Love, Live, Laugh, & Learn To Have Fun

If you know me personally, then you know for a fact why I don't drink or smoke. Part of it is due to family history, but the other part is because I am already crazy. No, not halfway house crazy, but I am known to do and say anything out my mouth. I am fine with who I am because I have learned through maturation that there are certain principles, values and ethics we all should live by. I place my importance in a few places, but I always make sure I focus on my abilities to, Love, Live, Laugh & Learning To Have Fun.
~Each of us should not only give Love, but we should spread it to those near and far. Love is so powerful and it, unlike money, can truly change the world.
~Each of us should Live. You only get one life and you shouldn't waste it on negative people or negative things. Live everyday as if it was your last and have no regrets.
~Each of us should Laugh. Research tells us that Laughing may extend our lifetime. Laughter is so pure and it eases the soul. Laughter is a direct correlation to your Happiness. So Laugh out-loud, Laugh often & Laugh a whole lot.
~ Each of us should Learn To Have Fun. No matter what is going on in your life, you should Have Fun. If you work hard, you should pay harder. If you aren't Having Fun with your loved ones, Having Fun at work or Having Fun with the current state of your life, you need to hit the reset button today.
There are many things that people live by. But I focus on Love, Life, Laugh & Learn To Have Fun because they are important to me and help me remember what I am here for. Should you have other things that you think you should do, that is perfectly fine. But add these to your list, because no matter what you do, you should always Love, Live, Laugh & Learn To Have Fun too.

Seek Clarity

In everything you do, Seek Clarity. If there is one thing I have learned over time is that even though we talk to each other, we rarely communicate effectively. I have engaged in numerous conversations with others and in the end we both left the conversation with what I thought was a Clear understanding. But, the next thing I know, what I took as my direction/instructions were not what was intended for me to do. Thus, as I move forward I will aim to always to Seek Clarity.
Each of you should aim to Seek Clarity as well. We should Seek Clarity in our conversations with our friends, family, bosses and/or co-workers. The ideal of being Clear in all understanding and expectations can save you and the other parties involved from unnecessary stress and heartache. I know we all live fast pace lives and with so many different forms of communication we rarely partake in face-to-face exchanges anymore. But you still have to Seek Clarity. Be Clear about what you want and need. Be Clear about what you meant by what you said or are saying. Be Clear about your standards, goals and/or aspirations. Be Clear about everything. Seek Clarity no matter what. It may be the best way to save an already terrible day from turning much worse---Clearly.

No Cards, No Cake, No Pomp or Circumstance...

So today marks the unceremonious end to a very rough, educational and tumultuous chapter of in the story of the life of Da' Intellektual. For the better part of the last three years I have been on this roller coaster ride that has presented me with innumerable challenges and some opportunities. I always knew, when employed or seeking employment, one should always want to continue to grow and learn through professional development and organizational training. Absent of any of that jazz, I have still managed to grow tremendously in my business acumen and now I truly understand the politics of education. It has nothing to do with service or dedication. It is about self=preservation. Thus, in then end, there is No Cards, No Cake, No Pomp or Circumstance For Me.
As I draft this last blog from the place formally known as my office, I reflect back on how this journey began. I had such enthusiasm, optimism and hope that one person, with a brain, hard work, dedication and positive attitude, could make a difference. While I believe over time, I was able to make some impact for the greater good, I am most certain that ultimately things will revert back to the way they were once I close and lock this door for the final time. I am not disgruntled, sad or mad, but more disappointed that young professional, especially young black men, who choose the boardroom/classroom instead of the block, aren't taking under some one's wing more often and shown the way up the ladder unless they are willing to kiss a$$ or sale their soul. Bitter I am not, because this chapter is ending by on my own terms, by choice and not by force. More importantly, as I always say, "as one chapter ends, another one begins." I still can't help but wonder, "did I do anything good?" If so, why is there No Cards, No Cake, No Pomp or Circumstance For Me.

