Use Me Up

0

The line in one of my favorite songs says , "Oh, you just keep on Using Me, until you Use Me Up." Now that I have gotten a little older and a little more mature, I have gained a better understanding of what it is to be Used. I never really had a problem with it because I was doing what I felt best, but more and more these days I realize that people tend to Use Me, until they Use Me Up. I mean they Use Me for the simplest things that they could get from other people, but for some reason they choose to Use Me Up. While, I don't have a problem with people Using Me, it is a major issue they try to Use Me Up. I think it's important to indeed recognize when people are capable of Using You and Using You Up.

There are several reasons you need to recognize people who are Users. If you don't have the ability to know when someone has every intention of Using You, you may find yourself investing unnecessary time, emotions, and feelings into those persons who don't deserve it at all. See, people can only Use You if you allow them to. Some of us simple aren't strong enough to recover from being Used. I use to be so vulnerable to Users. It was like I had a Use Me Up sign posted on my forehead. But as I kept on living, I have learned that just because I want to help people and allow them to Use Me, doesn't mean I should let them Use Me Up.

I think as nurturers, some of us will always be in the position where people will try to Use Us. But that in no way means you should allow people to continue Using You. At some point in this life, we have to say, "enough is enough." This is one of the most difficult tasks I have ever had to endure and I am still not cured yet. Still today, I allow people to Use Me, but I am working to define when it should stop. I mean, I can't help it, people will most definitely Use Me and you too, but we cannot continue to allow them to Use Us until they Use Us Up. If so, we won't have a thing left to offer this world or anyone who truly needs us.
