I Am What I Say I Am

0

Your thoughts don't make me, your words won't break me, for I Am What I Say I Am

Your plots against me only motivate me, your ill wishes only activate me, for I Am What I Say I Am

No matter how much you dislike me, no matter how bad you want to fight me, I Am What I Say I Am

No matter what you do to my house, no matter what comes out your mouth, I Am What I Say I Am

You can try to delete me, you can try to defeat me, but I Am What I Say I Am

You can try to drop me, you can try to stop be, but I Am What I Say I Am

Under no circumstances will I allow you to tell me anything different than what I know, Sir/Ma'am

Because I was made in his image and I Am Exactly Matter-of-Factly, Who I Say I Am.

You Can Recover From The Truth, But Not A Lie

0

So I look at it like this: once a Liar, always a Liar. Perhaps that is a bad way to view people because as some would say, "everyone Lies." While that might be true, for example. we attempt every year to persuade our kids that Santa is not bringing them gifts if they misbehave. But even then, a Lie is still a Lie. I know people don't like to hear the Truth all the time, but whether you choose to accept it or not, the Truth is still the Truth. And no I am not talking about our own personal Truths, I mean the actual Truth. But, a Lie is bottom of the barrel. The way I see it, You Can Recover From The Truth, But Not A Lie.

Let me elaborate. Some people ask you questions, when they already know the answer or they don't want to hear the real answer. Either way, I believe you should tell the Truth. While it may be difficult and very uncomfortable, they need to hear the Truth from someone. So many people Lie to others to make them feel better or make them feel important, but not I. I believe the GOOD BOOK when it says, "The Truth Will Set You Free." It may set you free from someone you care about or free from the bondage of Lies, but it will eventually set you free. Thus, I encourage all of you, never to Lie under any circumstance that isn't a matter of life or death. Be smart, sometimes a Lie can save your life or the life of others; you will be forgiven for that one. But for no other reason should you Lie. Lies are like mazes. Once you get into one it is hard to find you way out. Thus, you keep Lying and Lying over again. You may not believe me now, but trust me when I speak from personal and professional experience, You Can Recover From The Truth, But Not A Lie. People may forgive you, but they will never forget you're a Liar.

If You Ain't Part Of The Solution; You're The Problem

0

So someone just got onto me about my harsh/scathing criticisms of B.E.T. Although, I didn't agree with everything they stated, there was one thing that resonated with me. It was reminiscent of something I wrote about in a previous post. The idea that everyone is a critic. While that may be true, I believe some of us have to critique things that may negatively or positively impact us. Yes, I may have been a little hard with my view of the show, but in essence that was exactly how I felt/feel. But thanks to my family, I have realized that people sit around all day and talk bad about this and that. How he did this and she did that, but no one is taken the initiative to try to change anything. Everyone knows what the Problem is, but no one knows the Solution.

From henceforth, I am going to stop talking about things that need to be changed and just start working toward changing them. You are welcome to join me in my pursuit to stop the ill affects ninjas are having on blacks, black men more exclusively. While you may be contemplating that, remember this , If You Ain't Part Of The Solution; You're The Problem. So those of you who are hesitant to call others out regarding the self absorbed/ignorant things they are doing, probably have a few bones in your closet that you don't want to be exposed. Me, I can respect that. But everything I do, I know I will have to answer for. And if I know I have to one day face HE who is with out sin, I am in know way afraid of others.

Today, I write to encourage you all: boys, girls, men, women, sinners and saints, to stop complaining, fussing, and bickering about all the Problems. Start practicing a more Solution oriented focus. Once you identify the Problem, work to find alternatives ways to fix it. You have to make sure that you aren't Part Of The Problem though. There is nothing more sickening then a hypocrite. So you must practice all you preach. As stated before, If You Ain't Part of the Solution; You're The Problem. So make sure to fix yourself and your situations before you try to be the personal mechanic for others and their lives.

The 2011 BET Awards Show

1

I didn't want to write on this topic at all.
As a matter of fact, I am only writing a review of the 2011 Bet Awards Show by special request.
Well here we go.....

