Feature: Why Do Women Like To Be Called A Bad Bit*h?!

0
The term “b*tch” has a double meaning. It can be used to represent a “bossy” lady, someone who takes charge, knows what she wants out of life and isn’t taking no for an answer. Or the term can be used to represent a woman who resembles someone with a trashy and poor attitude and just an overall bad personality. I’ve always wondered why women like to be called a “bad b*tch”, when it has such double meaning and it mostly associated with negative connotations.

Rapper, singers and musicians mostly in the hip hop genre use the term in songs to represent their “ideal” type of woman, and in turn our society has taken the word and labeled some of the most powerful women in our generation a “bad b*tch”. Look at women like Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce etc. How many times have you heard these women referred to as a “bad b*tch” or even refer to themselves as one?  It’s interesting to see how the word “b*tch” can be used to represent a women of power but at the same time can also be used to represent something negative. It’s also interesting to think about how a woman of authority is called a “b*tch” but a man in authority is a “boss”. Something to think about right?
I’d like to hear what some of the guys have to say about this topic? Do you like to date women who refer to themselves as a “bad b*tch”??

Generation Next Music

0
Music is so different these days. I know I wrote a few days ago about the importance of Good Music and how much I miss it. But, I have to embrace the Music of today, both good and bad. I call it Generation Next Music. There are so many artists that apart of this Generation Next Music movement. Artists like OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All), who to me are the D12 of today, have definitely changed the way rappers, the youth of today and producers are viewed. We all know the impact Lil Wayne and his Young Money label mates have made. Not one, but two or more of Weezy's artists top the charts when their albums are released. Jay Z's protege, J- Cole, has not only put North Carolina on the map again (Petey Pablo), but he has set the tone of respect for the Live Nation Imprint. Generation Next artists have changed Music forever. The days of respect women, honoring the elders in the game and paying your dues before you shoot a video with hundreds of women and Bentley's are far, far, far gone.

Originally, I refused to embrace Generation Next Music. I wrote it off. Artists like Plies, Soldier Boy, Wacka Flakka and many others were so pointless to me. I figured their Music was temporary & would be gone faster than Project Pat & AfroMan. But, boy was I wrong. These artists are some of the leaders of the Generation Next Music movement and are making major bank. Generation Next Music is causing real/older artists to re-double their efforts just to be relevant. Once top notch lyrical champs like Luda, DMX, Bun B, Nas, etc. struggle to sell records or to keep their Music videos and faces on Music t.v. Partially, why they feature Generation Next artists in their videos. Generation Next Music is here to stay until another movement comes along. Unless you have a huge Music catalogue like me, you will be forced to listen to what is playing on your radio, t.v. or sold in the Music store. I thank my lucky starts that I kept almost every cd and album I have ever owned. If you are in need of some non Generation Next Music, hit me up, I'll put you up on some real classics. Thanks Generation Next for ruining hip hop, Black Star power and making a mockery of all that our ancestors fought for. It is my hopes that one day you all take your power and influence to change this world for the better. Come on Generation Next, they future is are depending on you now.

Big Chillin'

0
I have figured out that everything and anything in this life can get the best of you if you let it. People can stress you, depress you or drive you bonkers if you let them. Situations can do the same too. I decided a long time ago that I wasn't going to to let anything or anyone kill me, if I could help it. Thus, I developed an antidote to all situations and people that could negatively affect me, I call it Big Chillin'. Sounds funny huh? Don't worry I will explain.

I know you all have heard the adage, "don't sweat the small stuff." Well Big Chillin' is very similar, but takes it to the max. Big Chillin' is psychologically not sweating anything at all. The warmer you keep your heart and mind, the cooler you will be. I, just like others of you, use to be a hot head. Both small and large things use to set me off like a bomb. But those days are a part of my past. These days Big Chillin' has become a staple in my life. Big Chillin' is who I am, and how I live daily. Big Chillin' is how I take on every situation and how I deal with all things and all people. I Big Chill every day and all day. If you are overworked, stressed, distressed and you can't seem to catch a break, feel free to join me. There is enough Big Chillin' to go around for all of us. I'm telling you, "once you totally embrace Big Chilln' it will change your life forever!"

That 1st Step Is A Doozy!!!

