Love Somebody

0

There is way too much hate going around for me. People hating on each other, people hating each other and hate is causing so many pointless wars and acts of violence. I don't understand the emotion hate. As a matter of fact, I know I have enemies, well they think they are my enemies, but I do not hate them. Frankly, I don't hate anyone. Hate is such a strong, powerful word and emotion, but just like kryptonite to Superman, it's powerless against Love. Love is the essence of this world and the fuel of man-kind. Thus, I write today, to ask you to Love Somebody, to include yourself. Before you think about talking bad about Somebody, or hating on them, trying Loving them. I am sure at the end of the day, it will make you and them feel a lot better. Love Somebody today.

This Day of Memorial

0

From USMemorialday.org & News One:

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women's groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the Civil War. But according to one Yale University professor, A celebration and burial of dead soldiers held by African Americans on May 1, 1865, on a South Carolina burial ground was the first recorded Memorial Day. Professor David Blight says many Union soldiers were buried improperly in a burial ground that once was a race track. After the Civil War ended, many blacks returned to the grounds to give the fallen soldiers proper burials.

While Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it's difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day. It is more likely that it had many separate beginnings; each of those towns and every planned or spontaneous gathering of people to honor the war dead in the 1860's tapped into the general human need to honor our dead, each contributed honorably to the growing movement that culminated in Gen Logan giving his official proclamation in 1868. It is not important who was the very first, what is important is that Memorial Day was established. Memorial Day is not about division. It is about reconciliation; it is about coming together to honor those who gave their all.

Like most holidays, some of us take the actual purpose of those days for granted. We just celebrate having another day off from work, rather than acknowledging why we are off from work. Today, I ask you in between your barbecue, low country boil, or tv dinner, that you take a moment, to pay respect to all of those who fought countless uncalled for wars for this freedom that we have, which wasn't so free at all. Because there were/are young wo/men all over the world who are sacrificing their time, money, and giving their lives so you and I can be----Free. Don't ever forget that!!! We are allowed to do what we do, because someone gave up something so we could have some things. Be appreciative, be thankful, and do take time to commemorate/remember/celebrate those who are the reason for This Day Of Memorial.

We at WoodWorkz thank you and salute you all.

Changing People

0

Every day we are Blessed to wake up, we have another opportunity to positively impact this world we live in. Although this isn't easy, we still have to try to make a difference in this life. As Gandhi and President Obama instructs us, "We must be the Change in this world we want to see." How difficult is that? It depends on you and the People around you. Because as the old adage goes, "Change is the only thing constant in the world." Things around you are always Changing, but some People around you aren't/won't. Which makes things very complicated, because if the world is Changing and you're Changing, to really leave your mark, you must this attempt feat of Changing People.

Now, let me be clear. There is a huge difference between Changing People for their betterment, and Changing them for your own personal gain. For instance, I don't believe People should have to Change to be in a relationship with you and I don't believe you should try to Change anyone for this type of situation either. When it comes to matter of the heart, People should be allowed to be who they really are. Alternatively, what I do believe, is there are some People who are complacent, lost, uninspired, depressed and without their own personal will to help themselves. These are the People that I believe we all must assist in Changing or helping them see that their is a way out or more to life then their current circumstance.

The key to Changing People is to be an example for them. If you are encouraging them be more assertive, to get involved, to take control of their circumstances and situations, you must be a person who has command of all those things. When Changing People you can't be a hypocrite! Oftentimes, your actions are going to be the key to the other person's will or inspiration to Change. But know, they have to want to Change first; you can't make them. It isn't easy Changing People, but it is fulfilling if you truly help them Change for all the right reason. Everyone needs someone to have their back and serve as their guide to get from where they have been, and where they are, to where they are going. Somebody somewhere helped Change you. Thus, it is imperative you give back and assists in this mammoth assignment of Changing other People. They could use all the help they can get, and so could you. Because you may be s/he that is in desperate need of Changing. Start first with you, before you try to Change anyone else.