Things That Matter To Me

Today, I feel this topic is of the utmost importance. You learn a lot about people, things and situations when you are moving on. I guess my talks about self-preservation really stuck with some. I know there are different Things That Matter To Everyone. But, there are only a few Things That Matter To Me. Just to be clear I will list them for you all to see. They aren't necessarily in order of importance, but some do Matter more than others. As you read my list, think about the Things That Matter To You. Perhaps, we may have more Things in common then you know.

Out With The Old, In With The New

Some people are emotional, social, mental and physical hoarders. Hoarders are people who try to keep/hold on to everything they have ever owned. These things may be material, physical, emotional and/or psychological. Hoarders refuse to let go of things, even if they know they have no use for it, or no where to put it. If you are one of those people you need to seek help today. You can't continue to hold on to what Tyrone or Letisha did to you in 1oth grade. Or the fact that your mom and dad didn't support you when you wanted to move to Alaska and become a skripper. I mean things in life happen. You have to let go. Me, I go through a process when reaching the end of the road with any situation, relationship and/or occurrence. I call it: Out With The Old, In With The New.
What I have learned in this life is sometimes we don't have room for new things or Blessings, because we are so fixated on holding on to what we currently have. GOD ain't gonna give you more than you can bear. So until you decide to let go of your past, you want be able to receive your present-day Gifts. Out With The Old, In With The New is an easy thought, but it is most difficult to come to terms with. Especially if The Old hurt you, abused you, fired you, lied to you, betrayed you or caused you to separate from the ones you love. But The Old has run its course. It's time to sit The Old on the curb and make room for The New. Baggage will cause you to miss your bus. I ain't saying it's easy, but you have to try. When things get way more difficult then they need to be, perhaps it's time to come to terms with the reality of your situation. Take a moment and say, "Out With The Old, In With The New." The New may be what you have been missing your entire life, because you thought The Old was the best thing to happen since seedless watermelon.

Debt Talks & Default

On days like today, I really appreciate being just a regular guy. I am no Al Sharpton, Roland Martin or any other public figure, so I can say what others are thinking. But at the risk of losing their position or power they have to be "politically correct." Not I! I hope you all are paying attention to what is going on in Congress and on Capitol Hill. These Debt Talks are really serious and will negatively impact all of us and someone we all know if the country heads into a state of Default. Mortgages, Social Security Checks, Car & School Loans, Disability/V.A. and Government employees are just a number of things that will be impacted if these Debt Talks don't go well.
So, why is it that we can't seem to come to a compromise on the budget for the entire county? Well, some will say it's because Democrats want to keep all social programs and Republicans refuse to accept any more tax increases. While some of that may be true, I have come up with what I surmise to be the issue: Race. Yep, I said it. This is an issue about Race. Never in history has the country ever come this close to Default. No other President in history has had these issues with Debt Talks. I mean, you can disagree, but I believe their are people of both parties who don't like the idea of having a "Colored" president.
The same people who say they support the President say terrible things about our President. During the Reagan years, the Debt Ceiling was raised 18 times and during son Bush it was raised 7 times. Each of them had Debt Talks, but they didn't go anywhere near the idea of letting the country enter Default. So yes, I am saying what most are thinking. They can't get anything bad on the Brother's background, his personal life or his education. Absent of scandals, they have to smear him somehow; in comes the unsuccessful Debt Talks and threat of Default. Race, Race, Race and Race again. It ain't about politics, its is about Race. Keep your head up President Obama, it will all work out in the end.

Know Your Role

A few years ago, well maybe six or seven now, I use to be one of the world's biggest wrestling fans. Of course that is professional wrestling, more specifically, WWF. One of my favorite wrestlers at the time, is still one of my favorite people to this very day--Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. This brother use to say this line, "Know Your Role and Shut Your Mouth!" The Know Your Role portion has stuck with me for over a decade now. The Shut Your Mouth, not so much. However, the Know Your Role was/is a very poignant and significant message.
As a youngster, the mere idea of Knowing My Role, kept me out of a lot of trouble. Even today, the fact that I, Know My Role, keeps me from having to deal with all the stressors of life. I write to all of you to encourage you to find Your Role if you don't Know it. Some of you have to say something about everything. Or if you're like me, you feel compelled to do something about everything. But, you have to Know Your Role. I am speaking from experience here people. As I say all the time, "If you attempt to be all things to everyone, you will ultimately end up being nothing to no one." You have to Know Your Role. Those things that you can fix/change, fix/change them. Everything else, take it to the alter and leave it there. Know Your Role people and remember you aren't a super hero. The ways of people and the weight of the world will bury you, if you let it.