Conrad Murray & Michael Jackson

0
As most of you know, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson is gone. Today, marks the beginning of Conrad Murray's manslaughter trial. Mr. Murray was Jackson's personal physician.  Mike was having trouble sleeping and dealing with other things, and Dr. Murray administered drugs to Mike to help him sleep, etc. According to public records, Dr. Murray was administering drugs to Mike that were only suppose to be given to patients in the hospital, not at home. Also, Dr. Murray was present and was the person who called 911 when Michael Jackson was found unresponsive. But, by the time the EMTs arrived Mike was unfortunately gone.

I was devastated, just like many of you, when I heard Mike was gone. There will never be another star like him in our lifetime and beyond. But, his life was cut short due to reckless behavior. I am not sure if Dr. Murray is guilty of murder. However, he is guilty of administering too much/many drugs to Mike. Dr. Murray had a responsibility to make sure Mike was in the best care possible. In Dr. Murray's care, we lost Mike

Mr. Murray's trial begins today. While a jury of his peers will determine if he was responsible for Mike's untimely death, I will personally hold him and Mike personally responsible. Yes, I said it, Conrad and Mike are both guilty and as far as I am concerned. Conrad Murray will have to live with his participation in the demise of Michael Jackson for the rest of his life. I know that will hurt Mr. Murray worse then any legal outcome or time in jail ever could.

I Bet You Didn't Know This-- Elmo Is Black

0

While Kevin Clash performs several roles on Sesame Street, including Hoots the Owl and Baby Natasha, his name is synonymous with one in particular -- Elmo.

Elmo's character debuted in 1979, but it wasn't until Clash started performing him in 1984 that the effervescent red monster became the huge international sensation that he is today.
Clash, the third Muppeteer to perform Elmo, wasn't too enthusiastic about the character at first. But then he spent some time observing small children in the daycare center where his mother worked, and saw for himself that Elmo was resonating with them. The monster's joyful laughter and positive outlook on life struck a chord with kids and parents alike.
Clash created his first puppet when he was ten years old. In his 2006 biography, My Life as a Furry Red Monster, he recalls that one of his first creations was a monkey puppet made from the lining of his father's winter coat. His parents weren't too happy, but they were good sports about it, and supported his growing interest in puppetry.
Muppet designer Kermit Love noticed Clash's talent in 1979 and invited him to perform with the Muppets in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. He became an official Sesame Street puppeteer in 1984. Besides performing his regular characters, Clash has also sung in a variety of Muppet, film, and animation songs on Sesame Street, including One Fine Face, Happy Tapping with Elmo, One Small Voice, and Take Care of That Smile. Besides his performance work, Clash is Sesame Workshop's senior creative advisor. He is also Sesame Street's senior Muppet coordinatorand Muppet captain.

Clash's film credits include

  • Jim Henson's 1986 fantasy film Labyrinth
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I and II
  • Muppet Treasure Island, Muppets from Space
  • and Elmo in Grouchland

His television work includes

  • The Great Space Coaster
  • Captain Kangaroo
  • Dinosaurs
  • Muppets Tonight
He was co-executive producer for Elmopalooza, CinderElmo, and Elmo's World; co-producer for The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland; and he directs Sesame Street episodes and other projects. He directed and co-executive produced the Sesame Beginnings DVDs as well as the Kids' Favorite Country Songs DVD.
Clash has won Emmy Awards for Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series for his work as Elmo and Hoots the Owl in Seasons 21, 35 and 36, and in 2001-2006 for his work as co-executive producer for Outstanding Pre-School Children's Series.

RePost: Prime Example Regarding Jokes

0

Jokes Aren't Always Funny

0
I am a very sarcastic person. I crack a lot of Jokes and I am very silly. But I know what it feels like to be on the object of a comical situation. Thus, I am always cognizant of other people's feelings when I am making a Funny. I usually only Joke about situations or scenarios in which I can add my own flavor to make it comical. I aim to make my Jokes as impersonal as possible. I always avoid directly Joking on people because I know from personal experience, Jokes Aren't Always Funny. Especially, when you are the one being laughed at, and you Aren't laughing, nor did you find anything Funny about what was said.  It's like being on the outside of an inside situation.

Jokes lead to laughter, which is great for the heart and it makes us all feel better. But we have to know our audience and makes sure that our attempts to ease the lives of others by giving them something to giggle, smile or l.o.l. about is not offensive or degrading. Jokes are a good way to break the ice, ease tension and help people forget about all the negative things that are going on at home. However, it is imperative to know that Jokes, while not meant to offend or insult, Aren't Always Funny. So, sometimes its best we laugh internally and keep our Jokes to ourselves.