Yo, I don't know if Fabolous coined the term or just made it famous, but Dead is nyce. For those of you who have no idea what Dead means; it is a way of saying something is over or something is finished, shall be no more. It's one word that encompasses so much. I hate to be cliche' but Dead is the biz. I am not the fastest rabbit out here, so it took me a little while to figure out what Dead meant and the proper way to use it. Shout out to my NY Chica who put me up on game. Now, I don't expect you spongebob's out there to insert Dead into your vocab, nor do I encourage it. As a matter of fact, I'm asking you not to use it. The word can't be used too much, nor can it be used ineffectively. With a word, so powerful, it has to have immaculate timing.

I am so fascinated with the creativity of the hood and the young adults these days. When they want to be they are so talented, creative, but some of them lack direction and good decision making skills. It is my hopes that we will see more and more of our young men making history and changing the world---and not killing each other or checking out way before their time.

Good Job Fabo----Dead.

Why WOODWORKZ???

For those that don’t know. The reason this blog is entitled “WOODWORKZ” is because, my nickname as a young buck and back home is WOOD. And NO, it’s not what you all may be thinking… It’s even more juvenile than that… A KneeGrow called “Mike G” ( former wanna be D Boi and Pimp ) gave me that illustrious nickname because I had an old school Buick Regal, with a wood grain dashboard, Steering Wheel, Gear shift, and Dome Tweeters- yeah that ‘s right, Wood Grain Dome tweeters. And I would be remiss If I forgot to mention that it was painted CANDY PINK! Yes, it’s truly some REAL Southern Cult type ish, kinda like DUNK RIDERS in Miami! Anyway, that’s the source of the name of this blog. I posted it because I was getting a lot of Flak from classmates and associates about the name of the blog! Shout out to DJ!!! Who manages the day to day content on the blog, you’re brilliant my ninja! Or shall we call him, DR. FUQUA' PHD. Whenever he finishes his dissertation!

Oh Yeah, And here's a picture of the car now... Yes's I still own it and yes it still runs! Just close your eyes and imagine it's 10years ago, and every inch of this car is sparkling.... If you look all the way to the left, by the bumper, you can see how dark the paint was initially. It's not as hood as you would think... I'm in the process of locating some Pic's of it in all it's glory so stay TUNED...

Summer Is Here

I don't have to tell you all this, but just in case you didn't know, Summer Is Here. Mayne, it is hotter than the devil's testies outside. Ok, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but it is indeed hot. I, for some strange reason decided to walk around campus today in the sun. One, I learned that while I am in decent shape, I am not in great shape. Two, I learned that one thing man or woman has to respect is the sun. Summer Is Here and unfortunately for us, down here in the deep south, it will only get worse. As I say to all of you, please make sure you stay hydrated and inside as much as possible. Skin cancer has no friends and the sun don't care much for any of us. Summer Is Here, so move over and let her have her way. The quicker she comes, the quicker she will go away. Come on Ms. Winter, cause Ms. Summer is too unkind.

Sidetracked

0

Every now and then we can lose focus. We know we need to do this, but doing that seems so much easier at the time. We wake up daily with every intention of completing a tasks, but somehow we never get to it. What does any of the above mentioned mean? Well, learning how to avoid being Sidetracked, means your life will indeed be a lot more productive.

Once you are Sidetracked, it is so hard to get back on course. It is so much easier to stay on course when completing things, if you figure out how not to get Sidetracked. This is no simple task for a mere mortal, as things always seem to find their way into your life, when you have already made a schedule to do this or that today. It's not that one can't recover if you do get Sidetracked, but it is not necessarily a transition you have to incur if you can avoid being Sidetracked.

Here is how I avoid getting Sidetracked: I write out all that I need to get accomplished, when I plan to do it, and how. Once I have a this list, I then go through it completing one thing at a time. If there are some things, that pop up, I simply re-review my list, and decide the best place to input the new addition and keep it moving. It may not work for you, but it's a start. If you have a better way to avoid being Sidetracked, by all means, share it with us. We all could use the heads up.

If there is one thing that grinds my gears more than anything else, it is a hypocrite. Those people who don't understand that one must practice what they preach. These type of people slither through life making other people miserable, because in their mind, they have been justly appointed to point out all the things you are doing wrong, with no regard giving to the fact that they are doing the same exact things, if not worse. Today, I write this brief message to you hypocrites out there---Check Yourself. We don't need anyone to always pick out our negative aspects or constantly annoy us by pointing out our obvious weaknesses and/or deficiencies. Check Yourself. The Straw

0

Have you ever heard the expression regarding, "The Straw that broke the camels back?" What a mighty Straw that must've been. Now that I think of it more in detail, perhaps it may not have been a Straw at all. I know you must be thinking to yourself, "what thee heck is this all about or what is the significance of The Straw? I am glad you asked. In a number of adages there are references to Straws. Ever heard someone say, "That was the last Straw!" Is there a difference between that Straw and the one that broke the camel's back; maybe, maybe not. But what I do know for sure is The Straw is of significance.