The 2011 BET Awards Show was.... well, gimmie me a moment; horrifically terrible. Ok, perhaps I am understating that a bit. The 2011 BET Awards Show my disastrously horrifically terrible. Yep, that captures it! I don't even know where to begin. The entire show was as entertaining as watching an ant run a marathon across county. Who wants to watch that?! That's exactly how I felt about the show. It was one of the worst shows I have ever seen. The show was action packed with coonary, underwear, Chris Brown, millionaire thugs, did I say Chris Brown? Don't get it twisted, I am proud of my culture and hip hop, and I am elated that Breezy made his way back to the top, but the show was simply too much. The show made me ashamed to be a black male, a fan of hip hop and a viewer of that catastrophe they called a an awards show. I have no idea who sits around in a room and says,"this is the show we want." It was awful. Sadly enough, you wouldn't ever see anything close to this circus over on MTV and trust me, they air anything. I am saddened.

I am not a hater, but I really was disgusted by The 2011 BET Awards Show last night. I don't understand why we sit back and accept the way these fools are misrepresenting our culture and our music. Nothing is cool about the way these idiots are portraying us to the world at-large. Maybe you don't care, because you act like that or dress that way. But I don't! It's hard enough being black and educated, now I have to deal with the images and false perceptions/stereotypes you have put out that I have to defy. I am so perplexed, because over time, BET has gotten progressively worse and no one is doing anything about it. We are a very inventive people, but now we just simply do what our competitors are doing. But MTV isn't a true competitor for BET. MTV, while they show caucasians doing the craziest things, try to keep some sort of balance with their shows. They know their audience, so they hone in on attempting to please that 12-16 year old population. Who is BET programming for? Just watching the show made me want to drop out of college, go to prison, get paroled and sign with Young Money Cash Money. That's the life. Who needs the HOLY TRINITY when you got Slim, Baby and Wayne?!!!

I could go on forever, but I won't. Needless to say, at times I wanted to scratch my eyes out. I love music, I love my people, and I love and appreciate the unique talents we have, but for the entire three hours last night, I found myself wishing I was of another race. I kept saying to myself (in my uncle ruckus voice,) "Look at those NiG*AS!" And yes, I do mean NIG*AS!!! Guys, thank you again for reminding me to pull up my pants, stay sober & try a life of hard crime if college doesn't pan out.

Just Different

0

I am a Different type dude. My tag line is usually, "Hated by many, Loved by few, but Misunderstood by everyone. Truly that is the sum total of my days on this earth, living this thing we call life. I tend to believe that a lot of people don't hate me, rather they just hate on me. Mostly because I am Just Different. I don't dress like others, walk like others, talk like others, and more so, I don't have this need to be accepted like other people. I'm Just Different, therefore I ALWAYS tend to do my own thing. "I'm so left, it feels so right!"

I believe a few people love me. Those few try to accept the fact I am Just Different and try to embrace my Differences. They don't really enjoy all my Differences I am sure, but because they have love for me, they just kind of role with the punches. I mean with me, you never know what you are going to get or what is going to come out of my mouth. But those who love me, already know that in advance; so if it does bother them, they have a great way of not showing it.

The one downfall about being Different is because people can't explain or put a name one it, they tend to make something up negative for it. Hence why I say that I am misunderstood by everyone. Even though some hate me and others love me, I am not so sure anyone understands me. Simply put, "I am truly, genuinely and matter of factually---Just Different." And I don't even try to be this way. I don't do things for attention, to be heard, to be seen or because I want to be recognized. The things I do are a culmination of my life experiences and years of being Just Different. I don't know if any of you out there understand, but I am perfectly fine with being misunderstood. Because to be honest, the less you really know about me, the less vulnerable I am to your actions, words, suggestions, lies, judgments and/or opinions. I am fine being Just Different. If you are the same way, learn to love, enjoy, and be elated by they fact that you are a prototype, made---Just Different from all the rest.

Yours Forever,

~J.D.

Embrace It, You're Getting Older

0

The coming of age seems tragic for some people. They see one piece of grey in their hair and for some reason they began to dye their whole head just to get rid of it. Or they look in the mirror and see one forehead wrinkle, so now its time to spend hundreds of dollars on creams or make-up to try to hid, that one wrinkle. People get over it! Embrace It, You're Getting Older.

I don't know why everyone is so anxious to stay young forever. Aging is the great part of life. If everyone was young then the world would be even more chaotic then it already is. Just because You're Getting Older doesn't mean you have to force yourself into those jeans you could wear in high school or into your old letterman jacket from 12 grade. Being able to wear those items, don't make you look younger. They actually make you look stupid. Contrary to popular opinion, clothes, music, and/or slang doesn't make you look younger. Just Embrace It, You're Getting Older.

