redemption

0
Yesterday made me proud to be black man in american for the first time in a long time. After the debacle that was the VMAs, more specifically Lil Wayne and Tyler, I was elated to hear the news about my dude, Michael Vick and his new football contract. I know most of you could care less about Mike Vick and his new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, but Mike Vick's story is a true Tale of Redemption.

A w0/man in this life can do many things, some good, some bad. Other people feel that they can be the judge and jury for all that is bad. It's like they never made a mistake in their life, and they are tasked with the responsibility of convicting everyone around them. The story of Mike Vick is no different. This young man was and still is one of the most prolific football quarterbacks/players of all times. But, because he made a mistake, a jury of his peers (what a joke) convicted him to serve time in prison for dog fighting charges. He did everything they asked of him. Vick served his time; did his community service; lost all his contracts; lost endorsements; lost his homes and destroyed his reputation. Vick became a felon and had to start all the way over again. After serving his time, the brother not only toured the nation to talk to kids about staying out of trouble, but he fought to get federal legislation drafted against people who fight dogs. What more do you want from this man? There are other people who have done a lot worse and we have accepted them back into our homes, pulpits and lives as if nothing ever happened. Doesn't Mike Vick deserve the same?

I can tell you one thing, I am most proud of Andy Reid and the entire Philadelphia Eagles organization. They not only recognized that Vick has great talent, but he deserved another chance. Today, Michael Vick and I thank the Atlanta Falcons for letting him go and suing to take every dime you paid him back. We thank those marketing folks who decided to revoke all his endorsements and make the brother have to sell even the house he bought for his mother. Most importantly, we thank all of you who still show up to Eagles games with dogs and signs saying he is a murderer. Without any of you his 6 year/ $120 million dollar contract wouldn't taste so sweet. That my friends is what I call, A Tale Of Redemption. If GOD can forgive, who are we not to? Congrats Michael Vick; today we salute you and wish you the best!!!

2011 MTV Video Music Awards

0
First and foremost, I must begin by saying I am really proud that people from all races, genders, socio-economic status, genres of music, etc. can get together for an event of this magnitude and act civil. For over 30 years MTV has been providing us with this awards show and violence is always absent. (Takes a deep breath)

Elllp!!! Now that that 'ish is out the way, let me get to the reason you all are here. On one hand I thought the show was marginal at best. But, on the other hand I realize that music and musicians have changed so much these days one can not expect to see shows like those back in the day. Shows who featured the likes of Prince, Usher, Jodeci, B2K, New Edition, Creed, U2, Whitney, Janet and Michael Jackson, just to name a few. So, perhaps my expectations were a little too high. Let me say how proud I am of Beyonce for letting the whole world in on her new life expectancy. I am not a fan, but she is finally going to be a mom; congrats Bey & Jay! I am also proud of Chris Brown. I think his performance last night is doing wonders for his reputation and image, which many media outlets still try to ruin as if they never made a mistake when they were young. Additionally, I am so so proud of my boy Kanye who behaved like a gentleman and a scholar during the whole show. Big Ups to K-Hart, Lady Gaga, Adele & the Boss, Rick Ross.

Now, lets get to those who made me want to walk right out of my flesh and into Heaven. Let's begin with Tyler the UnCreator. What a mockery you made of yourself, your shouting and praising the lord (not sure which one) mother, your entire movement and every young black man in America. How dare you get up on that stage and use that type of language? You represented everything bad/negative about black men in America. Thanks for reinforcing every stereotype me and others try to destroy on a daily. But what can you expect from a clown who eats roaches in his video then hurls while the camera is still recording. Please sir, blind-fold yourself and walk directly in the direction of the nearest interstate/highway. Next, I have to speak on it. I don't care what you all think, but Lil Wayne's performance was strange, boring and pointless. Man I can't wait until T.I. get home! America you have created the martian that is Dwayne Carter. He can do no wrong in your eyes and he truly believes it. What a horrific way to end the show. Weezy, listen to me young brother: at this point you no longer have to pretend to be hood, ignorant or thuggish. We all know you graduated from college, with honors and you have the business acumen of a young LA Reid. The reason you choose to abandon anything positive and continue to portray the worse that New Orleans/black america has to offer puzzles me. I only have two words for you young man--Grow Up. You are a father, a son, a record label executive, a mentor and most importantly an extremely talented young man. Please try to act like it. Some Ninjas just don't get it.