It's Just You

1
I don't know if you all understand this, but You are only one person. I am always surprised by the amount of pressure some people have on them daily. They are tasked with taken care of family, mates, friends,  bosses and everyone else that needs something.  But I write today to tell You, It's Just You. You are only one. Although You may be a strong and powerful one, You are one day going to run out of gas if You keep trying to do everything for everyone. As I always say, "If you try to be all things to everyone you will ultimately end up being nothing to no one." I do appreciate You trying to help others, but You have to re-fuel and re-charge at some point. Trust, I know this first hand.

You have to learn to take care of yourself first. I know it sounds selfish, but it's the only way You will be able to survive, avoid stress or leave this earth before your time because You ran yourself ragged. This is a serious problem that people face today. It causes unnecessary strains on your personal and professional relationships when You don't realize It's Just You. You can't be super wo/man to everyone. If ever You dropped the ball, then You suffer because now You are down on yourself because you were unable to do 50 things at once successfully.  I hope those of You who have this bad habit of doing the most because you feel you have to, read this, and read this slowly. I am not saying You can't help others, but you have to understand It's Just You. You can only do so much for so many. You have to take time to take care of yourself, because if You don't no one else will, or have the time to, because You were too busy doing things for others leaving no one room to do anything for You.

R.I.P. TROY DAVIS

Guilty Until Proven....

0
First and foremost, please join me in a moment of silence for Brother Troy Davis. On last evening Mr. Davis was given a lethal injection, thus his life was brought to an end. Whether you believe he was Guilty or not, he is still a human-being whose life was taken by the laws of this land. I am not here to talk about his Guilt or Innocence, but there is a bigger issue---The Death Penalty. How barbaric are we? As a people in these States United in America we are stuck in the Old Testament. An Eye For An Eye was the law of the land way before we had a functional form of government with laws that should allow a person to be Innocent Until Proven Guilty

These days it seems like everyone is Guilty Until Proven otherwise, or just plain Guilty because someone (s) said so. We are one of the only countries in the world who deem it appropriate to take another person's life in the name of justice and/or peace. I am not advocating against a country that has fair laws and equal justice for all, but that is not our country. People day-after-day are sentenced to jail and ultimately death for crimes they didn't commit. Yet, because we have this standard of allowing human beings to be the judge, jury and those who can end life, we aren't any more progressive than aborigines who live among the trees and nature. I am not here to say if Troy Davis was Guilty or Innocent, but I do believe we have an obligation to make sure whoever is sentenced to jail or death is 100% Guilty or close to it. Unfortunately, in the case of Troy Davis, only he and GOD knows if he was Guilty or Innocent. It's just sad that we couldn't wait a day, a week or a few months just be sure, he got what he deserved for the crime he allegedly committed. Somethings just aren't right, no matter how you slice it.

An Eye For An Eye, But Is It The Correct Eye?

0

(NEWSER) – Troy Davis will die tomorrow. Georgia's pardons board today rejected a last-ditch plea for clemency for the death row inmate, despite calls from the likes of Pope Benedict, Amnesty International, and Jimmy Carter for his sentence to be commuted. The panel announced its decision after hearing hours of testimony from his supporters and prosecutors, and the AP notes that the decision leaves Davis with little chance of avoiding death by lethal injection, scheduled for 7pm tomorrow.
Davis claims that he was wrongly convicted of killing off-duty Savannah officer Mark MacPhail in 1989—calling it a case of mistaken identity—and in the hearing, his lawyers attempted to establish "substantial doubt." Three jurors from the 1991 case asked the board to grant Davis clemency, with one saying she now doubts the verdict they handed him; a Savannah woman also told the board that at a 2009 party she heard Sylvester "Redd" Coles, who was with Davis just before MacPhail was shot, say he was the killer, reports theAtlanta Journal-Constitution. Counters Mark MacPhail Jr., "Justice was finally served for my father."

The chances of a Black woman finding a “Good” Black man are extremely slim, according to a study by Best Black Dating Sites.
The study claims that only about 3% of Black men fulfill the criteria of being a good, qualified partner.
The criteria was primarily based on data compiled on whether the eligible Black men were heterosexual, good-looking, successful, or childless.
What do you think about their findings?