Life Is A Book

I was speaking to someone just the other day. They asked me, "with all that is going on, why aren't you sad, depressed or afraid of what may happen?" My response was this, "the good thing about reaching the end of one chapter is you get to begin a new one. It signifies you are making progress in this novel called life. There is nothing wrong with completing one chapter as long as you have more to go. The problem would be if you finished your last chapter and all you have left is the glossary." Life Is A Book and we have to make our way through it, until it ends.
No matter what we do, we have to play the hand we were dealt. There is nothing we can do to exchange the cards we have, but we have to be intelligent enough to learn how to stack the odds in our favor. Life Is A Book and we are all characters in this story written before we saw the light of day. We are all, whether we like it or not, making our way through each line, precept and page until we reach the completion of the story. Life Is A Book. What is written in this Book can be altered by your choices and actions. Remember you have many opportunities to add to the pages of your Book. Bring each page to Life, by taking control of your Life instead of letting your Life control you. Life Is A Book and you should at least be the guest contributor/editor, since we all know the MAN UPSTAIRS is the author.

Your Shadow

How many of us actually take time to give reverence to our Shadow. Your Shadow is one of the most under-appreciated things about you. Yet, no matter what you do or where you go, Your Shadow follows. Your Shadow is more loyal to you then you are to yourself. Your Shadow is with you when things are up and Your Shadow is with you when things are down. I can't think of the last time I even took a moment to recognize the presence of my Shadow.
Your Shadow is an important part of you, and shouldn't be taken for granted. What if you looked down one day and Your Shadow was no where to be found? Then I bet you would be concerned/worried. Your Shadow is more then just a picture of you on the ground. Your Shadow represents who you are and it's a true depiction of where you are and the direction in which you are headed. Find Your Shadow and don't lose it or forget about it ever again. It really matters.

The Bright Side

I don't care how bad things may seem, you have to learn to look at The Bright Side. Some people are all gloom and doom. No matter what you say positive, they have a rebuttal that is indeed the most negative thing you have heard this week. But you must continue to look for The Bright Side no matter what. Life may seem like its all down hill some days, and you just can't catch a brake even if you was the pedal next to the gas pedal on your car. But you have to learn to be patient, focus and locate The Bright Side.
I promise you, things aren't as bad as they may seem. No matter how hard or rough you think you have it, there is always someone out there that has it ten even fifth-teen times worse. I encourage all of you to spend less time complaining, worrying and stressing. Focus on the one thing that is present in every situation---The Bright Side. It may not be easy to find, depending on your situation or circumstance, but trust me, it's there. The Bright Side is where there is peace and tranquility. Find your Bright Side today and watch things around you begin to change.

I Can't Stand The Rain!!!

This specifically goes out to my down south, golf coast, northeast and northwest americans. Man, I Can't Stand The Rain! Who does a brother have to sleep with to get a full week of sunshine? Don't answer that! But for serious though, man it is terrible. My brother, the true survivalist and part-time environmentalists is always like, "Man we need this Rain; you know how dry it has been?" In the back of my head I be thinking, "I don't own a home, and I don't have a yard, I could care less about the dang Rain." I absolutely hate it! I Can't Stand The Rain!
Rain is the most depressing thing to me. When it Rains, your hold day is ruined. Well, unless you are a couch potato and you don't care to go outside. Well, I'm not! And the kid needs some sun. Isn't the whole point of the summer is to tan or get a few shades darker. That ain't even an option when the sun is always hidden behind Rain clouds. Maybe it's just me venting. This may not mean a thing to the rest of the WoodWorkz Nation. But just in case you wanted to know, or thought of asking, I Can't Stand The Rain.