I have always been a fan of the school of thought that one gets better with age. I really believe that. You become more wise through the many lessons, trials and tribulations you go through in this life. None of which make you old; they just make you more experienced You must learn to age with grace, not ignorance. I can't stand to see a guy in his 40's sagging or a woman in her 40's in a pair of daisy dukes. Ma'am/Sir, you look like a h.a.m. (hot a$$ mess.) They make those clothes in every size, but you have to know that you have outgrown that fad. I write to all of you non- spring chickens out there to say, "If you are are Getting Older, Just Embrace It." That just means you are moving closer and closer to your destiny and that great "REWARD IN THE SKY".

A Good Time

0

Do you know what it feels like to have A Good Time? I bet its been so long for some of you, you probably have forgotten what if feels like to have A Good Time. Drizzy Drake said it most eloquently, "I live for the moments I won't remember, with the people that I cant forget..." Now that is what I call A Good Time. I ask you today, when was the last time you genuinely had A Good Time? Can you remember the last time you smiled 'til it hurt or laughed 'til you cried? I think it's imperative with all that is going on in this life to have A Good Time every now and then.

Things are so tough and life is so stressful these days with the unemployment rate so high & money so low, that people find it difficult to have A Good Time. But, I am here to tell you, "A Good Time is like fun, it doesn't have to cost a thing." The recipe for A Good Time may be different for each and everyone of us. But the main ingredients should be the same: fun, laughter and happiness. You can add in whatever else you need to find your Good Time, but its a necessity that you have one. This life is too short and there is so much going on that you can't change. However, you can change your personal disposition or circumstances by simply finding a way to have what I call--- A GOOD TIME.

With A Grain Of Salt

0

Some people hold on to everything. One more thing and they are sure to pop. I don't get it. They already have high blood pressure and stress levels through the roof, but they don't know how to let go. I was reared around people like that. Folks who worry about every little thing. They worry themselves right out of their favorite recliner and into the grave. Not the kid! I don't let anything get that close to me. No matter what people say, think, write or do to me, I take it all With A Grain Of Salt.

One could give their last meal, ounce of blood or every possession they have away, and someone would still have something negative to say about it. I have learned that no matter how hard you work or how many sacrifices you make; you can't please everybody. All you can do is the best you can with the cards you were dealt. If everyone or no one is happy with your results, that's ok. Let them talk or judge you. Learn to take their negative comments, feedback and misperceptions With A Grain Of Salt. I know who I am inside and out. There is nothing you can do to change how I feel or what I think about myself. So try the next person. Because you are wasting your time trying to bring me down. I love you, I acknowledge and pray for you daily. But I most certainly take everything you say or do With A Grain Of Salt. Y'all Ain't Gon' Kill Me!

Passion

0

One thing that can't be taught, bought, sold or created is Passion. I don't care how much money you have or influence you have, you cannot make someone have Passion about things. Passion is one of those things like Drive, either you are or you don't. I have a lot of Passion when it comes to certain things and I am absolutely Passionate about other things. But, while I can express my Passion, I have come to realize that my works, while many, will not inspire others to have the same level of Passion as I do regarding those things I am Passionate about.

What I have come to realize is that in order for you to truly find your career versus that job you have, you must seek out that which you are Passionate about. When you have Passion regarding the things you do or are involved in, you are most likely to be happier and more successful. I use to get so disappointed & upset with others who did not share the same level of Passion regarding things I was Passionate about. But now I have learned that they are Passionate, just about other things. I had to work really hard and frustrate myself to no end before I understood that.

People with Passion are like individuals with a positive attitude; they can do much with very little and will somehow find themselves on the path to greatness without even trying. Today, I ask you to think about those things you are Passionate about. Are you utilizing your Passion or are you doing things that have nothing to do with what you really love? If so, perhaps you might want to revisit your current circumstance and let your Passion steer you in the right direction. Just a thought.

Just Average

0

What does it mean when people say they are Just Average? Is it that they are better then worse and the worst of the best? Or is it that they just think they are middle of the road? I truly don't understand what it means when people say they are Just Average. I guess the obvious question to me is: Average to whom or what? How is it that you are Just Average? If I had to hypothesize, which I do often, instead of assuming, I would say they compare themselves to others around them or people they see on tv or aspire to be like. But to me its an unfair comparison. How do you know that those persons aren't Just Average too? Perhaps, they think the same thing about themselves as you think about you. It's a bit of a quagmire if you ask me. You are comparing yourself to people you really don't know and basing your self evaluation off other persons who may not be Average at all. I can't change they way you view things and other people, but I will speak to how you view yourself. You my friend, are not Just Average. As a matter of fact, if Just Average is what you are, then those around you, including me, have a looooonnnngggg wwwwaaayyyyy tooooo gooooo.