The Fab vs. Ray-J Saga Continues

0
Written by Hello Beautiful Staff on September 20, 2011 10:15 am
Fabolous and Ray J’s fight is still the talk of the town. After news of the two brawling made headlines, the men have gone back & forth on the radio telling their own sides of the story.
Quick recap: Fab made some jokes about Ray J on Twitter after the HBO special “24/7″ (which chronicled the events leading up to the Floyd Mayweather/Victor Ortiz fight) aired and showed Ray questionably singing “One Wish” in Floyd’s living room (without any girls around). Ray J blamed the oddly-filmed incident on HBO’s editing, but was still pretty fired up once he ran into Fab in Vegas. Ray threw the first punch, but it’s been reported that Fab kicked his ass.
Ray J called in to Power 105 to give his side of the story to the Breakfast Club. Here’s an excerpt:
“When you wanna disrespect me and the Money Team and we got 7 Rolls Royce’s outside and we just made 350 on the…don’t disrespect me! I’ma smack you up again fool! N****s saying Ray-J got beat up?! I socked that n**** in the face! If you got Fab number, tell that n**** to send a picture of his face right now. Don’t disrespect me and Floyd like that. I play piano every day, that’s my big brother, we grew up together. So if you think I just came over there and sang, you got me twisted. I’m with the Money Team right now, I swear to God, he runnin’ from me right now. I got 100 fools outside and he never left that club, he was scared up in there, he tried to call the police.”
Power 105: What did he do when you hit him?
“Nothing, he fell back, he’s a sucker! When I seen him, I was with Floyd and 50 and he tried to say ‘Don’t touch me’ and I bust that n****.”
Power 105: Did he hit you at all? We heard he head-butted you.
“Nah, my team don’t play. If you disrespect me, don’t come to the West Coast. Head-butted me?! Come on! You call that fool right now and he’ll tell you what it is because he know my big homies is on his bumper. So, he gon’ apologize on The Breakfast Club, I’m gon’ make sure he call you to the Breakfast Club and apologize for his actions.”
Ray’s side of the story
Fabolous also called in Power 105 to talk to DJ Clue:
“That wasn’t Ray J, you can’t be serious. That wasn’t Willie Norwood, Jr. That wasn’t Brandy’s brother. This is no big thing to me. This is more a war on drugs than a war between Ray and me. This n**** is high and coked up or on pills and this is hilarious to me. I’m laughing at his whole character, there’s nobody that believes Ray J is gangster to that point unless he’s gonna prove it so now he’s gonna have to prove all this funny s*** that he was saying.”
“What really happened is he comes into the dinner, we all laughed about it, he was cool, everything was water under the bridge. [Later I see him] and I give 50 a dap, I’m going to give Floyd a dap and then Ray J chimes in, like ‘My n****, I’m here with the Money Team and we not feeling the jokes! We real n****as, we not b**** a** n*****!’ And he’s touching my shoulder and tapping me on the chest. But there was no fight, there was no swing; that whole story he made up was all lies. That n**** was on that Whitney last night. You can ask the Money Team that was standing there, that he’s probably the water boy for – there was no blows. So I grab him up by his little red hoodie like, ‘Chill, little red riding hood.’ The hoodie’s over his face. I could’ve mopped the floor with his kid if I wanted to. I didn’t swing on him, I wasn’t tryna Ortiz him. I let his hoodie go, push him back. He’s behind his security dude, screaming at the ceiling. Throughout the whole alteracation the only thing that happened was my shades fell off.”
Fabolous’ side of the story

Protect Yourself At All Times

0
I have to be careful how I write this. I don't want any backlash or extra haters this week. I kid, I kid! You all know the kid could care less what people say or think about me. But, I realize that most people aren't like me. Some people spend their entire life trying to fit in and gain the likeness of others. I mean they spend their whole paycheck trying to look cute. They will sacrifice eating period and just starve themselves to be skinny. Attencion Por Favor', "It doesn't matter what you do, people will always have something to say about it." While I strongly discourage you from living your life in the eyes of others, I do strongly encourage you to Protect Yourself At All Times. Vulnerable people are subject to severe damage: mentally, socially, spiritually, emotionally and physically.