Today, I write to encourage you all to be on the look out for The Straw. In other words, when you find yourself at wits end, or you know you have about all you can take---step away. If you know someone is already upset and you know they still deserve a couple more pieces of your mind---save it. Don't be The Straw and don't reach your Straw limit. Neither is a good thing, and none of us want to see you or that Straw of you are so upset you are breaking backs.

Drink responsibly--use a Straw, but don't be one.

Explore All Your Options

0

There are so many things out there in this world. There are so many foods to eat, places to visit, things to do, people to meet, etc. But oftentimes, we don't Explore All Our Options. Thus, we settle for less than we deserve. If you don't like the way something taste, don't eat it. If you don't like the way someone is treating you, leave them alone. If you don't like the way something feels, stop touching it. If you have never seen the many parts of the world, plan a vacation. This life is so short. You have to Explore All Your Options.

I am not a person who believes anyone should settle under any circumstances. You deserve the best that life has to offer. So, you should Explore All Your Options to make sure that which you are receiving or considering is the best of the best and not the best of the worst. Don't be so quick to choose. Take your time. Explore All Your Options. Once you make a choice, there is no reversing that. In all you do, from this day forth, don't be pressured, influenced, or bullied into making a rash/quick decision. Explore All Your Options. Whatever you do, no one has to deal with the outcome, but you. So, you might as well make sure you do what's best for you and yours. If you never Explore, you may never know if you even have---Options.

No Regrets

0

Lately, I hear people say this a lot, "If I knew then what I know now, I would've done things a lot differently." While I can understand what they mean, I don't necessarily agree with the statement. I know all of us have endured things in life or made life choices that weren't the best or most popular, but I believe the outcome of those were exactly what was suppose to happen. I believe everything in this life happens for a reason, and no matter what the scenario is, the end result was already pre-Destined and we just did what we did, because we were suppose to. Thus, I believe we should all live life with No Regrets.

No matter what you did, said or experienced in the past, at this point there is nothing you can do about it. You can cry about it, pout about it, sing about it, write about it and/or pray about it, but it still happened and there is nothing you can do about it. There is No reason for you to Regret it at this point. You can't do one measley thing that will change your past, no matter how hard you try. At this point you can only take control of your present, to make sure that your today sets the tone for your many tomorrows. Live your life with No Regrets. Yes, things happened, and yes, you or someone else may have gotten hurt. But wallowing in self pity or crying your eyes out won't help. We are all actors on a stage. This play was written before our time, and we are just the stars of it. You have too much to do during this short time on earth. Stop with all the looking backwards and focus on what's in front of you, before you miss you present day Blessings. No Regrets now, No Regrets forever. What can happen, will happen---Deal With It.

Finish It

0

Here is some food for thought: Don't start anything you have no plans on Finishing. It is very important to know if you start it, you must Finish It. There are too many things going on for people to just to begin things and never Finish them. I know people like this and it is kind of annoying. They may start a project, but they never Finish It. They may start a conversation/debate/argument, but they never Finish It. They may start cooking something or eating, but they never Finish It. They never have any intentions on Finishing anything, and they know it from the gate. It's like the thought of Finishing things just escapes them.

I highly encourage all of you to to spread your wings and attempt to do things you have never done before. Experience new places, people and cultures. But, in all you do, begin it with the notion that once I get started with it, I must Finish It. No matter how easy or tough it may be, just Finish It. There is something special about being able to Finish It, or reach the completion phase. It gives you confidence in your abilities and encouragement to keep trying new things. So, remember the next time you are about to embark on any thing, just know you have to, under any and all circumstances--- Finish It. Or it may just Finish you.