It is my hopes that next year, something new and fresh will arise to positively represent our community. I am tired of the same old, I got money, I got hoes, & I am a blood act. At some point we have to realize that there is a war going on around us, and if we don't do something about it, our future will be today; because we won't see tomorrow.

After The Storm

0
Most of us can breathe a sigh of relief. Irene wasn't as bad as we expected. However, it wasn't all good either. There were still instances in which people lost their lives. Power outages, fallen trees and flooding will have ill affects thousands as well. I am glad that things weren't as bad as expected. But, I must warn all of you that the clean up and rotation back to normal life may take a while. All of us must be patient with public officials, city workers, public transportation systems and the airlines as they try to restore these major services and bring them back on line. The After The Storm period sometimes is worse then the actual storm. But, I ask all of you to be patient. There will be disruptions, but we will be back to our 9-5s and back to talks about the election, jobs and President Obama in no time.

We are now After The Storm, but the season has just begun. Let's just brace ourselves because this may be the first, but not the last I'm sure. Hunker down and pray; this may be a rough one.

Lil Wayne - How To Love

1

Act Like You Belong Here

0
Sometimes I think a number of your cousins are from another planet. I mean, they have no manners and they act like the were raised with apes. Now, maybe I am not talking about you, but you definitely some of your people are most embarrassing. I just want to pull them to the side and say to them, "for goodness sakes please Act Like You Belong Here."

There are some people I wouldn't take to the woods, even if we were the only people there. Not only do they make you ashamed of your race when they open up their mouth, but they have no sense of volume. They speak normally like we are in a night club standing by the speakers. In my mind, I am like, "Ma'am/Sir you are at 100, I need you at a 4." It's sad, but you know it is true. Some of you and your friends stick out of any crowd no matter where you are. Note to self, that ain't always cool, a good thing or due to your Swag. It's because you don't know how to Act Like You Belong Here or anywhere for that matter. Some of you are in denial, because you may fall into this category, but at the moment you aren't exhibiting any of these behaviors. So you can't acknowledge this is you. Once you come out of denial, take a moment to read this little note I have drafted for you. It states, "We all love you to death, but at least for five minutes can you, "Act Like You Belong Here?" Please!!!

Hurricane Irene Is On Its Way To The US

Hurricane Irene

0
***This Is A Public Service Announcement***

Citizens of WoodWorkz!!! If you live on the east coast and may be in the path of the Hurricane, please heed to all the evacuation warnings and following the procedures you have been asked to in your area. I know some of you are like doubting Thomas, you have to see it to believe it. But, don't let your doubt cause you to be taken out. Don't be a statistic. We want each of you to be safe and to make sure you are able to make it through this storm. Category 1, 3 or 4, a hurricane is still very powerful with very strong winds that can rip power lines down and break windows. Take the necessary precautions people and do the right thing for once. Take heed to all warnings and threats! States are closing streets and highways as I type. So, if you want to get out without a lot of interruption, you might want to be on your way.

We pray the storm turns and no one is negatively affected. But let us all pray for the best and plan for the the worse. One Love.

Mirror Check

0
I believe it is imperative for each of us to conduct frequent Mirror Checks. No, I am not referring to Checking yourself in the actual Mirror in the morning or while you are in the bathroom. The Mirror Check I am referring to is a process of Checking yourself before you attempt to Check others. All of us need to be more aware of the role and the part we play in arguments, disagreements and other tough situation.

Most of us are quick to blame others, while giving ourselves a pass on the situation. But, we must learn to take a moment to conduct a Mirror Check. Look deep within our Mirror (ourselves) and see what we should've or could've done differently. Perhaps you did things exactly as you deemed them necessary. If that is the case, then your Mirror Check should be swift but still necessary. No matter how great we think we are or what we believe we have mastered, there is always room for improvement. Keep a Mirror handy; it may help you Check Yourself, Before You Wreck Yourself.