I was watching the Mayweather versus Ortiz fight this Saturday and just in case you didn't see it, I won't ruin it for you. But, I will say, one thing I learned if nothing else from the fight is to Protect Yourself At All Times. No matter how apologetic you feel or how much you feel you need to help others, you must Protect Yourself At All Times. Life is filled with so many things. Some of life's challenges are very difficult to manage and others are very easy to conquer. Regardless, you must Protect Yourself At All Times. Don't just open your heart and mind up to any and everyone. Some people are out to ruin you and hurt you. We love you and don't want to spend years trying to put you back together. Although, we will if we have to. To save yourself embarrassment, pain and disappointment, Protect Yourself At All Times.

The Rough Truth

1
I am not too big to apologize if I deem necessary. I am also not too big to say that I am wrong or incorrect. But, I am stubborn to a fault. When I set my mind on something or think a certain way about something, it is very hard to change my thought process. I was recently advised by one of my clients that I should stop blogging and join Twitter. The person said, "Blogging is so two decades. If you Tweeted some of these phenomenal things you talk about, you would have thousands of followers and trending topics; you would be famous!" I totally missed the compliment because I was immediately agitated. You all know that the kid is disgusted by Twitter and some of the things it stands for. But, I took a moment to research and reflect on some of the positive aspects of both Blogging and Twitter. I suddenly had an "Ah ha" moment.

Twitter isn't all bad (I can't believe I just typed that), and that's The Rough Truth. But I still don't believe it's for me. The Rough Truth is, I was prematurely turned off by the way I saw people I know and celebrities abuse Twitter. But after watching the coupes around the world and how Twitter and Twit picking has exposed the egregious acts of violence and atrocities, The Rough Truth is, Twitter has both positive and negative aspects, as with any other social media. I don't blog for the masses, so I am not inclined to Tweet for the masses. While I would like a larger audience, I believe that its not the Quantity of people who follow WoodWorkz, it's about the Quality of them. I am very appreciative of the suggestion that I would be able to impact more lives by managing my own Twitter, but I am still not convinced this is the appropriate day-to-day path I would like to take to changing the world. I'll leave the Tweeting to our Captain, Wood. However, The Rough Truth is, as it relates to Twitter, I have considered it, and I will continue to seriously consider it. I will keep you all posted.

Family

0
Family is one of the most interesting things in this life. Family can be bad, amazing, giving, stressful, good, time consuming, needy, encouraging and so much more. Family is a gift, but Family members, just like anyone else, can make it seem like a curse. Similar to our race, we don't get an opportunity to choose our Family. Some of us have small Families, some of us have large ones. Some people don't have a Family at all.

We all, no matter how annoying or embarrassing they are, must thank our lucky stars for our Family. The old adage says, "You never miss a good thing until its gone." Don't miss out on what may come to an end at anytime. Enjoy your time with your Family while you still can. I always aim to live life with no regrets, which is based on my choices. I want no regrets for you too. So I ask you nicely, spend time with the ones you love, the ones who love you or the you use to love or you think you don't love you anymore. You only get one Family. Of course some of use would love to trade a few members in, but we can't. So appreciate the Family you have, love them unconditionally, and learn to make the best of it.

Prison Is Not The Answer; Education Is

Five years.
That’s how long Teonna Brown, the 19-year-old who beat transwoman Chrissy Polis in a Baltimore-area McDonald’s while an employee videotaped and giggled, is going to spend in prison. Brown’s 14-year-old accomplice—who is also Internet-famous thanks to the YouTube posting of the brutal video—remains in juvenile detention.
According to Baltimore’s WJZ, Brown tearfully told the court she was sorry: “My mother did not raise me like this. I would really like to apologize to the victim, Miss Chrissy Polis.”
Miss Chrissy Polis, who had a seizure during the beating and continues to have them along with flashbacks and a deep sense of terror and anxiety, doesn’t forgive Brown. In a letter to the court, she said just that.
Given that Brown’s mother didn’t raise her like this and she did “this” anyway, I’m not so confident that prison will teach her anything but more transphobia. But maybe, just maybe her sentence for a hate crime and first-degree assault will tell other B-girls how ridiculous, how pitiful, how wasteful, how dangerous, how dehumanizing it is to beat another being because of who they are. And maybe Chrissy Polis, who is now fighting for restitution from McDonald’s, will get some measure of peace.

Once again, we see that individuals only see the criminal justice system as the answer to all life's criminal activity. The sad thing about this is, yes, these young ladies need to be punished for their behavior. But they need rehabilitation, not prison. I am not at all condoning the actions/activities of these young ladies, but I have to say now as always---Prison Is Not The Answer, Education Is!
