Shock Value: Entry 83 "The Race"

0

So the holiday weekend is over and now we all have to return to our wonderful jobs/careers (fyi: there is some sarcasm in that statement). I hope you all had a blast this Independence Day weekend. Since I know you have a ton of things to do today, I'm going to jump right in. Today's topic: The Race.

I have no idea why some people see everything in life as a competition. I mean, yes there are some things you have to compete for like, a position at your company, a spot on the team, or even a gig at the local club. But everything in this life is not a race. I was reminded the other day by one of my lovely aunts that people do everything at the starting line to distract you and keep you unfocused on the race, but its not about how you start, its how you finish. She went on to remind me what the GOOD BOOK says, "The race is not given to the fast or swift, but to he or she that endureth to the end."
It took me minute to truly digest those words. I mean I knew where she was going with her statements but I wanted to put it in la-mends terms for my audience today. My summation: Slow down and pay more attention to the journey from the starting line to the finish line. Allow others to do whatever they want to try to through you off your course, but just keep on running or power-walking if thats your thing. Its like the tale of the tortoise and the rabbit. Speed is great for track stars, race car drivers, and the like. But in everyday life, we have no need to speed. I encourage you today to begin to take time to view your life, love, and relationships in this manner. Stop trying to run to the alter, to the maternity ward to become a mother, or to the top of your company. When its your time, its your time. There is nothing anyone can do to hold you back.

~On your marks, ready, set, gooooooo!~