Your Comfort Zone

0
Some situations cause you to move out of your safe place/Your Comfort Zone and into a new place. I know all of us prefer not to have to deal with things that make us feel uncomfortable, but we have to learn to embrace these challenges. Your Comfort Zone represents a space where you feel the most safe, the most relaxed, but it also represents the place where you are most complacent. If you don't make a conscious effort to move out of Your Comfort Zone, you will find yourself doing things the same way they have always been done. Not because that's the best, smartest or most efficient way of doing it, but because you simply have gotten lazy and stuck in Your Comfort Zone. I challenge each of you to step outside of Your Comfort Zone today. Try and experience new things, feats and challenges. That is honestly what life is all about---not playing it safe.

Your Roots

0
When I speak of Your Roots, I am not talking about your ancestry. I am speaking about the Roots you have grown from the place you have been planted in this life. Each of us have been been planted in a certain place for a certain time to fulfill a certain Destiny. Your Roots are what keep you grounded in that place. I warn you not to let people up-Root you from the place GOD has planted you. Your Roots are in that soil for a reason and you shouldn't move because other people make you feel uncomfortable, talk about you or don't appreciate you being Rooted there. It is not their ground. Therefore, you shouldn't care what they say or do.

Your Roots are where they are for a reason. When the POTTER is ready to move you somewhere else, you will know because HE will either dig you up in order for you to move to a new place or HE will instruct you that it is time for you to take Your Roots elsewhere. No wo/man on this earth should cause you to relocate Your Roots!!!

A Brand New Day

0
I know some people don't do mornings. But, frankly I love 'em! Man, there is something special about waking up and seeing the light peering through the blinds, waiting for you to open them up and let some good ole' natural light in. I love the mornings most of all because each one signifies the beginning of A Brand New Day.

Yes, yesterday is gone and everything that happened in it too. Tomorrow is still on the horizon, but Today is here. A Brand New Day gives us all a chance to let go of the old and usher in the new. A Brand New Day provides us with a chance to once again work towards achieving our personal and professional goals. A Brand New Day is one more shot at getting it right. I don't know about you, but I am most thankful for everyday. But, I exhalt the MOST HIGH especially for giving me A Brand New Day to manifest that which is my Destiny. You should too.

The Power of Forgiveness

0

Greetings All: I wanted to take a moment today to share with you something that I have learned over the years. It took me a minute to comprehend this, but as I get older and the more I learn people, I have gained a new understanding of it. I write you all today to tell you that one of the most important things you can do in this life is learn to Forgive. The Power of Forgiveness is amazing and can truly change your life forever.

You will always go through things in this life, some good, some bad and some things truly horrible, but you have to take all of them in stride. Each obstacle, challenge or experience in your life is just preparing you for your Destiny. Holding on to every occurrence or situation in which you were betrayed or hurt will weigh you down and slow your personal and professional growth. I am not encouraging you to pretend these things never happened. Nor am I saying you need to forget, but you have to learn to Forgive.

Forgiving others will open up more room in your heart and life to let new people in who truly have your best interest in mind. The Power of Forgiveness is unlimited. Once you master the art of Forgiving, you will be able to take progressive steps toward healing. You can move past that which was holding you back and by freeing yourself, you can now live your life. If you don't believe in The Power of Forgiveness, just give it a try. Think of someone who has hurt you, talked about you or abused your friendship. Close your eyes, say a little prayer for them and end it by saying, "I Forgive You." Watch how you feel once that burden is lifted. It's an amazing feeling. Trust me, it ain't easy, but you have to at least start trying to Forgive today. Or you will live the rest of your life---dead on the inside and incapable of giving anything to those who truly deserve what you have to offer.

SpotLight: G-Money's "The Journey"

0
Every now and then I come across great inspirational, motivational and truly uplifting pieces. Some of them I receive via text, e-mail or through personal communication. I have decided that just as I share my words with you all in an effort to positively impact your life, I should share the phenomenal words others send to me. Thus, I will start posting them, with permission of course from the authors. Today's piece is called "The Journey." It was written by none other than the O.G., G-Money. He is my idle, my partner in crime and most importantly, my big brother. I hope you enjoy it, as much as I did.

The Journey
When making a Journey to a destination your allowed to get off on any exit;
whether to browse, consume or relax.
Just remember where there is an exit ramp,
across from it lies the entrance ramp to get back on the highway.
Your destination lies ahead.
Let the Rubber meet the road,
until you reach the end of your Journey.

Have a great weekend all!!!