There is a saying that states, "All Good Things Come To An End." Whether we like it or not, it is true. No matter how sweet we think we have it, eventually it all will Come To An End. I think in this life sometimes we find our self getting comfortable with things that we don't necessarily own. Some of us pretend as if our rented homes, leased cars and/ or bank owned material items belong to us. But here is an update, you don't own none of those things. Yes, today, you maybe on top of the world, but tomorrow it all can be gone. All Good Things Come To An End. We all must be cognizant of the fact that we are only blessed to be here, but we don't own our time. All of us are on time leased from our FATHER up above. I urge all of you to take a second to remind yourself when we think we got it made, that All Good Things Come To An End. Let me say it again, ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END.

The Breastfeeding Doll; WTF?!!!

Ok, now this is getting out of control. As I was sitting in the airport this morning, I happen to glance over at the tele' and see a breaking announcement. "Coming soon to the USA, The Breastfeeding Doll." Yep, that just happened! They have developed a Doll that actually consumes Breast-milk. Apparently, it is very popular in other countries and now is finding its way to the US.
Steve Harvey was just as appalled by this as I was. On his morning show, he said, "with all these men around here, who needs a Doll to consume their Breast-milk? LOL! While I know that was a joke, the irony is, who does need a Doll to Breastfed. Moreover, what 3, 5 or 10 year old, needs a Doll that drinks Breast-milk. HELLO!!! Where in the hell will the child get the milk from?!!! I am no scientist or doctor, but I paid attention in my Sex Ed and Anatomy classes. I was taught only pregnant women were able to produce Breast-milk. And if they are with child, why the heck would they need a Doll for Breastfeeding purposes? I am perplexed; to whom is this Doll for? The creators of the Doll say that it is a tool used to teach young girls how to nurture at a young age. What's wrong with a normal, non-Breastfeeding Doll or a puppy?
Little girls today are under enough pressure trying to be prettier, skinner and coerced into having sexual relations before their mind is matured. The last thing they need is a doll that makes them want to become a mother so they can experience the real Breastfeeding process. I am not surprised by anything in this old anymore. I am almost afraid to ask, "what's next?" The world is getting crazier by the day. It's time to get my life right. Shaking My Dang Head In Major Disgust & Disappointment. Discretion

In mattes of the heart and mind, topics that may be sensitive and/or secrets, a little thing called Discretion in much appreciated. Because I don't see a lot of people using much Discretion these days, I am going to make a fair assessment that some people have never heard of Discretion or don't know what it means. Discretion is defined as: The quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information (google). In other words, Discretion means knowing when or when not to say/do certain things in front of certain people.
Knowing how and when to properly use Discretion can make your life less stressful. Some people enjoy drama and conflict, so they say what they want, when they want. Those are exactly the type of people you should use the most Discretion with, because they don't care who is negatively impacted by their words and/or actions. My people, a little Discretion isn't too much to ask for. I am just saying, some of us don't want our business all out in the street. Knowing who to tell what to, and when to tell what to, is one of the greatest uses of Discretion. Some people---You can't tell them nothing!
I hope you all now understand the true meaning of Discretion. Keep your mouth closed when you aren't being spoken to and spill the beans in the kitchen, not in the street. Turn The Page

Sometimes in life we have to learn to recognize when we have given the best of ourselves to someone or something. We have to find solace with whatever the outcome may be, as long as we have given it our best shot. All good things at some point have to come to an end. That doesn't mean it's over. That just means it's time for a new beginning. As I always say, if one continues to do what they have always done, they will only get, what they have always gotten. Thus, it is imperative that we all learn when/how to Turn The Page.
We go through so many situations and are involved in so many relationships over our lifetime. Some of them are very beneficial, some of them are tough and very challenging. No matter what, we must endure them, learn from them and most important, know when/how to Turn The Page. Sometimes Turning The Page can be very difficult and sometimes it can be very easy. We have to come to terms with the fact that we have to let some things and some people flow out of our life. That is the only way new things and people will flow into our life. In essence, we all at some point must Turn The Page. No one said we had to keep the same things or same people in our life forever. Thus, we shouldn't be upset or depressed by the idea that today, tomorrow or right now, once we Turn The Page, some thing or some one may be no more. Who knows? That might just be what's best for you and your life anyhow.

