Is "Free" really "Free?" Can one really be "Free" to be s/he? Can I be "Free" to be just like me? To be a four letter word "Free" when put in its various contexts can mean so much to so many or so little depending on the eyes of the beholder.
"Free" Volume One---Lately, I have been contemplating a number of things in this life. Wondering if the decisions I made, personally and professionally were for the best. Now, this has only become more relevant as I began this transition phase in my life. While I don't live my life with regrets, there are some things I do wish I would've done different. I only think of them for a moment, and then I am on to the next thought. Oftentimes in this life, we can get caught up in the bondage of our past. We spend way too much time holding on to things that changed us back them, but aren't so relevant today. I too, have some things that weigh me down, but I am learning to let them go slowly but surely, its is the only way I will truly be mentally, socially, and emotionally "Free."
"Free" Volume Two---The word "Free" is really tricky. On one hand it means there is no cost associated with something or someone, but in my mind, someone/something always pays the price. I personally believe that nothing in this life is "Free." Somewhere down the line, someone or something will have to cover the charge. On the other hand "Free" in a sense means there is nothing holding you back. You are "Free" to think, "Free" to explore, "Free" to dream. This type of "Free" is endless, like there is no boundaries on one's imagination unless we put them there.
"Free" Volume Three--- There is another type of "Free" that signifies a passage from captivity, mentally or physically. Like in the terms of "Free"dom. But again, I believe there is a cost associated with this as well. People lost there lives and gave everything they had, plus some, for others to have this ideal of "Free"dom. Sometimes, I question if "Free" dom is something that really exist because it comes with limitations. "Free" dom is still governed by laws, rights, and rules, thus, it is not really "Free"dom at all. I am glad to have some sort of "Free" dom because I know in other countries we have the right presently to do things on a daily that other people would get killed over. I think "Free" dom is a disposition filled with pleasantries and some unpleasantries, but I am not so sure it is real. I think its more of a state of mind.
"Free" is very diverse. It has its way of defining moments, people, and nations. When something is "Free" somewhere prior or in the near future, the cost for this will be paid in full. I don't think any of us will really be "Free" but I do believe that because we have some "Free" dom we can "Free" our mind and let our thoughts and dreams guide us to wherever it is we may want to go.