Flash-Mob Thugs Hit A 7-11

0

Flash-Mob Thugs

0
I know some of you have heard of Bone Thugs, Thug Life or Thugs in general, but have your heard of the latest group of kids known as Flash-Mob Thugs. This is what the media and the mayor of Philadelphia calls these young kids who assemble in various places to participate in an act that is called Flash-Mobbing. Now, in case you have never heard of the term, Flash-Mobbing, let me try to explain it to you. Flash-Mobs originally were peaceful gathering where a ton of people show up to dance, participate in some fun activity or break some world record. But, today, thanks to Flash-Mob Thugs, these gathering are violent and dangerous to all. Flash-Mobbing in these latest incidents are when a group of kids alert each other via text, Twitter or some other outlet to meet at a particular place at the same time. I don't mean like a few kids getting together to hang out. I am talking about 50-100 kids assembling at one place at the same time. And what do they do when they get there you may ask? They beat up random people on the street or bombard local stores and steal chips, soda, candy and/or anything that isn't nailed down. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, these are your Flash-Mob Thugs.

The youngest kid involved to have been arrested was like 11 years old. This is a sad because these kids are so young and they are throwing their lives away. The most notable place for the Flash-Mob movement currently is Philadelphia. But trust it is coming to a city and town near you very soon. The mayor of Philly was on CNN last night to discuss the fact that there are programs for the kids to get involved in other than the Flash-Mob movement. His talk was slated to appeal to the parents of these mis-guided kids. He said ever so eloquently, "We will help you raise you kids, but we will not raise them for you."

I am not sure who to blame for these Flash-Mob activities. At first glance, you want to blame the parents. But some of these kids don't have parents. They have guardians, and grandma is doing all she can to rear them right, but she is resting when they sneak out. One may then choose to blame the city for lack of programs and activities. But you can put on as many parties and events as you like, if the kids choose not to participate, it's a doesn't solve a thing. Perhaps, we can blame the schools and teachers. The Churches and the community leaders are out there for possible blame too. Maybe we can blame the government, for not doing enough to provide jobs for the parents of these kids. Or we can point to the finger at Rap Music or the ignorant culture of Rap in itself. I am not so sure who or what is the blame, but what I do know is this is going to go south real soon. Eventually, somebody or somebodies are going to get really hurt and then it will be to late to save these kids. All I can say at this moment is we have to wait and see how this ends. It is my hopes that these Flash-Mob Thugs are going through a phase and in a few days/weeks this whole Flash-Mobbing mentality will go away; before they start shooting and killing these babies...Yes, babies...these are babies trying to be as my G-Ma would say it, "Too Grown For Their Own Good."

Over There

0
Can anyone tell me where Over There is? It is always funny when you are talking to people and you ask them for something and they are like, "It's Over There." Of course your natural, I don't want to go off or get upset response is, "Over Where?" I think this exchange signifies how important the need for effective communication is. So you say it's Over There, but even when you pointed, you did it so fast we have no idea still where Over There is. As a matter of fact, a number of things are Over There. Heck, depending on where I am standing, you are Over There. I simply raise this issue because I think all of us can do a little better in making ourselves clearer and explaining exactly where Over There is. I know it takes a little extra time and patience, but I believe clarity and precise location is better than just having others aimlessly wandering around.

I know some of you are like, what in the h.e. double hockey sticks I am talking about? Well, the topic is right Over There. How can you not keep up? It's located Over There and the message is Over There. All you have to do to find the message for today is read that Over There. Now how much of a waste or semi-annoying was those last few lines? But, I draft this today, simply to ask all of you to work on the way in which you communicate with others. If other people perceive you as being short or rude, there is some truth to their perception. I know we live in a generation where a number of you could care less what people think about you. But, take it from someone who you know cares. Simply saying, "Over There" ain't going to cut it. We need more details, more direction and more insight if you really want us to know where Over There is. Don't be sending us on a wild goose chase. Shucks, we got things to do too! So you go sit Over There and think about what I just said. Just in case you are unsure of where you need to go, your Over There, is in the nearest corner, also called---Time Out.

You Just Keep Living Long Enough..

0
I remember when I was young I thought I knew everything about everything. No matter what the topic or situation was, not unlike most kids, I thought my G-Ma had no idea what was the best choice for me and/or no idea what she was talking about. Never did I question her, for fear of losing my breath when she chopped me in my throat. But, you couldn't tell me anything. I remember vividly, having conversations with my G-Ma about everything from church to women. She would end all our discussions by saying, "You Just Keep Living Long Enough and you will I am right."