Practice Makes Perfect

In the words of my dude A. I., "It's Just Practice." While that is my dude, you see how the lack of sportsmanship, team mentality and presence at Practice derailed his career. I say that to say, Practice is very important. Most people should know, doing something repetitively can only make you better at it. The more you Practice something, the better you will become at it. Or you will soon recognize that maybe that specific thing may not be something you should continue doing/participating in.
Practice Makes Perfect. Well, not actually Perfect, but it does make you better prepared. There isn't anything in this life that can make you Perfect. But, Practice will Make you close enough to it. Just ask President Obama, Ali, Michael Jordan and/or any of the greats of our lifetime: where would they be, if they did not Practice until the found what some of us refer to as Perfection?

Winning Part Duex

Charlie Sheen, not unlike some other people I know, have taking this idea of Winning to a whole new level. What is funny is those who actually concentrate only on Winning traditionally are Losers in the end. Ask yourself, how important is it to Win? At what point is Winning more important than your competitors? I think some people ruin the game or the experience by displaying poor sportsmanship, due to the fact that all they do is focus on Winning. Don't get me wrong, no one likes to lose, but at some point, taking an "L" is the route one should go.
As I always say, sometimes when you Win, you actually Lose and sometimes when you Lose you actually Win. That may sound weird, but it's really true. I know DJ Khaled & T-Pain got us all thinking that all we should do is Win, Win, Win no matter what, but sometimes Winning isn't as glorious as you think. I have Won on numerous occasions and have taken my share of Loses as well. What I can tell you from my own personal experiences is Winning isn't everything. Especially, when you Win and no one is there to congratulate your victory but you. Worse the Loser gets more accolades for Losing then you ever could have imagined for Winning. This is just food for thought. The next time you get into a disagreement, an argument or any form of confrontation, think to yourself: Do I really have/need to Win? Sometimes not Winning on the surface will signify you as a true Champion on the inside and in the eyes of those who matter the most.

Limits

If you don't listen to anything I say or if you haven't truly read one post on the site, please understand this: It is important to know your Limits. Having an understanding of your Limits will give you the ability to avoid many stressors, arguments, unnecessary pressure and in some instances, jail. We all have Limits. Some we are easily cognizant of, others we don't find out about until that certain button gets push. But, once you know your Limits, you must always keep them in mind. There are people who will try to push you to your Limits or things in life that will take you to your Limits, but you can't under any circumstances let that happen. A Limit is like a dead end, once you have reach it, there is no where else to go. Know your Limits regarding life, relationships, work, love and your happiness. Don't take your Limits for granted. Your Limits can either make you or break you. The choice is all yours.

Humility

A little Humility goes a long way. Oftentimes, people refer to me as being arrogant. While I appreciate everyone's perception and do self-reflect when commented on, I tend to display an extraordinary level of confidence, not arrogance. But, regardless of what others think I am, I am still very Humble. One of the most important characteristics one could possible possess is Humility.
There isn't anything flattering or exciting about Humility, but it is essential to building/forming good character. Humility is derived from the word humble. It simple means, being modest and respectful. Humble people display Humility. I can't tell you how nice it is to be in the presence of people who display Humility. They just seem to have, "great home training." Humility is a virtue, just like patience. It can be learned, but not necessarily taught. Everyone should display Humility, no matter who you are or what you do. Even the great ones fall! Be ye' Humble always. Understand that you are who you are because someone paved the way. Don't be arrogant and keep feeling yourself all your life; show a little Humility today. It doesn't hurt at all.