I Love Me Some Me

0

Greetings All:

I just wanted to drop a note to let you in on a secret: I Love Me Some Me. I am imperfectly created, unmistakably crafted, uniquely defined and could care less what you think about it. I Love Me Some Me. No matter what you say or do to me, the outcome will still be the same. I am still going to Love Me Some Me. Your thoughts, words, actions and negativity doesn't phase me the least. There isn't a thing in this world that people can do to make me feel or think bad about Me. I may have a lot of problems, but low Self-Esteem and Efficacy isn't any of them. I Love Me Some Me. I am just like the potter created me. Perhaps not in his own image just yet, but working towards becoming his twin. I am often told I am arrogant because I.D.G.A.F. (I DONT GIVE A FLIP) about your judgments, but I disagree. I am just confident in my abilities, thus, I Love Me Some Me and more times then not it shows. You should take a page from my book, and Love You Some Me Too..Oops, I meant Love You Some You. Nah, I think I said it right the first time.

Have a great weekend!

Love,

~Me

A PushOver

0

Ok, ok, okay, I get it. I'm too nice. But what do you expect from me? I guess because of my stature or my image, people think I am not suppose to be so easy going. I am what some would call, A PushOver. A PushOver is a person who usually doesn't take a hard stance with others or on issues. Now I will admit that while I am A PushOver, there are certain things the kid will not be PushedOver about---lying, unloyalty, harming children, disrespecting woman, and fussing or cursing at me, just to name a few. However, on most other things, I am A PushOver.

Is it bad that I am A PushOver? Well, if you ask some they would say, "yes." I do know that being A PushOver isn't the best way to be, but there are somethings that just aren't worth fighting for or fighting over. Thus, I refuse to battle it out over things I am not passionate about. This is a bit problematic, because other people tend to be passionate about things I'm really not interested in at all. So, that is where the issue arises. I tend to let those folks have their way. Not because I don't care about them, but I know life is about giving and getting. One must give to receive. I am perfectly fine with being A PushOver and haven't lost one iota of sleep over it. Just know, there is a vast difference between being A PushOver, and one who allows people to Run Over them. I ain't having that under any circumstance; hommie don't play dat'!!!

Free As A Bird

0

Have you ever heard the expression, "Free As A Bird?" I always wondered what was meant by it, until most recently. Life is very challenging to say the least. But in the context of life, we make a number of decisions that ultimately affect us personally and professionally. Some of these choices make a huge impact on us and may alter our life forever. The ideal of being Free As A Bird, is synonymous with being able to release oneself from burdens, oppressors, hate and other ill affects of this life.

I wasn't aware that being Free As A Bird was as simple as letting go. Once you learn to forgive and move on, or let go and let GOD; you too can be Free As A Bird. Once you make decisions not to let anything hold you down, back, and/or keep you from what you deserve, you my friend, are on your way to being Free As A Bird. I always considered myself to be Free until just recently. But, I know now what I need to do. Once it is done, I will be Free As A Bird. I hope you find your way to Freedom too. When you do, maybe we can---fly away together.

Lead By Example

0

There are a number of things I am adamant about in this world. But among all the rest, Leader & Leadership stand firmly on the top. I, unlike others, believe Leaders are born. I do believe that people can obtain certain Leadership qualities over time, but when it comes to being a Leader; I just think its in your D.N.A. Either one has it or they don't. I think a lot of people step in the position of Leader without understanding all the necessities and idiosyncrasies that come with the title of Leader. One of the most important attributes a Leader must understand is how to Lead By Example.

I have encountered individuals in this life who Lead by the mantra, "do as I say, not as I do." That's bull-malarky!!! People, especially, young people find themselves in the behaviors/mannerisms of others. For instance, if a young boy wants to be a rapper, he watches the behaviors/mannerisms of other rappers in the streets or on the television. In his young impressionable mind, whatever way those rappers act, he must take it to the next level to make it. Which usually doesn't end in a good fashion. The same is with a young girl who has a promiscuous older sister or mother. She doesn't know that men will say whatever it takes to get her on her back. All she knows is that her sister or mom dresses and acts a certain way, and as a result they are always in the company of men. She wants that attention, so she goes out of her way to do what she needs. Lets just say---potential tragedy.