Of course as a kid, with an adolescent thought process, no one could've imagined that their parents would end up being right about 99.9% of the time. My G-Ma use to tell me about my so-called friends, my attitude and especially my affinity for women (thanks dad.) But, just like most of you, the kid wasn't trying to hear it. And as always, she would say, "You Just Keep Living Long Enough." Boy, was she on point. While I am not sure I have still been Living Long Enough, I do know that if I knew a lot of the things I know now, I probably could've saved myself a lot of heart ache and pain. But such is life. What happens to us, is suppose to happen, unless we make choices that lead us a stray or horribly misguide us.

I write today, to encourage all of you to be more aware of the things you do and say to others. Also, take a moment out of your busy day to talk to your younger sibling(s), nephew/niece(s) and/or a student of yours. Especially those who may not be making the best choices in life. There is no need to scold them, but simply give them a piece of knowledge like my G-Ma gave to me. Tell them, "You Just Keep Living Long Enough, either you will end up a failure or you can live right into your Destiny and become a Success." If you are one of those people who think you have it all figured out or know everything about everything. Today I say to you "You Just Keep On Living Enough..."

Review: In The Flow With Affion Crockett

0
I am not sure if many of you saw it last night, but the Jamie Foxx produced show, starring Affion Crockett premiered on Fox last night. Now let me begin by saying I am proud that a brother has his on show on a major network. We are a very talented people, but oftentimes are talents are overlooked at major networks. So congrats Affion! He put a lot of work in, especially on YouTube and is deserving of his shot at fame and fortune. In The Flow is a sketch comedy show. If you aren't familiar with sketch comedy, it is framed like the grandfather of all sketch comedy, In Living Color or the most recent success, the Chappell Show. I only speak of those two shows in reference to In The Flow being a sketch comedy show, because unfortunately, it is no where near either of the aforementioned.

I guess as I get older, I am more aware of the plight of the black men in america or the plight of people of color in general. I am more cognizant of the way are portrayed in social media and television and the way we portray ourselves. While Affion Crockett is indeed a talented young man and I am very excited he is using his GOD-given talent for something positive, there is a line that even today's comedians must not cross. One of which is portraying the President of the United States as a gambler, a weed smoker or a person who gets it on with other Sarah Palin looking women outside of his marriage. Was this at all funny? Not in the least bit to me!!! Not only is this an election year, but President Obama has enough pressure/issues he has to deal with. Any light we shine on the brother from our community must be bright and progressive. He already has gets negative press/ure from the left.

In The Flow With Affion Crockett appeals to the portion of the population that Fox needs. Thus, his show will probably be a lucrative venture for he and Jamie Foxx. But it is no In Living Color or not even a close third to the Chappell Show. And we all know Dave offended everybody and their momma. However, Mr. Crockett I wish you and In The Flow well. I sincerely hope your show makes it through its first season. But this is one person who values his small amount of television time too much to waste it watching more negative impressions of a people who need uplifting and encouragement as they are dying and killing each other daily senselessly. How about you Sketch that!

Keeping In Touch

0
I am the worse when it comes to Keeping In Touch. Especially as it relates to Keeping In Touch with people who don't Keep In Touch with me. This is an interesting topic because I know that it is important that we all Keep In Touch. There is no reason/excuse any of us can use that prevents us from Keeping In Touch. We have so much technology today, that we can instantly Keep In Touch with anyone, anywhere in the world.

I ask you, well those of you who are were born before the 90s, to think back. Remember back in the day when we didn't have smart phones, texting and/or twitter. The only way you could really Keep In Touch with anyone instantly was if you called them on their minute phone, paged them on their beeper and/or actually went over to their home. Man, so much has changed! Now-a-days, you don't have any delays that prevent you from Keeping In Touch. I encourage all of you to attempt to Keep In Touch with those you loved and even those you don't as much as possible. You never know when your initial conversation may be your last. I can admit I need to do better with Keeping In Touch myself. Perhaps we can do this together. This is what we'll do, Keep In Touch with me and I will Keep In Touch with you.

