do-rag
The do-rag has been a classic in Black households for decades, but a change has come to this basic tool for waves and wraps. Aaron Henry has created the Tsu-Rag, an alternative to the do-rag.
Because of his invention, anyone wearing a do-rag no longer has to worry about lines on the forehead after extended use, and there’s a velcro strap to keep it in place. Find out more about Aaron Henry’s remixed do-rag at BlackVoices.

Feature: T.I Talks Prison & The Alleged Sexual Conduct With Tiny

t.i and tiny
T.I has been opening up about his recent prison stint, new book and sexual rumors we heard  that may have happened while incarcerated. In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club T.I divulges the information and juicy details we were all hoping to hear!
On getting into a fight in prison:
I did [get into a fight] but not this particular time; it was the first time I went. I guess I had been there about a month or so.  It wasn’t face to face, like total disrespect, that kind of thing. It was just a guy who I was rocking with that said, “Hey man, I had to holla at this dude and I had to straighten these guys out because they were talking about this, that and the other about you.” I said, “What did they say?” Man, he told me what they said and I took it as being disrespectful and so I asked dude “Is that how you feel?” and he was like, “Well, yeah …yada yada.” I said, “Well, I need to see you.”
The Alleged “Hand Job:”
Let’s just say that they have their rules and their rules say that hands should be visible at all times. If the hand is not visible then they imply or assume that certain activities are taking place. So the activity doesn’t have to be taking place if the hand is hidden.

I’m not denying the hand wasn’t visible. I’m not denying that but I am denying that there was a full fledge hand job being accepted or given. I will say this, there was nothing been done right then and there that could not been done in any public place outside of that prison.

Feature: Would Legalizing Marijuana Make Life Better For Black Americans?

Written by The Grio on October 21, 2011 5:23 pm

A recent Gallup poll indicates that 50 percent of Americans are in favor of legalizing the recreational use of marijuana. African-Americans tend to hold more conservative views on drug legalization, in spite of the fact that African-Americans are far more likely to be arrested and prosecuted for marijuana possession than their white counterparts.

Proponents of marijuana legalization say that this perspective might change if there were greater awareness around the foundation of the “War on Drugs” in the United States. “There is a lot of evidence to suggest that the origin of these laws was intended to be [utilized as] the new Jim Crow. In order to criminalize large swaths of the population,” said James Clark, a criminal defense attorney in Oakland, California.
African-Americans are often categorized as politically liberal. However, the black church has a large influence on the moral compass of the African-American community. This often-conservative influence might provide an insight into why African-Americans are against relaxing the drug laws that often split up their own families.

Wesley Warren Jr. has a huge problem.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the Sin City man is asking for donations to help him afford a $1 million surgery to remove 100 pounds of tissue from his scrotum. Doctors are puzzled by what may have caused the rare condition known as scrotal elephantiasis, which typically develops in people living in the tropical sectors of Africa and Asia, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Lil Wayne is certainly confident and effortlessly genius. He has transformed himself from artist to boss of one of the biggest music crews around. Though, on top of his game he plans to retire around the age of 35! In a recent interview with GQ, Wayne talks about being a soccer-dad and how it feels to be sober.
On Retiring:
Basically, I have been doing this for eighteen years. That’s reason number one. I have accomplished all that I have set out to accomplish and more. Also, I have a label, and I’ve only put out two artists [Drake and Nicki Minaj]. I have a lot more work to do, and it’d be selfish to not focus on being the boss and focus on their projects.
But the main reason is my kids, my children. Now, if I thought I’d be selfish to my artists, imagine what I think I would be doing to my kids. I have enough money that they don’t have to ever do anything—which, they will do everything, ’cause they ain’t getting shit. [cackles wildly] Six [more] years, I can do this Lil Wayne thing, and my boys will be about 7 and 8 years old. And man, it’s all about them then. You know, whatever they’re doing. Sports. Whatever they’re into. That’s where I am. I’m at every game. I’m the dad with the hat on. The jersey. That’s me.
On Being Sober:
I’m good. I ain’t tripping. I’m used to it now. But I was never on heroin or cocaine or Ecstasy or nothing like that. I drank syrup and smoked a lotta weed. I wish I could be back on it. That’s how it fucking feels. [cracking himself up] “How does it feel to be sober?” I’ll be like, “It feels fucked-up.” What you want me to say? “It feels great”? No. I was on something that the doctor prescribed. I was ill, and that was helping me.