No Matter What, People Will Talk

0

The most discouraging thing to me is to see people who lack identity. I am referring to those persons who do everything that someone else does or the group does, because they want to fit in. What boggles my mind is that they don't understand that No Matter What, People Will Talk. No Matter what you say or do, People Will Talk.

Some will say positive things, some people will say negative things, but No Matter What, People Will Talk. You work so hard, and try to be so perfect, but No Matter What, People Will Talk. Some will Talk in your face, some will Talk behind your back. So why waste your time trying to be something your not. If you don't know who you are, spend a few moments to find yourself. Be you, love you, and get to know you. No Matter What, People Will Talk, so enjoy being yourself. You don't need to deal with any additional pressure. All I ask is that you be all you be, nothing more or nothing less.

Juneteenth---Know Your History

0

This weekend throughout the South, African Americans will gather at festivals, picnics and other events to observe Juneteenth, a celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The term "Juneteenth" comes from the date June 19, 1865, when enslaved Africans in Galveston, Texas, found out that they were free a full yearsafter the Emancipation Proclamation became official.

For 30 long months, the enslaved Texans continued to toil, unaware that technically they were free to stop and pursue their destinies. Their official status as free Americans meant nothing until Juneteenth came around.

A Day Of Happiness For Fathers

0

Anyone, and I do mean anyone, male of course, can be a baby daddy. But it takes a Real Man to be a Father. Unfortunately, in society today, we have way more baby daddies than we do Fathers. Women are being asked, shall I say forced, to take on the herculean task of raising their children all by themselves. Not that they don't do a great job of it, but they didn't conceive them alone, thus they shouldn't be force to raise them alone. I write today to encourage all you baby daddies out their to join those over on the Father side. There is plenty of room in this world for Fathers. And let me tell you from experience, D.N.A. alone doesn't make you a Father. It takes a heck of a lot more than that.

On this Day Of Happiness For Fathers, I want to celebrate, acknowledge and praise all those Fathers out there who are doing an outstanding job rearing not only your children, but others as well. You don't have to do what you do Fathers, but we are most grateful you chose to. If we don't truly honor you with our gifts, love and praises, please know that we not only acknowledge you on this Day Of Happiness For Fathers, but we try to make you proud in everything we do. A child without a Father is a child without completion. I am not suggesting that mom, grandma or someone else won't give that child all they need, but the presence of a Father and a Mother makes a child complete. So on this Day of Happiness For Fathers, I salute all you Super Gentleman out there who give more than enough, just enough or as much as you can to your children. If we don't always say it, "it is most appreciated."

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL!

Inconsistent People

0

If you are one of the aforementioned people----please take offense. There are different types of people in this world. Some are smart, funny, loyal, and/or dependable. But, some other people just don't have a quality that matters in their poor little souls. I think there are various qualities that all people must have. I am sure you may not agree, so feel free to disagree. In my mind, an individual must be honest, responsible and be a person of strong moral character and fiber, just to name a few. But to accompany that, they must also be Consistent. One of the worse types of people in the world besides the obvious: murders, thieves and criminals, are Inconsistent People.

Inconsistent People make me want to strongly encourage them to play in traffic. I am most annoyed by these type of people. Inconsistent People can never be counted on at all. They are like always and unpleasant surprise; you never know what you are going to get, but you can guarantee you won't like it. Its like each of them have a touch of amnesia or something. Because they never remember what they said they would do, how they did it last time, and why they didn't do what was asked of them. Repetition and doing what you said you would do is not that difficult people. But to Inconsistent People it's the challenge of a life-time. I will never understand Inconsistent People. If you said you were going to do something like this or that; do it! If you said you would be the person responsible for this or that; be that person! Why is it that you feel you can do whatever you feel like doing? Don't you know that negatively affects others? Perhaps you just don't care.

I am officially removing all Inconsistent People out of my life starting today. If you always called, but now you up and stopped; number deleted. If you use to write, but you don't send letters, text or e-mails more; lose my address and contacts. If you are here today for me, but not there tomorrow; you don't have to worry about me, cause we are no longer cool. Go disappoint someone else. You will not set me up for failure or heart ache buddy. I am done with Inconsistent People and you should be done to. Life is too short to continue to be let down by dishonest & half-a$$ friends or lovers. You were fine before you met them and whether you believe it or not, you will be much better without them. Inconsistent People, you have officially been put on notice; don't say we didn't warn you. Find some Consistency about yourself or KICK ROCKS/LEAVE US ALL ALONE!!!