Football Season Is Here

0
If you have been on planet Mars and have no idea what has been going on on earth, the NFL Lockout is over. For those of you who don't know what a lockout is. No it is not that someone in the NFL got to this huge door and realized they left the NFL keys inside on the kitchen table. It's a negotiating process between the owners of each NFL team/franchise and the current and former players. It's when the owners decide how much compensation they are going to dish out and the players decide what they think is fair. It took longer then usual, but it is officially over and now Football Season Is Here. Not soccer, but Football Americano. The one without the goalies and red cards.

Preseason games are going on over the course of the next few weeks and then it will be time for the real deal. Football Season means a lot to some people and very little to others. I enjoy the sportsmanship, camaraderie and teamwork that sports in general display. Although I think that some athletes are a bit irresponsible, so are we all. Football Season Is Here. If you don't have a team, what are you waiting on? I know some of you, women and men alike, don't understand the sport at all. You think it's just people running back and forth, up and down a field pounding on each other. But, it's so much more.

If you are sitting around doing nothing, I encourage you to check out a game or two. My Philadelphia Eagles welcome new fans daily. Just don't be a bandwagon rider. Don't pick a team, just because they are winning or win all the time. The Eagles organization and I aren't a fan of those persons. LOL, like they care anything about what I have to say! Anywho, I wish all the teams the best and you fans as well. Football Season Is Finally Here; let's see who makes it to the Super Bowl this year. Go Team, Goooooo!!!

The Urban Dictionary, Not So Urban At All

0
Of course you all know that I am not a fan of a number of things. But there are certain things that I really, really dislike. For instance, just recently I was online searching for a synonym to a particular word I was attempting to use in one of my writings. I looked through several online resources and then there was this one site called The Urban Dictionary. Naturally inquisitive and always wanting to explore new things, I clicked on the link. I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me say this right here and right now, "We already do a great job of making a fool of ourselves, we don't need our anglo-saxaon or other brown brothers and sisters to join in on the make a fool of negros parade.!" The Urban Dictionary is a sad mockery of what it is to be ethnic or a person of color. It only took a couple of seconds before I realized that this so-called Urban Dictionary Wasn't So Urban At All. As a matter of fact, I knew off top, that no group of colored folks would sit around and come up with a Dictionary that incorrectly and horribly defines words used or not used at all within their community. The Urban Dictionary is buffoonery. It is a group of website contributors/owners parading around in black-face throwing around terminology that they came up/heard while having a drunken night of madden or watching tosh 2.o.

I can't think of one good thing to say about The Urban Dictionary other then I'm glad it isn't a t.v. show yet. And I hope if you haven't seen it, you check it out. Because as a parent, a big brother/sister or cousin, you should be aware of what's out their in cyber-space that may be negatively influencing the generations of today and tomorrow. The Urban Dictionary is a collection of ignorance and blasphemy. It's supposed to be funny, but it's not. It's very distasteful, disrespectful and at times, corny at best. Worst, The Urban Dictionary Is Not So Urban At All. Take off your mask modern day clan members, show us your face---cowards.

P.S.- Token negros parade around in black face too. Ask Amos and Andy!

History Always Repeats Itself

0
Some very wise and intelligent people will tell you that History Always Repeats Itself. I wonder is that really true. If History Always Repeats Itself, is it truly History? Things/events that are History are a part of the Past and if they are happening at some point in the Now or Tomorrow, wouldn't that be in the Present or Future? Some things that have occurred in my Past seem to similarly happen again at some point in my life. But, I am not so sure that is History Repeating Itself.

I would like to think that what makes History so significant is the fact that is has happened and we can move forward knowing it is a part or our Past. Thus, we can continue to focus on the Present, in our attempt to make Future History. However, I am smart enough to know that in some History situation/scenarios are Ever-Present and no matter what we do they will find their way into our daily lives. So I ask, "Does History Repeat Itself or are we just Presently stuck in the Past?" Hmm....

These Things Must Stop

1
Call a rant if you will. But there are certain things that are going on that have to Stop. I don't get how we all sit around and allow theses things to go on around us and we don't do anything about it. I am sick of it! So from now on, I am going to speak up and start calling people/things out. I will share a few things with you now and more over the course over time. These Things Must Stop and/or come to an end immediately. I hope you concur, but if not, I could care less. Your probably part of the problem.

These Things Must Stop:

1) Photographers: please stop putting backdrops of President Obama up in the club. This man is a national figure, not a hood-figure. Find someone else to let drunk, ignorant, and unfashionable people take pictures in front of. This is just ridiculous.