Understanding that no matter what you do, someone is looking up to you is important. No matter how hard you try, you cannot avoid the responsibility of being a role model or Leader to the generations of today and tomorrow. While I know that it is up to the parents to raise their children, lets be honest, with the state of the economy, good parents are working twice as hard to make sure their children have the things they need just to survive. Thus, leaving the children no other option, but to seek other outlets to define and find themselves. Everyone is a Leader to someone. Is it fair, maybe not? But this is the way of the world. So, I write to encourage you all to be more cognizant of those around you, especially the little ones. If you don't Lead By Example, and I mean in a positive way, they may end up worse off then you, another statistic, and/or a life that meet its demise way too early.

Eye Contact

0

When people are speaking to you, whether you want to hear it or not, make Eye Contact with them. Look them in the Eye. I don't understand why people think it's okay to be in a conversation with someone and never make Eye Contact with them. It's such a bad habit for adults and children alike. This isn't the days of slavery where one couldn't look masta' in his Eyes. You are a whole person, thus you should act like it. Make Eye Contact with people when you are talking to them. Have some confidence in your words, if you don't, no one else will.

People who don't make Eye Contact with me, make me feel uncomfortable. I feel like either they are extremely shy, deceptive, nervous or they are lying. No man is greater than the other. No one should make you feel like you can't make Eye Contact with them. If they do, that person needs to become history, today. Eye Contact is the measure of a man and woman. If you lack the confidence to look people in their Eye, then stick to another form of communication like e-mail or text, because you aren't representing yourself in the highest light when you fail to make Eye Contact with others. The Eyes are the window to the soul, you can learn a lot about a person, by looking the in the Eyes. Just saying...

Over and Over Again

0

I was watching the tube the other day and there was a commercial about this guy who was working in the convenience store. The message basically was aimed at demonstrating how much repetitiveness sucks. In lames terms, the goal of of the entire commercial focused on how one should hate doing the same thing Over and Over Again. It took me a few times to watch it before it hit me. While the commercial is pretty lame, the message is very important. Some of us get stuck in these cycles are places of comfort. We get infatuated so much so, that we always do the same thing(s) Over and Over Again. Thus, we never try anything new---ever.

It is very important that all of us attempt to do different things and sample products, places and/or things that we never have before. Even though it is always nice to have a level of comfort or likability with stuff such as your favorite restaurant, church, nightclub, group of friends, etc, you must remember the saying, "variety is the spice of life." Driving the same way to work Over and Over again; going to the same stores in the mall Over and Over Again; and/or dating the same type of people Over and Over Again, just may be your thing. But, if you never expand your horizons and explore/sample/try/experience other things, then you truly don't know what it is you really like. You just know, based on what you have done thus far, what you think you like best. It's okay to stick to those things/people that make you feel good and/or safe, but sometimes you have to step outside the realm of what you always do and do somethings you have never done before.Doing the same Over and Over Again, will only lead to you getting the same result---Over and Over Again. Dare to be different, just once.

The Market

0

In my spare time I surf the web speaking to various people about different things. Sometimes, I talk to people about the youth of today, my all time favorite topic, music, or at other times I talk to people about The Market. No, I am not talking about the SuperMarket. The Market I am referring to is a Market of single individuals or people who in their mind, think they are single. This Market of people, for some reason, has ever great attribute in the world, but they for some strange reason are still on The Market. These people can't seem to find Mr. or Mrs. Right for anything in the world.

Speaking with individuals about their path to The Market or the reason they are still or back on The Market is amazing. I have learned so much about life, relationships, and this thing called love. What I can share with you all is this, "I believe some people are on The Market simply because they choose to be." I am always baffled to hear the stories of people who just can seem to get off The Market. More specifically, women. As they tell their tales of how they ended up on The Market, I am never surprised. One theme is prevalent in most of these stories---Men, more exclusively Black Men are evil and are the worst species known to man. I will elaborate on this a little further at another time. But for now, lets just say, "The Market is a rest stop for people until they prepare for their next relationship, if there is ever another one in their future.

There isn't anything wrong with being on The Market, if you deserve to be there, or if you are their with the intentions of getting off. But, just saying you are on The Market, when you really aren't, is waste of time and space. I truly believe there is someone from everyone. But I believe even more that some people don't want anyone, just so they can rape our ears continuously with these sad and depressing folk tales of why they can't find someone or happyness. To those type of Market people, here is a secret; we don't care. Just find someone and stop messing up everyone who is happy around you, because you lonely. Get off The Market, before you ruin all the potential suitors for those who really are shopping for that special someone.

