Black History Month

Someone most recently asked what were my plans for celebrating Black History Month. I think my initial response surprised them. I said, "I don't celebrate Black History Month."Of course the person's mouth hit the floor and they were shocked. But, then I completed my statement. "I don't celebrate Black History Month just in February." "Personally, I celebrate Black History Month every month of the year."

I am a huge proponent of celebrating the accomplishments of people of color, every day. Without these people, you or I wouldn't have the opportunities we have today. I think all of us, black, white, brown or green, owe it to those who came before us to recognize their accomplishment, and make sure our works in life allow future generations to have opportunities and chances because of what we have done, like those who came before us.