Planking Explored

If you haven't heard of it by now, Planking is this new game that people are playing all over the globe. To try to describe it in words, it's the act of lying flat on top of random objects with your arms directly by your side and your head up. It seems like an innocent form of fun, but what little fail to know, well until most recently, thanks to rapper turned actor, Xzibit (tweet below) and history books that no one took the time to read, Planking is not a fun game at all.
Planking unfortunately, is a modern-day demonstration of how slaves were forced to lie on the floor board of ships as they took that horrid journey from their free homeland to an enslaved destination. Planks are pieces of wood that were utilized to create the flooring of these massive slave transportation vessels. Each slave was forced to lie flat on the Planks of the ships with their head up. They were then chained together at the neck, arms and/or feet in this Planking position.
For some odd reason, I never gained an appreciation for this Planking game, even before I really knew of its origin. It just didn't seem funny, interesting or intelligent to me. The sad part about it, is that once celebrities started Planking, then of course all man-kind had to join in. I know games are made to be fun, but sometimes we have to be careful to make sure we aren't mocking people who labored and died so we can have these so-called freedoms. I am not tripping, because most people, even when given access to education, continue to stay ignorant. So, Plank away people, Plank away celebrities, Plank away Ninjas. Continue to make us all so proud---SMDH!

Your Opinion

Every now and then I notice some people hang around conversations, but they never say a word. I mean, it could be a group discussion or a one-on-one talk, and they don't speak up or contribute to the talk. I know some people don't like to talk in front of groups, but these people won't even speak in front of their own friends and/or loved ones. I understand sometimes you just don't have anything to say, but at some point you have to speak up. I think some of these type of people, just don't want to talk because they aren't sure what to say. But I am here to say, Your Opinion matters so just say what you feel as long as you feel what you say.
Your Opinion on various topics matter a lot because it gives others insight as to how you think. Yes, some people may over talk you, get loud and/or seem uninterested when you speak. But you can't let these immature tactics detour you from stating Your Opinion. I encourage you strongly to share Your Opinion when you are asked or when you deem it necessary. If you don't share Your Opinion people will formulate an Opinion that may not be Your Opinion at all for you.
The only way to get involved and comfortable with stating Your Opinion is to immerse yourself into conversation. The more you do it, the more you will get use to sharing Your Opinion. Sure, you may not be right, or even close to accurate, but that is why it is called Your Opinion and not fact. You may be right or wrong, but if you never speak Your Opinion, you will never find out. Just like you matter so does your thoughts, concepts, ideas, perceptions, feelings and most importantly, Your Opinions. Start contributing to discussions today. Some people, like me, have been waiting a lifetime to hear Your Opinion and what you truly think.

The Tongue

Whether you know it or not, The Tongue is a very important muscle. There is so much power in The Tongue. The Tongue must be of major significance. If not, it wouldn't be housed inside your lips, behind your teeth, between your jaws and inside your mouth. Anything that needs that much protection must be something serious. The Tongue does so much more then we all know. Not just for the body, but in the words we speak each and every day.
The Tongue need not to worry about employment, because it already performs numerous actions every second, minute and hour. The Tongue holds your taste buds; The Tongue controls your pronunciation; The Tongue serves as a toothpick when you can't find one; The Tongue helps you swallow; and more importantly, The Tongue helps you speak. The Tongue should under no circumstance be taken for granted. If you didn't know, The Tongue is one of the most important organs in the body. Watch your Tongue. Be careful how you use your Tongue. And last but not least, move it out the way when you are chewing because LORD knows when you bite your Tongue, it makes you want to snatch it right out your mouth.