Taking Risks Equals Rewards....

0

If you want to do something extra-special or extra-ordinary, you have to Take Risks. According to Wikipedia, Risks is defined as: the potential that a chosen action or activity (including the choice of inaction) will lead to a loss (an undesirable outcome). Potential losses themselves are called "Risks". Almost any human endeavor carries some Risk, but some are much more Risky than others. But Taking Risks Equals Rewards---sometimes.

Let me elaborate. If one fails to Take Risks, then one will never know if there are any potential Rewards as a result of Taking those Risks. When most people think of Risks, some of the things that come to mind are stocks, bonds and investing in general. An individual who decides to invest must put their money into a market or other people's hands with hopes that the Risks they take will ultimately make them more money. I haven't gotten into investing on a major level, but I do have a few investments, but nothing major. I guess I need to Take a few more Risks as well.

There are a number of things that includes Risks. Some of us live in very dangerous neighborhoods, work very dangerous jobs, and associate with very dangerous people. Each of us take Risks every day when we step outside, jump in our vehicles, and travel to various destinations via plane, train, or any other other form of transportation. But there a some people who like to live life on the "wild side." They take more serious Risks, like climbing large mountains, skydiving, speed racing, etc. Now I don't advise you to take any of these type of Risks, but know Taking some Risks do Equal some Rewards. You can't play it safe all the time. If you never Take Risks, then you will never unlock your true potential.

It'll Work Out...

0

I think most of you have heard me say on a number of occasions, It'll Work Out in the end. I am truly a person who really believe all things eventually Work Themselves Out. Call me naive or slow, but it is my belief that people who have real FAITH understand that It'll Work Out. While it may be complicated and it may seem like you are out of options, know that It'll Work Out.

I am a positivist in every since of the word. I try to find the positive in every scenario and/or situation. Those things that seem so bad that there is no way out, just know, It'll Work Out. We are all going to experience things and we must continue to live even when times are extremely rough. But It'll Work Out. I don't just say this, I believe it to be true. So, no matter what obstacle or tribulation you may be facing on today, listen to me when I say to you, It'll Work Out. I mean, It Really Will.

Motivation II

0

Motivation is a key essential. When one lacks Motivation, one lacks the need to accomplish things. Motivation can drive you, encourage you, push you, and/or inspire you to do extraordinarily unusual things. People who lack Motivation, tend to sit around and watch their life pass right before their eyes. I hope you aren't one of those people?

There are a number of great opportunities out there in the world. Do you lack the Motivation to pursue your dreams, goals and aspirations? If so, that's ok, for now. At least you aren't in denial like that river over in Egypt. As long as you know you lack Motivation, that means there is a chance you can still find it. Motivation can be found in a number of interesting places. Some people find Motivation from other people, children, family members, colleagues and/or friends. I tend to gain my Motivation from negative people, naysayers, haterz and the like. Motivation is not hard to find, but it is something that you must work to keep up. Because once you lose it, it is indeed hard to restore.

This I do know: If you stay positive, stay encouraged, and stay Motivated; good things are bound to happen.

A Mother Is...

0

A Mother is so much more than words can express. Whether you call her Mom, Momma, Grandma, Madea or by her name, A Mother is GOD'S gift to mankind. A Mother is one who nurtures, supports, loves, and provides for others when no one else sees fit. A Mother is the foundation of life, for when GOD created Adam he chose Eve, A Mother, to be his help-mate and to be the one who is responsible for Mothering the earth. A Mother is more than just a title, for there are a number of women who have children, but A Mother is one who rears children and never gives up on them no matter what. A Mother is the reason you and I are here.

No matter what type of relationship you have with your Mother, if she is still here today, let us all join in the celebration of her and others like her. Good, bad or indifferent, A Mother still made the choice to bring us in this world. Whether they kept us, gave us away, loved us, mistreated us, or just plain disappointed us, she is still A Mother and we must be reminded that she did the best she could with the hand she was dealt. Continue to love her, pray for her, support her, and no matter what, never give up on her, cause she never gave up on you.

A Mother is who some of you are or one day will be, to a child or to the world. How we thank you for the many sacrifices you make daily for not only your child/ren, but to all those other children you have taken in along the way. Today, we celebrate you. Stand up and take a bow; we have a special ovation for you. We love you, thank you and appreciate you for everything. Enjoy your day, although we should be celebrating you 365, not just today.

