The Forest Through The Trees

0

There is an old adage that talks about seeing The Forest Through The Trees. I think now more than ever before, I understand what this means. Sometimes in this life we can get caught up in those small, minute, unimportant and/or non life changing things. Those things that are so insignificant to who we are and have no major impact on our future, We focus so much on things of this nature that we don't see the big picture. All we see are those Trees, but we don't see the Forest made up by each one of those Trees. Every Tree has a story, but the Forest is a true collection of all our stories, folk tales, dreams, goals and aspiration.

There are a number of times where we accept the little things that are tossed our way or find there way in our lane. But we can't get thrown off by those Trees. We have to look beyond the smoke and mirrors, those Trees, and seek out the Forest. These days we all need to re-double our efforts to stay focused. There is so much going on in this world. Everywhere we turn there is something that is going on in our neighborhoods, our lives and in our personal circles. But we cannot let those Trees distract or derail us. We have to set our sights on locating the entire Forest. Somewhere in the Forest lies our various Trees that contribute to the actual Forest. We have to seek out our Forest to find each Tree that defines who we are. Our Destiny lies in the Forest, not just with one Tree. Don't let just one Tree or branch define who you are. You have a whole Forest to journey through. What are you waiting on? I promise you, you won't regret the trip.

Trust

0

There are few things that go a long way. Airplanes, bodies of water and Trust. Trust is very important in every relationship/association you have in this life. If you don't have Trust between you and your spouse, lover, family, friends and/or co-workers, then you don't have anything. Trust is a major part of one's functionality. If you cannot Trust those around you, then you need to surround yourself with others who you can Trust.

My ideal on Trust is this: I give everyone, no matter who you are, a generic level of Trust. Until you give me a reason to disTrust you, you have all the Trust you need from me. Now, the level of Trust you have with me can go up or down. But know this, once its gone, it's gone. I don't go in reverse. If you destroy the level of Trust I give you that you didn't have to earn, there is no way I can allow you a chance to disappoint me twice. That doesn't mean we can't be kosher, but just know I won't Trust you as far as I can throw you.

No matter how you deal with Trust, know that it can be given but its probably at its best when it is earned. Be careful with your Trust. Treat it like your heart and your love. Don't be reckless. You just can't Trust everyone. And if you are one of those people who do, be prepared for a crash landing. Because someone, somewhere is going to ruin your day(s) or perhaps your life. Trust is sacred, give a little at a time, not all at once. You will see the benefits of taking your time to Trust---Trust me.

Stay The Course

0

No matter what you do in this life, there are going to be a number of things that may get in your way. Some things are obstacles and some things are detours, but it is of the upmost importance that you Stay The Course. Don't let anything or anyone through you off track. Stay The Course. Don't let situations or occurrences prevent you from completing your daily tasks/assignments. Stay The Course. Don't let your past or your present stop you from receiving the Blessings that are slated for you. Stay The Course. No matter what happens, Stay The Course. Your Enemies, Naysayers, Haters & even your Friends sometimes will derail you. You can't, under any circumstances, let that happen. Stay The Course. Only you know where you began and where you want to end. Thus, it is imperative for you to---Stay The Course.

Losers Who Win

0

I have to admit that I have just had an epiphany. As some of the great motivation speakers call it, an "ah ha moment." At times, life seems to be a huge competition, with experiences filled with Winning and Losing. But sometimes Losers are actually those Who Win. Most recently, I was adamant about a certain life choice and the things I need to do in my immediate future. But, other people didn't think I was a good fit; so I actually got semi-disappointed because I felt like I Lost. But, in essence, by suffering said defeat or a Lost, I may actually be a Winner on the other end. While the current scenario may not be fit for me, perhaps today's Lost may be setting me up for tomorrow's Win.

No one likes to Lose. But, if you never Lose then you don't understand the complexities of garnering a Win. I tend to Lose on a few occasions, but I tend to Win sometimes. So, it's a unique balancing act. I write to encourage you all to not be afraid to Lose. A Loser today may actually be a Winner by tomorrow. Don't let the fear of a Lost discourage you not to seek a Win. At the end of the road somewhere there is a Victory/Win with your name all over it.

A Server At Heart

0

During my varied experiences in this life, I have come to realize a number of things. Most recently, I have learned that while I am called to Lead in a number of occasions, I am truly A Server At Heart. My philosophy is simple: Before you can Lead you must first learn to Serve. If you don't take time to Serve, then you won't understand the true role of a leader. There are those of use who enjoy Leadership and the call to Serve. I just happen to be one of the selective few who enjoy the Serving part way more than the Leading. It's not that I don't enjoy being a Leader, but on occasion, the Leader capacity causes us to get caught up on the business/politics of maintaining that position, thus, we forget our constituents or those we originally aimed to Serve.

I am not perfect in any way, but through the years I have come to understand the complexities of Leadership and I most certainly understand the call to Service. I don't expect others to be influenced to change their ways, but I do believe all Leaders should evaluate themselves by those they Serve. If you are being exalted and/or promoted in your Leader role. Make sure those you Serve are those doing the exalting and are content with your promotion because through your the Service you render to them, they feel it is most deserving. Sometimes, we move up and leave those we "think" we are Serving behind. True Leaders understand that to be successful, they must be A Server At Heart. Personally, I am just laborer, nothing more, nothing less. These days, I Lead only when I get to Serve because A Server Is Who I Really Am At Heart.

Renovating You

0

Oftentimes in this life, we exert so much energy helping others, that we barely have time to help ourselves. While serving others to me is the cornerstone of life, we all must be reminded that we have to keep ourself serviced as well. Self reflection keeps us all humbled in the services we render for others. It is so much easier to look at other people and pick out their inconsistencies, flaws and/or faults. But we must be vigilant with observing and recognizing our own issues and imperfections as well. Once you can be honest with self and can identify what you must improve upon or change, you may then begin Renovating You.

Renovating You may be a difficult process. Especially if you are unable to be honest with yourself regarding how imperfect you really are. However, I write to tell you that the Renovation process can be one filled with much enjoyment and excitement. Now, I am not encouraging you to self evaluate and Renovate for anyone else. I am asking you to do the afore for you. The only thing constant in this life is change; which means if you aren't constantly/currently Renovating You, then you are on "pause" and the world around you is passing you by. You may look at self and realize that your foundation, walls and ceiling is fine, and that may be true. But, a little self Renovation never hurt anyone. Renovating You, allows you to not only re-define who you are, but also set a standard for how others should interact with you, treat you, appreciate you and most importantly love you.

Renovating You can be tough, but it is well worth it. If you are unsure you have the craftsmanship to do your own Renovations or the ability to identify those things that may need to be Renovated, just grab a pen and jot done where you were yesterday, where you are today, and where you plan to be by tomorrow. In that written plan, you will be able to see where the Renovating You process should begin. Because if you are still dealing with issues of your past, your Renovation needs to begin immediately. The past is just that ---The Past. Leave it there and Renovate Your way to Your Future. You have all the tools you need right in front or around you. Find them and use them. Tear down those walls---Today!!!