2) Rap and Rappers are wack! Just because you can rhyme, doesn't make you talented. Some of you all are so gullible. The dude is saying all woman are hoes and b%tches and your ignorant a$$ rapping right along with him. Yes, the ninja is talking about you, your momma, your sister and every other female you know. But you love it don't you?!

3) Fellas: Everybody can't be a pimp. Stop being little boys running from commitment because you got hurt in high school. Real pimps aren't driven by vagina, they driven by money. At least their hoes, got a career. Y'all so-called pimping 15/16 year olds. That's statutory raping, not pimping.

4) People, we all can't live like people on t.v. No matter what you do, you won't ever be as small as Jennifer Hudson, as good looking as LL or as rich as Puffy. Let it go! Do you. Why is everyone so afraid of being themselves or independent? If those individuals were you, they wouldn't be them. So stop trying to live their lives.

5) Ladies: Look around you. Some of you are so caught up in your own selfish life that you are not doing a thing to keep your little cousins, daughters or the other neighborhood girls from making the same mistakes you did. Teenage pregnancy is getting worse, and until you women decide to do something thing about it, these young innocent girls, are going to keep seeking love between their legs. And sadly enough, your boyfriend, husband, uncle or cut-friend is going to keep giving them the temporary satisfaction these little girls think they need.

6) We all need to stop talking about other people and start encouraging/helping them. It makes no sense for you to be doing well, but your so-called friend/loved ones don't have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of. We are so fricking selfish these days. People died so we can have these freedoms we have today and most of us don't do a da*mn thing for anyone else, but ourselves. Keep pleasuring yourself, you will end up by yourself in the end.

7) Stop talking so much and do something. All you do is talk about this and talk about that. Why don't you do something to change it? If you hate your job, quit. If you girl/boyfriend sucks, break up with them. If you don't like the way you are living, move. Stop talking about making a change and just make the change. Don't talk about it, be about it. We don't want to hear you keep lying to us about things you aren't going to do in this lifetime. Please make us all wrong and do something unexpected soon.

I could keep going, but I want to spread these out. The sad thing about it is most people don't think anything is wrong with the aforementioned. But, they are very wrong. You may not agree with what I just wrote, but there is some truth in every situation. We need to take back our world, or the world will keep taking from us. Life is too short. Either you can live this life alive, or you can live it dead. I choose Life.

Defeated I Won't Be

1
Just yesterday, I was informed that someone very special to me, Mr. Michael "Money" Haynes passed away. He, just like my home-girl Quiana lost a battle to cancer. Currently, the score is cancer-2, me-0. But I am here to inform you and cancer that I Won't Be Defeated.

Most recently, people that I thought were like blood to me, chose a job/money over our relationship. It wasn't the choice I would've made and now that I reflect on it, it really disappointed and hurt me. But such is life, I Won't Be Defeated.

Just this a.m. I was awakened to a call from my dearest. Someone vandalized my motorcycle over the night. I had to wait hours on the police because they did a lot of damage to my bike. And of course I don't have the proper insurance to cover the damages. But, I write to inform you, whoever you are, I Won't Be Defeated.

One thing I have learned living this life is just when you are on the cusp of change, making a difference or doing something great, the enemy begins to throw everything he has at you. But, I know I am a child of the Most High and it will take a lot more than these occurrences. I will be a lot of things, but DEFEATED I WON'T BE!!! Neither should you.

Sings, "Keep on moving, keep on moving, don't stop nooo..."

Wake Up: So Sad

0

Sadly, in this day and age you would think that Americans are far beyond these types of inhuman racially charged crimes. I mean.. How could something like this happen? We have an African American president, African Americans are earning more and going farther in the corporate world as well as the political realm. So again I ask, how could something like this happen? How could kids, who have so much, harbor so much hatred?

Reality Check --> Lets be honest, we may have a Black president, but it's still very much a white mans world. So what on earth could those kids have to be so angry and hateful about? I suppose these types of incidents really puts things into perspective about where we truly are as Americans. But whats even worse, as far as I'm concerned, is that in light of these types of crimes against our people and our community, we as African Americans have the nerve to Beef, hate on, and fight with each other everyday. If we treat ourselves and our people harshly, how can we expect others to treat us? I'll tell you how: we don't respect ourselves therefore others have no respect for us.