The Middle

0

There are a few things in this life that I don't like. You all already know a few of them: rappers, ignorant people, rappers, drama, rappers, complainers, rappers, the lakers, rappers, being called cute, did I say rappers....ok let me stop there cause that is already more than a few and the list was just getting started. But, there is something that I don't like that may seem odd to most of you. I can't stand The Middle.

I don't like The Middle finger. I don't like being in The Middle of an argument. I don't like sitting in The Middle seat on a plane. I don't like The Middle table of restaurants. I especially, don't like being stuck in The Middle of where I have been and where I am going. This Middle to me is the most annoying because it means for some reason I am not moving. Now, just like many of you, patience is not my strong point. So I am constantly working on it. Until then, I can say being in The Middle requires waiting, and I hate waiting. One thing I know is if I have to wait on anything I would prefer not to have it, no matter what it is.

The Middle is probably a sweet spot for some of you. I am sure you don't mind being in The Middle, but not me. You can have it. The Middle to me makes me feel claustrophobic or trapped. I feel like I am not being progressive in The Middle. So, if you see me and I am struggling, perhaps its because I have found myself stuck/trapped in The Middle. Help a brother out. Throw me a life raft, come save the kid, do something, just get me out The Middle before I spas out. Middle Men Suck!!!

The Forest Through The Trees

0

There is an old adage that talks about seeing The Forest Through The Trees. I think now more than ever before, I understand what this means. Sometimes in this life we can get caught up in those small, minute, unimportant and/or non life changing things. Those things that are so insignificant to who we are and have no major impact on our future, We focus so much on things of this nature that we don't see the big picture. All we see are those Trees, but we don't see the Forest made up by each one of those Trees. Every Tree has a story, but the Forest is a true collection of all our stories, folk tales, dreams, goals and aspiration.

There are a number of times where we accept the little things that are tossed our way or find there way in our lane. But we can't get thrown off by those Trees. We have to look beyond the smoke and mirrors, those Trees, and seek out the Forest. These days we all need to re-double our efforts to stay focused. There is so much going on in this world. Everywhere we turn there is something that is going on in our neighborhoods, our lives and in our personal circles. But we cannot let those Trees distract or derail us. We have to set our sights on locating the entire Forest. Somewhere in the Forest lies our various Trees that contribute to the actual Forest. We have to seek out our Forest to find each Tree that defines who we are. Our Destiny lies in the Forest, not just with one Tree. Don't let just one Tree or branch define who you are. You have a whole Forest to journey through. What are you waiting on? I promise you, you won't regret the trip.

Trust

0

There are few things that go a long way. Airplanes, bodies of water and Trust. Trust is very important in every relationship/association you have in this life. If you don't have Trust between you and your spouse, lover, family, friends and/or co-workers, then you don't have anything. Trust is a major part of one's functionality. If you cannot Trust those around you, then you need to surround yourself with others who you can Trust.

My ideal on Trust is this: I give everyone, no matter who you are, a generic level of Trust. Until you give me a reason to disTrust you, you have all the Trust you need from me. Now, the level of Trust you have with me can go up or down. But know this, once its gone, it's gone. I don't go in reverse. If you destroy the level of Trust I give you that you didn't have to earn, there is no way I can allow you a chance to disappoint me twice. That doesn't mean we can't be kosher, but just know I won't Trust you as far as I can throw you.

No matter how you deal with Trust, know that it can be given but its probably at its best when it is earned. Be careful with your Trust. Treat it like your heart and your love. Don't be reckless. You just can't Trust everyone. And if you are one of those people who do, be prepared for a crash landing. Because someone, somewhere is going to ruin your day(s) or perhaps your life. Trust is sacred, give a little at a time, not all at once. You will see the benefits of taking your time to Trust---Trust me.

Stay The Course

No matter what you do in this life, there are going to be a number of things that may get in your way. Some things are obstacles and some things are detours, but it is of the upmost importance that you Stay The Course. Don't let anything or anyone through you off track. Stay The Course. Don't let situations or occurrences prevent you from completing your daily tasks/assignments. Stay The Course. Don't let your past or your present stop you from receiving the Blessings that are slated for you. Stay The Course. No matter what happens, Stay The Course. Your Enemies, Naysayers, Haters & even your Friends sometimes will derail you. You can't, under any circumstances, let that happen. Stay The Course. Only you know where you began and where you want to end. Thus, it is imperative for you to---Stay The Course.