Onomatopoeia

0

I am going to take time today to share something with you all. The coolest thing about life is that no matter what you do, there are always opportunities to learn new things. I was just speaking with a group kids the other day and they reminded me about something I learned in grade school; Words R.O.C.K.!!!!! Especially those like "Zip", "Bam" and/or "Boom" known as Onomatopoeia.

Onomatopoeia is a type of word that intimates the sounds it represents. These are the coolest words ever! Mostly found in comic books and things of that nature, Onomatopoeias are often used but most people don't know that certain words, mean certain things. Personally, I enjoy words and the more I learn to use them in creative ways, the more fun I have with them. So I encourage all of you to read, write, and learn until it hurts; "pow!!!" Take that.

Listen More ,Talk Less

2

Now, I am in no way, shape, form or fashion perfect. I have flaws just like the next person. Among all the things I need to work on, there is something that I have really put at the top of my list: Listen More, Talk Less.

I am not much of a talk just to be talking type of person, but I do have more than a few words to say, every now and again. One, I am a motivational speaker, thus, my career hinges on my ability to communicate orally. However, just because I feel the need to say something, doesn't mean that it needs to be said. So, I am working on my ability to Listen More, Talk Less.

One would be surprised at how much more you will learn just by Listening. It's absolutely fascinating when you realize how many things have missed when were Talking instead of Listening. Thus, I have decided for myself to Listen More, Talk Less. Not that I won't say things I feel need to be said. But, some of those things don't necessarily have to be said all the time. So I ask each of you to join me in my pursuit to Listen More, Talk Less. We can do this together and develop a team of Professional Listeners along the way. I'm down, if you are.

You've Got To Believe

0

In case no one told you, You've Got To Believe. You've Got To Believe what you say is the truth. You've Got To Believe that your actions will render the results you seek. You've Got to Believe it to achieve it. You've Got To Believe that where you are now, isn't the place you are going to be for the rest of your life. You've Got To Believe in someone besides yourself. You've Got To Believe that if HE said it, it will be done.

Some people don't Believe in anything they can't see. While I understand the notion that seeing is Believing; some of the most beautiful things in this life will never be in the presence of the human eye. But, we Believe they are there. Whether we were taught it or our parents inserted these things in our mind, we Believe a number of things to be present although we will never see them. It is necessary too. You've Got To Believe, because if you didn't you would lock yourself up in a small room and never leave. You've Got To Believe in things like, the world was created somehow, humans evolved from something or were created by someone, and/or there is enough air out there to support the billions of people around the world breathing it.

You've Got To Believe in change, if not you would be the same person today as you were yesterday and years before. You've Got To Believe in Love, if not you will miss out on one of the greatest free gifts of all. You've Go To Believe in someone, if you will spend your whole life alone. You've Got To Believe in second chances, because no one is perfect an gets it right on the first try, not even you. All of us have to Believe in something, if nothing more than ourselves. Last but definitely not least, You've Got To Believe in yourself. If you don't, no one else will.

Weird

0

It okay to be Weird. I mean, who wants to be just like everyone else anyway. I never understood those people who enjoy emulating others. Be yourself! There is no one on this earth like you; so don't spend your time trying to be like someone you're not. If your Weird, embrace it. Trust, the kid holds on to it like I just got a million dollar check. I love being Weird; it truly defines me. Weird is part of who I am.

But, there is a vast distinction between being Weird and being a Weirdo. Let me be clear, being a Weirdo ain't what's popping!!! Weirdos are creepy individuals who we all should be aware of. They may do things like drive full size vans when they don't have any family but them, and hang out at play grounds and watch kids. Or they may get your number after posing as a cool individual. Soon as they get it and even before you get a chance to save them, they start texting or calling repetitively. They hit you more times then two boxers in a 20 round match! You don't get a chance to respond. Even when you delete them, they start to act like they can't live without you. Even though, you only started talking to them less than 24 hours ago. Now that my friend, is a definitely a WEIRDO. Avoid these Jeffrey Dahmar characters at all cost.

The key today, is not only understand that you may be Weird, but love yourself no matter who/what you are. You are who you are, and if you like it, I love it. Don't allow other people to make you feel uncomfy with your Weirdness or lifestyle choice. There is only one PERSON in the end you have to answer to. HE knows your heart. If you're Weird, be Weird. But please don't take it to the extreme. If you start to freak us out and move toward the Weirdo phase, we will call the cops and report you---WEIRDO.