There are many wonders of the world. Some may argue that there are on 9, but I beg to different. Some things in this world make you think more in-depth about how mankind exist and the intellectual prowess of human beings. One of the most interesting structural wonders to me is Bridges.
Bridges, like people, come in all different shapes and sizes. Some of them are short, some of them are long. Some of them were constructed in days, or weeks. Some of them may have taken years or even a decade to design and construct. But, Bridges represent an important key to this life. Bridges allow all of us to navigate across other bodies of land, bodies of water and/or other Bridges to get from one destination to another. As a kid, I use to be terrified of Bridges. Who am I kidding, there are still some Bridges that make me feel a little queasy. However, I respect Bridges for what they are and the significance of there existence.
But, no matter how strong a Bridge may be there are elements out there like: wind, water and fire, that can bring even the most amazing Bridge to its demise. In a more human sense, I believe we have to be cognizant of the Bridges, otherwise knows as relationships we build between one another. Depending on the strength, or the lack thereof, of the Bridge between people; the fire of a disagreement, betrayal, dishonesty and or disloyalty can Burn a Bridge to the ground. The Bridges we construct between each other are just as important as the ones we drive on daily. And just as with the structure we drive on, we have to be careful not to Burn Bridges we have between one another. Burning Bridges eventually lead you to dead ends. If you feel like because you have used your Bridge (relationship) to successfully get to where you need to be and you don't need it anymore; I warn/caution you to be careful and think hard about the decision to continue Burning Bridges. The Bridges of the world may be rebuilt but some Bridges between individuals, once they start Burning or are Burned----no matter what you do, they can never be re-constructed.

Summer Time

Summer Time is here and in full affect. As much as humanly possible, you should be outside having fun in the sun and spending quality time with your loved ones. Summer Time is that special time of year where you might spot people of every race, creed and culture outside enjoying a buffet of fried chicken and watermelon. Make no mistake, African Americans aren't the only people who enjoy this combination. Plus, watermelon is a dessert, contrary to popular opinion we have to have some biscuits, mash potatoes, macaroni, or something. I disgress...
Summer Time is synonymous with vacation time. And if you haven't planned one yet, it would behoove of you to surf the net for one of those great vacay packages; get that leave slip from work approved; gather the family; and head out on an adventure that will be remembered for years to come by all. Take advantage of the Summer Time because work, school and haters aren't going anywhere. They will be right in the same place you left them when you get back, trust.
Summer Time is not just about the heat. It offers us so much more. I don't know what you all have planned for your Summer, but this Time I encourage you to do it big. You never no when this Time of Summer may end up being your very last time.

What Lies Ahead

Uncertainty is something we all have to face. There are so many things in this life we don't have answers to. We don't know what today will hold, let alone tomorrow. But in essence we all must live, until we find out What Lies Ahead.
The future is not promised, and the present is only as guaranteed as the time frame we are in right now. No matter how hard we try to predict, forecast and/or project, we can only live in the realities of the now, until that time comes when we find out, What Lies Ahead.
The problem with people these days is they put too much energy into things that just don't matter. While those things that do matter go unappreciated, unnoticed and unloved. No one, and I mean no one, on earth that is, knows where you or I will be this time tomorrow, or next week. Only HE knows What Lies Ahead. Since we can't see into our future, we should work diligently to maximize our moments in the present. For we have no idea What Lies Ahead. So don't put off until tomorrow, what can be done---right now.

White Privilege
0Now, this may not be the most popular thing I ever wrote, but the above is a tale of what I deem--- White Privilege. There isn't one person on this earth, including Casey Anthony and her defense team who believes she was innocent in the death of her daughter. I am saddened to know that as Nancy Grace profoundly tweeted, "The Devil Is Dancing." I am not one to judge, nor am I one to improperly prosecute someone without a fair trial. So, now that Casey has had one, I am ready to render my verdict. This chick is more guilty then Churches Chicken is in killing people due to high blood pressure, hypertension and heart disease. She may have been found innocent in eyes of man, but one day she shall face HIM who is w-out sin. She shall pay the price as all of us will for our transgressions. While you and your team celebrate Ms. Anthony, the rest of us grieve. I pray that one of these days you find a way to atone for that which you seem to get away with---Murder.
Quality Time---Re-Visited

I understand now more than ever the importance of Quality Time. It's sad that sometimes we have to suffer the great loss of someone we love or cared for before we understand some of the most basic concepts in life like Quality Time. Quality Time, sometimes referred to as, QT, is important to all. Everyone needs Quality Time. Children need Quality Time with their parents, just as adults need Quality Time with their significant others.
Quality Time, whether we believe it or not, is very important and we must be aware of the significance of it to others. The murder, suicide and rates of violence is astronomically high and problematic due to factors like lack of Quality Time. Some of these issues could be solved with a hug and some love. Some people think material things matter and money buys happiness, but Quality is truly priceless/invaluable and there ain't a price tag in the world you can put on that. Thus, I encourage all of you to take a moment to spend a little Quality Time with those that matter while you still have time to do so.