Losers Who Win

0

I have to admit that I have just had an epiphany. As some of the great motivation speakers call it, an "ah ha moment." At times, life seems to be a huge competition, with experiences filled with Winning and Losing. But sometimes Losers are actually those Who Win. Most recently, I was adamant about a certain life choice and the things I need to do in my immediate future. But, other people didn't think I was a good fit; so I actually got semi-disappointed because I felt like I Lost. But, in essence, by suffering said defeat or a Lost, I may actually be a Winner on the other end. While the current scenario may not be fit for me, perhaps today's Lost may be setting me up for tomorrow's Win.

No one likes to Lose. But, if you never Lose then you don't understand the complexities of garnering a Win. I tend to Lose on a few occasions, but I tend to Win sometimes. So, it's a unique balancing act. I write to encourage you all to not be afraid to Lose. A Loser today may actually be a Winner by tomorrow. Don't let the fear of a Lost discourage you not to seek a Win. At the end of the road somewhere there is a Victory/Win with your name all over it.

A Server At Heart

0

During my varied experiences in this life, I have come to realize a number of things. Most recently, I have learned that while I am called to Lead in a number of occasions, I am truly A Server At Heart. My philosophy is simple: Before you can Lead you must first learn to Serve. If you don't take time to Serve, then you won't understand the true role of a leader. There are those of use who enjoy Leadership and the call to Serve. I just happen to be one of the selective few who enjoy the Serving part way more than the Leading. It's not that I don't enjoy being a Leader, but on occasion, the Leader capacity causes us to get caught up on the business/politics of maintaining that position, thus, we forget our constituents or those we originally aimed to Serve.

I am not perfect in any way, but through the years I have come to understand the complexities of Leadership and I most certainly understand the call to Service. I don't expect others to be influenced to change their ways, but I do believe all Leaders should evaluate themselves by those they Serve. If you are being exalted and/or promoted in your Leader role. Make sure those you Serve are those doing the exalting and are content with your promotion because through your the Service you render to them, they feel it is most deserving. Sometimes, we move up and leave those we "think" we are Serving behind. True Leaders understand that to be successful, they must be A Server At Heart. Personally, I am just laborer, nothing more, nothing less. These days, I Lead only when I get to Serve because A Server Is Who I Really Am At Heart.

Renovating You

0

Oftentimes in this life, we exert so much energy helping others, that we barely have time to help ourselves. While serving others to me is the cornerstone of life, we all must be reminded that we have to keep ourself serviced as well. Self reflection keeps us all humbled in the services we render for others. It is so much easier to look at other people and pick out their inconsistencies, flaws and/or faults. But we must be vigilant with observing and recognizing our own issues and imperfections as well. Once you can be honest with self and can identify what you must improve upon or change, you may then begin Renovating You.

Renovating You may be a difficult process. Especially if you are unable to be honest with yourself regarding how imperfect you really are. However, I write to tell you that the Renovation process can be one filled with much enjoyment and excitement. Now, I am not encouraging you to self evaluate and Renovate for anyone else. I am asking you to do the afore for you. The only thing constant in this life is change; which means if you aren't constantly/currently Renovating You, then you are on "pause" and the world around you is passing you by. You may look at self and realize that your foundation, walls and ceiling is fine, and that may be true. But, a little self Renovation never hurt anyone. Renovating You, allows you to not only re-define who you are, but also set a standard for how others should interact with you, treat you, appreciate you and most importantly love you.

Renovating You can be tough, but it is well worth it. If you are unsure you have the craftsmanship to do your own Renovations or the ability to identify those things that may need to be Renovated, just grab a pen and jot done where you were yesterday, where you are today, and where you plan to be by tomorrow. In that written plan, you will be able to see where the Renovating You process should begin. Because if you are still dealing with issues of your past, your Renovation needs to begin immediately. The past is just that ---The Past. Leave it there and Renovate Your way to Your Future. You have all the tools you need right in front or around you. Find them and use them. Tear down those walls---Today!!!