Pull Them To The Side

0

So you have an issue with me or someone else? Why is it that you deem it necessary to make a scene or show off. If you really have issues with me or anyone else, why don't you do the courteous thing and Pull Them To The Side. In the words of TuPac, " A coward dies a thousand deaths, a soldier dies, but one. I believe that people who feel the need to always be seen before they are heard, are just that--- a coward.

I know to you, it's absolutely acceptable to be loud, rude or nasty to people that are all those things and more to you. But let me tell you a secret boo boo; the most hood rich thing you could do is yell, raise your voice or scream at people on the spot. If you really have a problem and it is worrying you that bad or p.o.'n you to the point that you can't control you anger, letting someone have it on the spot, won't help anyway. If you really want to find a solution, let s/he or them know you would like to speak with them, and Pull Them To The Side. Act like you have some manners and/or home training. Remember, the best way to live life is to treat others as you would like to be treated. If you want someone to Pull You To The Side, then you make sure you Pull Others To The Side As Well.

Work Is What It's Called

0

There are a few things in this life that I do fear: GOD & my G-Ma. Everything and everyone else doesn't really phase me like that. But I can tell you one thing I don't fear at all, Work. Yeah, that activity that one partakes in that causes them to exert energy. Works Is What It's Called. All of us have to Work. The GOOD BOOK states, if a man don't Work he don't eat. Yes, that does include women too. We all have to Work.

I am unsure why people don't like to Work these days. They would rather sit back and live off government assistance or some other type of subsidy. Some people think, in their mind, someone is suppose to take care of them. Ma'am/Sir, I don't know who you are in your head, but you are more than capable of taking care of yourself, by yourself. I understand everyone needs help, but for anything you need/want in this life you have to Work for it. Yes, I know that sounds like a foreign term, but Work Is What It's Called. Get off your tush and get a j.o.b. If you want better for you and your family; Work your way to a better life and circumstance(s). Thats how you get change, by Working, that Is What It's Called.

I Got This

So I've learned lately that everybody is a critic. No matter where you go, someone has something to say about everything you do. They share their thoughts, opinions, non-facts and/or lies whether we ask them for it or not. But listen up buddy, if you don't have anything positive to say, don's say anything at all. Trust, I Got This.

Everything we do in this life we will be held accountable for. Rather it be very small or extremely gargantuan, all of us will have to answer for our acts, behaviors and actions over our lifetime. I do understand that we all need people to keep us on track, but some of you just take it to the max. Every move we make you feel it is your sworn duty to tell us how it should or should've been done. Look bruh, I Got This. If I am going to be held accountable for something, I want to do it the best way I see fit. Yes, I value the suggestions of others, but I am going to do it my way like Usher. I Got This. Let me do me and you concentrate on doing you.

A Stress Free Me

0

I remember my G-Ma use to always say, "I ain't gon let y'all kill me." Oftentimes she was referring to her wonderful grands who love her so much that they would continuously give her a hard time with the simplest things, namely me. But on other occasions, she was referring to her boss, co-workers, church folk or things that she couldn't control. For instance, the light company, the phone company or the rent man. She use to always say that these things will kill you if you let them. And she is/was absolutely right. The things that go on in this life will kill you if you let them. One of those secret murderers is a thing called Stress. Stress will make you mind, body and soul collapse if you let it and take you out. But I decided a long time ago to live by this mantra: No matter where you see me, I will be Stress Free, because A Stress Free Me is all I know how to be.

I write to tell you that Stress isn't anything to play with. It will run up on you like a thief in the night. All of us need to be more aware of the things that Stress us and the things that help us release that Stress. The releasors should always out weigh the Stressors. Starting today, try to be more cognizant of those things that cause you to Stress or cause you Stress. If you can, let them go. If you can, try to better control them. I can promise you one thing, there will be A Stress Free Me, but there can be A Stress Free You Too, if you make it that way.

Ask Yourself

0

Every now and again when I am trying to stay focused on my pursuit of happyness, I catch myself asking myself a few questions. Not because I am crazy or like to hear myself talk, but sometimes we all can get sidetracked. So, I designed a way to keep myself on the path that I feel is best suited for me. If you aren't sure where you are going, or if you have problems going in one direction consistently, perhaps you should Ask Yourself the same things I do. I will share my top ten inquiries that I Ask Myself in order to stay focused. Ask Yourself and see if they help you. They may or may not, but who knows unless you try.