Mean Muggin'

What in the world did I or anyone else ever do to you? Why is it that you have to look like you bit into a lemon and now you can't get the taste out of your mouth? Whatever it is that you are going through, I am sure it could be worse. Do you really think that face makes you look intimidating? Well, new flash---it doesn't. Actually you look like a fool. So quit your Mean Muggin'! For those of you who don't know what Mean Muggin' is. It is when people walk around with a permanent scowl on their face. They look like a pit pull or like someone took a number 2 on their top lip. Yes, its just that awful. And frankly, I am over it. Mean Muggin' is so 2001.
It is sad that today you will see way more people Mean Muggin' then you will see smiling. I don't get why everyone is so upset. Sure we all are going through at this moment, but you can't be mad at the world. If you want to Mean Mug' something: Mean Mug the gas pump; Mean Mug the politicians; Mean Mug social media; and/ or Mean Mug your favorite rapper's favorite rapper. All of the afore deserve a good Mean Muggin' for the level of ignorance they display and their blatant disregard for the welfare of us all, but we don't. I know you have heard the old saying, "it takes twice as many muscles to frown as it does to smile." So why aren't you smiling? Don't get me wrong, I am not a person to be cheesin' all the time either, but I sure don't walk around looking like I got hit in the face with a bag of ugly. Some of you can't help that, but you can at least stop Mean Muggin'. Get over whatever it is that you are thinking/feeling to make you look that way. It isn't cute, sexy or cool. Actually, you just look like a da*n fool.

Independence Day, Or Is It?!!!

I appreciate all your well wishes on this 4th of July. But I don't celebrate the 4th of July otherwise known as Independence Day. I unfortunately don't partake in the celebration of Independence Day. Think about it, what have we as a people gained Independence from? We are still an enslaved culture to this very day. The only so called freedoms we have were granted to us by those who enslaved us from the start. That is like a husband who beats his wife regularly, teaching a class on domestic violence. (shaking my head) I am thankful, because I know we do have a lot more freedom(s) then people of other nations. But until we are truly free from oppression, obsession with superstars, depression from not being skinny or rich enough, only then will I celebrate Independence Day.
I am not like others, because I don't blame our issues on the "man." To me, there is a "man" inside of each of us. The "man" in us holds us back from being who we were destined to be. We will never be Independent until we free our mind to explore other options. We will never be Independent until we can hold others around us who are destroying our culture accountable for their actions. We will never be Independent until we boycott social media's depiction of us on t.v. I highly anticipate the opportunity to celebrate our Independence on that glorious Day when it comes. Until then, you keep shooting your fireworks and I will keep being optimistic that one Day, this nation or those people around us will, "Give us, us, free."
Lift Up

You know what? People are really crazy. Always trying to outdo one another, always competing – and for what? Just to say I’m better than you or to feel as if they have something you don’t. Really people, is that what life is supposed to be? I think not. 9 times out of 10, people feel the need to belittle or put down the next man because they, themselves, feel low. But that’s not even the sad part. The sad part is, they can’t feel better until they make you feel worse. They don’t see value within themselves so they have to devalue the things around them. These things can be me, you, or the next man, for misery is indiscriminant.
This was the premise of a recent conversation I had with a friend the other day and towards the end he asked me “so what’s the solution?” The solution is simple. We, meaning all of us, need to learn to uplift one another. We must learn to acknowledge the accomplishments of others in a non condescending way. I cannot tell you guys how many times I’ve received a congratulatory comment anchored in condescension. “Oh you think you’re all that because…” or “don’t get the big head just because you’ve …” It’s this type of behavior that creates negativity and disdain amongst people which creates and fuels unnecessary competition. It’s a circular thing!!! Get it! I truly hope so. Either way people, get your mind right, and the rest will follow. I promise.