So brothers and sisters -- respect yourself, respect your family, and repspect your community. Its the only way to teach others.

Potential

0
All of us have the Potential to do something good. Some of us have the Potential to do great. But, others rarely use their Potential for anything positive. Your Potential doesn't determine who you are, but more-so what is stored inside you already to be who you are or who you want to become. Potential shouldn't be measured from one person to another, as we all have varied levels of it. But, we should recognize that we all have Potential to do something. Whether or not you use it is another case.

Potential is like energy, you shouldn't waste it. It's one of those gifts you didn't have to pay for and its invaluable. Take a moment to realize and recognize not only the Potential in you, but the Potential in others. Knowing the Potential in your kids, loved ones, friends, co-workers and associates will help you understand why they may be driven to do what they do all the time. Potential may not make or break you, but it will definitely give you a much needed push in the right direction. Potential should be used; so what are you waiting for?

Operation Me

0
I feel like Dr. Dre at this very moment; I need a doctor. I think over the course of the last three years or so especially, I lost track of what was important to the pursuit of my destiny. I believe for the greater portion of my life, I have spent it being a fuel station for others. Patrons or so-called associates/friends/family have been driving through me, filling up their cars and moving on. I was content with this process until just recently. I was blinded by my own nurturing spirit, compassion and/or love. But, certain occurrences have brought clarity to my actions and helped me realize that they where/are having an ill-affect on my life. So today, I shall begin what I call: Operation Me.

I have decided that it is imperative that I take a vacation from my current ways and actions, and re-construct Me. I, not unlike all of you, am imperfect and flawed. But, I have decided from henceforth that to truly help others and change this world I have to be the best Me I can be. Thus, Operation Me, is going in full effect immediately. I want to make an impact on not just those in my sight, my peripheral or in my present, but I aim to change the world as we know it. But only by initiating Operation Me will I be able to do just that. So to all of you who may never hear from me again, know that this is a necessary action. Please don't take it personal, but Operation Me is way bigger than you or I. Operation Me will ultimately benefit us all in the long run; trust Me. Perhaps, you should focus on Operation You. That may help you understand Operation Me. If not, only time will inevitably reveal all those things which we may not currently understand presently. Love me or Hate Me, Operation Me is beginning in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.....

Destination Unknown

0

You have to believe me when I tell you this: One of the best things in life is traveling. As I have stated before, I don't see how people go their entire life and never leave their neighborhood, block or burrough. I am a true fan of all modes of transportation, but I love the friendly skies the most. I use to plan every trip, but these days I don't even grab a map. I back a bag & hit the nearest airport headed to Destination Unknown.

I think most people have the wrong perception when it comes to traveling or vacationing in general. With the state of the economy currently, you can find the best deals on numerous travel sites that will take you anywhere in the world. Companies are giving away trips to places you would normally have to pay a "pretty penny" for. There are so many Destinations out there, many known and many Unknown. Pick one for goodness sakes and get off that couch. Some of you act like your job will close down if you take a day off; Boy/Girl please!!! Even the President of these United States takes a day off. So what makes you think you can't. Don't let this life pass you by. There is a Destination Unknown out there right now, with a room, a beach & a drop top rental car with your name all over it. The summer is almost over; head to your Destination Unknown---Today.

Change(s)

0
We all go through Changes in this life. Some Changes are mental. Some Changes are physical. Some Changes are spiritual or emotional. No matter what type of Changes they are, you must learn to embrace and accept them. As the old adage states, "the only thing constant in this life is Change." In lames terms, that means, even it tomorrow doesn't come, Change will. No matter what, things around you, in you and/or close to you will Change, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Changes will happen and most of them you won't be able to prepare for. But don't get discouraged. Changes are a sign of progression. Changes are a sign of newness. If things always stayed the same and never Changed, this life wouldn't be worth living. As you embark upon the future Changes in your life, understand that they are necessary for your personal growth and development. If the people around you or the environment around you doesn't Change, then you need to Change who you hang out and where you chose to live. Change should excite you and motivate you to want to see more Changes. No one should want to be the same or do the same thing forever and always. Be an ambassador for Change. Be a Change-Agent. Be the Changes you want to see in this world. Change your mind, Change a life, Change yourself and Change something----every single day.