Take a moment and Ask Yourself the following:

1) Who Am I?
2) What Do I Stand For?
3) Am I The Same Person Today As I Was Yesterday?
4) Am I Doing Unto Others As I Would Have Them Do Unto Me?
5) What Purpose Does S/He Play In My Life?
6) Did I Check Myself First, Before Making Something Or Someone Else The Problem?
7) Since I Know The Problem, What Is An Amicable Solution?
8) I Know At First I Didn't Succeed, But Did I Try & Try Again?
9) If I Failed, Was It By Choice Or By Force?
10) If GOD Is The Captain, Am I Sure That I Am Second In Command?

Ask Yourself the aforementioned things. Some of them may render a swift answer, but others may take a little longer to find an answer to. That is good inquisitive process to go through. These are just some of the many things I Ask Myself, when self-reflecting to make sure that nothing, no one or anything throws me off my path to meet my end goals. While I encourage you to Ask Yourself these things, I am most certain the answers may not provide you with an answer to all life's situations and circumstances. But if you can find where to start then you are one step closer to finishing. Don't be afraid to Ask Yourself about Yourself. Only you truly know the REAL answers.

The Heat

0

Ok. I don't know what we did to the Sun but whatever it is, we are paying dearly for it. Whether you believe in global warming or not, our lack of appreciation for the environment and the earth as a whole is coming back to haunt us. We are having to deal with record level flooding, tornados that are rampant, and don't forget The Heat.

No, I ain't talking about D-Wade and Bron, I mean The Heat outside that disrespects you as soon as you walk out the door. It's so hot outside, they have to send advisory warnings out for people to drink plenty of fluids and to stay indoors in the a/c as much as possible. The Heat outside has no feelings either. It doesn't care if you are working outside, playing outdoors, taking out the rubbish, or just walking to the car, it will run up on you with the quickness.

Me, I hate to sweat, more than anything. It's just one of those bodily functions that I can appreciate, but don't care for. I would rather be cold/freezing then hot and sweating. But, The Heat could care less about what I like or you either. The Heat is on a mission and if you ask me it's winning. 105 degrees in the middle of a thunderstorm; c'mon mayne! How do you deal with that? It's a shame, but hey, we have to cope with it. I am sure it is a lot worse in other places; so let us not complain. Respect The Heat people, and don't find yourself laid up in the hospital because you decided you didn't want to hydrate yourself appropriately or stay in doors. Because if you do that, that means we gotta come out in The Heat to visit you, and neither of us are going to be happy about that.

143 (I LOVE YOU) - Musiq

I Love You Man/ Wo-Man

0

There is an another epidemic going on in this society. It has been going on for centuries and if I had to guess, I would say it has caused an unnecessary generational curse to stay in existence for way too long. Unlike most things, this is a race thing. This thing is destroying countless men and women in the African American community and no one seems to care. It's the plague of: I Love You Man.

Now, I know some of you are a bit confused, so I shall elaborate fairly quickly. All my life, I have been taught by every Man I know so be masculine, rough, tough, & hard core. But until just recently, I can't remember one male loved on, mentor, or friend that took the time to say these words, I Love You Man. For some strange reason, African American Men feel that they are emasculated when they display emotions to other Men. As if you become homosexual because you love your own son, brother, or father. This is no laughing matter. It is a serious issue and one of the number one causes why so many young black Men/Males are dying and being jailed at such a high rate. These young brothers don't get the I Love You Man from the places they should. So, they hit the streets in search of Love from gang membership, random women, and the countless children they produce with no intentions of supporting them. Or, they seek the I Love You Man from the respect they think they have earned by selling the most dope, having the most women, bullying the most people, and/or being feared by all. This is indeed problematic.

Sadly, this just isn't a Black Male thing at all. There are some African American Females that have articulated to me that they deal with the same issue. Mother, Sister, and/or Grandmother have never once said, I Love You... Wo-Man. This is so disturbing, because it leads these young girls/ladies on a path of destruction, as they spend their whole lives giving up their innocence, sharing their bodies, and/or enduring abuse just to hear I Love You. It breaks my heart to see young women, no babies, flaunting their babies around the store or the mall, when they should be flaunting baby dolls. They don't even know who they are as a young lady yet, but because they are seeking that I Love You, they are willing to do whatever it takes to feel Loved, needed, wanted, and special with no regard to the fact that s/he that is in her life doesn't Love Her Man. This is indeed troubling,

I would apologize for the length of this entry, but I am not going to do a disservice to this topic. My brother and I had an in-depth conversation regarding this issue the other day. Why is it that Men, especially African American fathers and others in the African American community don't show emotions toward their Male or in some instances female children. Dad, it doesn't make you any less of a provider or make your children respect you less because you hug them, kiss them, or tell them, I Love You. Mom, the same goes for you. Caucasian people and people of other races and creeds have mastered the art of Loving each other and saying it loudly and proudly. African Americans have mastered the art of having Love for each other, but not being able to display it. Maybe they just don't know how, because they never experienced it either.

But today, this has to stop and it has to stop now. It ends with you and I. I will lead by example. So here it goes...The FATHER, the SON & the HOLY GHOST, I Love You Man. Dad, I Love You Man. Eric B, I Love You Man. G$, I Love You Man. All my other male siblings, cousins, family members, frat brothers, mentors, goons, and any other males that are in my circle, I Love You Man. Not only am I going to write it, but the next time I speak to any of them, those will be the first things they hear me say, I Love You Man. Now, if I can do it, so can you. Let's change the world one, I Love You Man/Wo-Man at a time.

P.S.: Ladies, Ya'll Already Know I LOVE YOU!!!

Look Around You

0

Look Around You at this very moment. What do you see? I am sure some of you see your loved ones, while others may see a room full of material possessions. No matter what you see when you Look Around You, everything has some sort of value. Your family may be the only thing in the room when you Look Around You, but that is truly priceless. I would rather have a room chalked full of people who love, care, and adore me than be in a room of things that couldn't show me appreciation if their existence depended on it.

I ask again, Look Around You. What do you see? How do the things directly in your vicinity make you feel? Does the things Around You make you feel proud, accomplished, smart, rich or strong when you Look Around You? Do you feel like you have done well for yourself? Look Around You. If what you see right now was a snap shot of the life you life, would you proudly share it with the world or other people? If not, then you need to change your situation. Those things you see when you Look Around You may be the last things you ever see. So be careful what & who you keep Around You. Keep Looking Around You. The more you notice, the more you will see where you are versus where you could be. If you don't like what you see, then you know we won't. So it seems like its time for a change in your surroundings. Who knows? Look Around You, Look Around, Look....

Who Really Got Money?

0

Yo- What is up with people going to the club with duffle bags full of one dollar bills?!!! Is that truly stunting?!!! Besides that, you had to actually go to the bank while it was open and make a withdrawal for thousands and thousands of dollars in one dollar bills. I shake my head at you all. Stuff like this raises one question for me: Who Really Got Money?

If you Really Got Money, throwing out dollar bills isn't the business at all. If you Really Got Money and you plan on making a statement, throw out at least $2 dollar bills mayne. Like I asked before, Who Really Got Money? There is a difference between having riches and being wealthy. If you aren't sure, I will fill you in. Wealthy people don't necessarily feel the need to prove they Got Money. Instead buying 70 cars, $100,000 in platinum teeth and/or spending more money then they are bringing in, they play it smart. Most of them invest deeply and live meagerly. Rich people are more into status. They feel the need to make a scene. Like buying $1000.00 worth of t-shirts each month, because we have now become so uppity that we can no longer wear anything more than once. It's so ignorant! But hey, I guess since I don't Got Money, I am just hating.

Be it as it may, if you Really Got Money, then do something with it that matters. Stop investing in material things. Life is too short and there are so many people in this world, starving and homeless. Who Really Got Money? I guess we just need to look around and see how people behave. If they are still buying food stamps, drinking beer out of brown paper bags and/or driving cars that cost more then their house, perhaps they have riches, but I am almost sure, they don't Really Got Money. Just my one cent.

Family Comes First---By Whitney Houston

Family First

0

There are a few things in this life we all take for granted: the sun, water and other people just to name a few. But, I am here to tell you that without all of those things you would be in trouble. I know that all of us are always so busy with our daily lives, we forget the small things that keep us going, or overlook the big things that assist us in being who we are. I know it is not easy to find time for all the things that require our attention. But, I know we all need to re-double our efforts/work harder to keep Family First.

No matter how successful you are in this life, if you have no one to share it with, you will always be impoverished. Family should be right up there in First along with your relationship with the Higher Power, Oder or Deity you serve. Family is critical in the process of living, growing and maturing. If you aren't keeping Family First, what is it that you are living, working and struggling for? Family matters and at some point in your life, when all else has abandoned you: looks, money and your significant other(s), Family will be there. So keep your Family First & GOD; everything else will fall into its place. I promise.
